This is a tricky question; if the films are all too alike, they'll begin to feel generic. But can they go too far? The Saga borrows from so many genres already, i can see a quiet and tense western-like movie working just as well as something full of war and explosive action, or a lighter adventure throughout the various bizarre worlds of the GFFA. But i can't really see a horror movie, or a completely G-rated kid's movie. Both of these work in literature, but i can't see them on the big screen. What are your limits?

I'd be disappointed if they made a SW movie that wasn't as family friendly as the first six. To me, it's not SW if little kids can't go watch it and be amazed along with the adults. I guess that's not really about genres, but some genres lend themselves to family stories better than others.

One of my favorite things about Star Wars is that pretty much any story and any genre can work in the GFFA.
Romeo & Juliet? The children of two powerful Corellian families, one Imperial loyalist aristocracy who's eldest son died captaining a Star Destroyer at Endor and who's fortunes have declined since the NR came to power, and one a family of political idealists returned to their home after exile and siding with the Rebellion during the New Order.
Alien? You really don't need to change much.

There's near-limitless freedom to explore without violating the 'rules' of the setting, and that's the thing I hope will keep Star Wars films from losing their magic when they're coming out every summer.

Pretty sure we won't ever see a Star Wars film that isn't much of the same feel as the 6 we already have. I don't really see us ever getting that "dream R-rated bounty hunter film".

I do think that you could put a spin-off into many genres depending on who/what/when the the spin-off is about. I agree that you probably won't ever see anything to one extreme or another, but they do need to take care to not make them all feel like the same movie with different people.

Marvel has managed to do a pretty good job with this, so I am hopefull for SW.

Sure, give me every genre and we'll see what works and what doesn't.

Hey, even a SW horror film would work -- maybe Vader or Maul. ROTS had so many moments that felt like horror.

And, yeah, noir -- we need some SW noir for sure. Maybe a detective with Force sensitivity who dropped out of the Jedi order because they didn't like the rules. So many possibilities, we all need to stay alive for the next 40 years just to see them all. :p

I don't think there is many genres that are outside the limits.

I'd like to see a Star Wars horror film that would stay within the family friendly scope the GFFA.

Something creepy that gives the wiggans and a few jump moments - the vibe of The Sixth Sense not the gory rubbish.

Over the last few years, Doctor Who has had a bit of success in this regard - like the recent episode "Listen".

Even TCW did it with Legacy of Terror and Brain Invaders. Two great episodes.

I can't see them doing a straight comedy film. I think they'll all be adventure movies like the Marvel films, but each one will have slightly different tones. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a spy thriller vs. Captain America: The First Avenger, which is a war movie.

Horror and comedy. I'm not talking comic relief (every film has that, to an extent), but straight-up comedy. Same can be said for horror. I suppose we can get some films that are heavier with a particular genre than others, but the tone of all future SW films should continue to remain the same as what’s come before, IMO.

Probably horror or a really raunchy comedy. I'm not against a Three Stooges type comedy with characters like the Ewoks and R2 and 3P0, and I would love to see something like that done, but I would really hate to see a raunchy comedy like the Hangover and such in Star Wars. Of course, that's not going to happen in a million years under Disney.

Horror doesn't really work in my opinion based on the Clone Wars episode "Brain Invaders". Some may have liked it, I really didn't.

I think horror would work for star wars but I doubt Disney would do it. (We doesn't like Disney yes precious Gollum Gollum )

Romantic comedy: I don't think so.

    Vampire Romance (Twilight) Please NO.

A Musical. NO NO NO OFF LIMITS. Disney do not do this. Don't torture us with Star wars on ice. Do not turn Leia into a singing princess or have singing villians. Palpatine and Vader singing a villain song? Don't even go there.

Slapstick Comedy: I don't want to see Star Wars: Jar Jar returns.

    Soap Oprea: No no no.

    Sitcom- probably not.

Trash T.V- No Dune Sea shore or Jabba Springer.

Reality T.V genre- Please don't do Palpatine 20 kids and counting

And because Disney has done fairytail classics I want to mention this. Now that they own Star Wars they better not make Star Wars:The Emperor's New Clothes.

Comedic movies similar to the Wraith Squadron books would be fun.
Crime heists/psychological thrillers would be fun as well.
Horror movies except in the vein of the Denning books. Avoid those at all costs.

You know, I'd sort of be okay with a Disney Star Wars movie, hell even a musical. I heard that Big Hero 6 turned out pretty good, and Rebels looks fairly solid right now.

But a musical? You know what, go ahead. Because I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I would fund a Star Wars Musical. Like, can you even imagine how stupidly amazing a Count Dooku villain song would be? CAN YOU? Yeah, it'd probably destroy the franchise worse than Jar Jar ever could have dreamed, but it'd be fun while it lasted.

Horror (meaning blood-bag horror films) and totally unserious comedy wouldn't work in star wars.

Well, regarding Horror it depends. Disney/Marvel Studios hired a noted indie horror director for Doctor Strange, so anything is possible.

Scary I can see, gory not a lot though especially if you want to market to folks of various ages.

Personally, there's enough crime and noir out there already so if SW does not go there, works for me. If a spin off does go there, I won't see it.

Oscar bait movie about the life of Chancellor Valorum starring Daniel Day Lewis

The Dishwasher. Starring Sylvester Stallone as Gregor and Jean Claude Van Damme as Borkus

Sex, Spice, and Jizz: The Rise and Fall of the Modal Nodes, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Figrin Dan

Then of course there's the highly controversial Ewok Holocaust, so violent that it was banned from cinemas who thought it was an actual snuff film.

I wouldn't completely rule out a horror entry, even if it's only rated PG-13. The EU had a book called Death Troopers which involved a zombie virus. And as far as a straight-up comedy the http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tag_and_Bink]Tag[/url] and Bink comics seemed to be at least fairly liked even though they were non-canon. If a movie like The Interview can make $15 million from VOD, YouTube and a very limited theatrical release then a live-action Star Wars comedy should rake in an enormous profit. So long as the spin-offs are tastefully done and don't contradict anything from the main saga I'm up for almost anything.
