It's slightly modified to look a little different. But in the Star Wars Rebels Visual Guide it was classified as an unconventional lightsaber design.

 

Well it does something, I doubt an unwieldy hand guard would be considered unconventional.

 

It is considering we haven't seen many lightsabers with hand guards.

 

Kaanan's has one, Darth Stryfe um that all i can thing of.

 

Kanan's doesn't have that much of a hand guard. Unless you were talking abou that small circular cover at the top?

Kaanan's guard is more on the end of early bronze workings and eastern styles of sword making, the Europeans favored a a longer thin guard protruding from and following the edge alignment of the blade, which what most western swords will show you.

 

Yeah. But I also thought that it had a bit of a samurai look to it. When the blade get;s unsheathed on those swords, they have circular guard near the blade. Kinda like this I guess.

Now keep in mind my martial sword training is of western styles an I don have much practice in Kendo I think it is called.

 

Kendo is Japanese Martial Arts/sword fighting. It also means way of the sword. There are a bunch of different ways you can win, but you have to hit the head, wrists or body which are covered by armor. Certain hits and the direction you hit get's you points. It's actually kind of complicated.

 

That is correct. I have a bit of experience in it, but have been out of practice for a good while.

What I meant was that Star Wars is full of dumb and silly stuff and if you hate dumb stuff I find it surprising that SW is your cup of tea

The dialogue "who is that",the character and how he is drawn do top the list but I find I'm still able to reserve some loathing for that catapult as well.

Agreed. The slingshot deserves our hate. And it's probably cursed, too. I bet Anakin Skywalker built it and used it to shoot other kids from the back of the classroom while Yoda was talking about midi-chlorians.

Actually, it's probably the central plot device of the entire show! The Inquisitor probably was one of those kids. Repeatedly being whacked in the back of the head by that damn slingshot is what turned him to the dark side-- and LOL he doesn't even realise his big boss Darth Vader was the brat that built it originally!!!

When Ezra goes through his obligatory struggle with the dark side, it will be the slingshot that is whispering to him all the time, urging him to hit those nasty space cabbage sellers. Do it, Ezra! Give into the slingshot! Embrace the power of the laser pellets!!
