Ah yes, the forum move. Dark, dark days.

Actually, I had a lot of fun on the not as temp as we may have liked temp boards.

Yeah, the temp forums were kinda fun, even if it wasn't quite as temporary as we thought.

We also had fun making fun of it at the JC table at Celebration 6.

The reason for this is that it would put it back exactly the way it was saved, so if you went in right now and put it in exactly as it was back in early 2012 then it would look like that and nothing would be different. But if you decided to change things before putting it back in, then it when we fix the truncation issue, it would revert to the way it was saved

I was particularly proud of my "Jacen falling to his death in Trouble on Cloud City" thread. :p

Once again, off the current topic, but... does anyone happen to know what kind of insect this is?:

Sorry for the slightly fuzzy image; it's mostly black or dark gray with a few reddish-orange spots or lines. There are always tons of them around my office building, and one just flew right into my office.

EDIT: Oh, the poor thing somehow managed to flip itself onto its back and was lying their flailing all its little legs in the most pathetic and helpless manner. I gave it a gentle flip back onto its feet with one of my colored pencils.

Yes, a quick Google image search confirms that it is indeed. Thanks so much, LexiLupin!

We get those around here during late Spring, along with squash bugs. In York, I had seen them more often than stinkbugs. Their population varies depending on the area. In York, they're plentiful. Outside of Gettysburg, I see more stinkbugs. Up in the mountains, ladybugs invade.

Now to go on a hunt for another mantis egg case. I'd like to hatch some and perhaps keep one.

mavjade when I asked if the question marks would go away upon the truncation fix the people in communications did not know. Unless they told you something different. That is why I don't want to take the time to fix things. After fixing a 100k word story I don't want the truncation issue getting fixed, but not the question marks.

Not only that but I've noticed other peculiar symbols in the transposed text.

Briannakin when you say no more than four new threads do you mean no more than 4 a day, a week? Or just space them out so you don't occupy the entire first page of the forum? I don't have any intention of reposting, I'm just curious.

Thanks for the previous comment. It made me roar. I'm thinking this bunch sitting in the round at a hotel bar - at a convention - would be a whole lot of fun - drinking or not drinking --- just the company would be wonderful.

We could never all go a bar. The world would explode from the concentrated levels of awesomeness... or we'd all get arrested.

I love what you have here and thank you. But I think since we're all so awesome -- we would figure out a way to have a ton of fun and not get arrested. I have friends (like 2 stormtroopers over 6 ft and did I mention I have several Leia costumes)....BTW I am a lot of fun and can be the designated driver if necessary. I can be goofy without the liquor.

If I won a jackpot prize I'd be arranging the 1st Annual TFN Fanficcers' Convention—and footing the bill.

LOL. We are going to hold you to that :p

I'm seriously disappointed that there is no way I'll be able to make it to the next SW Celebration. We need to have our own con.

I like the idea of having our own Con. I went to Celebration II and it overwhelmed me. They had said they were expecting 25,000 and got 50,000 and the main ballroom held 3900 --- so there was all that standing in line for tickets for events. I'm used to attending at con that has 1500-2000 people. I also had to deal with a Stormtrooper that had let his position of power go to his head. I wanted to use a pair of stairs to make a shortcut to a bridge that lead to my hotel and he told me I could not use the stairs - that I had to take the long way around. We went round and round and I kept advancing on him until another trooper joined us. I told the new trooper I was not cutting the line and that he could escort me across the bridge if he wanted to or clean up the puke I was holding back. The second trooper helped me to the bridge then and apologized.

Don't get me wrong I had a lovely time and I now have a poster that is only lacking Harrison Ford and Anthony Daniels' autographs. (I had gotten Mark's in 1983).

I want to go to CVII, and I'm pinching pennies just to do so, but I plan to do what I did at CVI: sit on my butt behind a booth, and every now and then peddle my portfolio. Less hassle, less dealing with crowds until I feel like going shopping.

I would love to go to C7 too—primarily in the interest of meeting y'all!—but I honestly do not know whether it will be in the cards (or the crystal ball? or the mists?). There's the issue of the distance (of course they would decide to have it on the West Coast just after I move back to the Midwest), though that's partly counterbalanced by the fact that I could, at least in theory, stay with my dissertation advisor and his wife in nearby Riverside and thus not worry about hotel bills.

And I hear what Gemma says about it being overwhelming—honestly, last time I was at one of these, I mainly frequented just the booth I was with (FFURG) plus the dealers' room and didn't even try to go to any of the celebrities' events just because the crowds were so egregious.

So yes, if there were indeed any possibility of our own TF.N convention, I would definitely say yes! For some reason I have an image in my mind of a Canderous and Cade's formal ball, with everyone in evening wear (LBDs, anyone?)...

But really, any opportunity to get the lot of us together for drinks and conversation would be welcome. And I too can be goofy without liquor if need be.

That we don't know, because it has to do with how IGN and how xenoforo code things, it's possible that it would happen again.

I just put in for vacation on Wednesday for CVII. As many of you know, it's sometimes really hard to get vacation when you want it at my job and they told me I could put in for something a year out if I know that soon. (I tried to put in for it when I bought my tickets last August.) I'm making sure work doesn't stop me from going, it's over my usual weekend to work so that makes it harder if you aren't the first person to ask.

More than enough reason for me not to go. That sounds more annoying than dealing with the crowd of drunks during the Munich Octoberfest.

If I still lived in L.A. I'd more than likely be at CVII. :p As it stands, I need to start getting income again, and few people would want to hire someone who's going to be unavailable all summer.

I've only been to Celebration 5 and 6 but it was in a big enough space that it didn't feel all that crowded. Yeah, you have to wait in line to see the big things, I think we waited 2 or 3 hours to see Mark Hamill at C5, but it was totally worth it. The writing classes were always full but you didn't have to get there hours before hand to get into those.

I'm someone who isn't a fan of crowds and it never bother me at all.
