I stumbled onto this gem while browsing TOTALLY non-nerdy stuff:

8 Reasons the Star Wars Prequels Should Be Given A Chance

And then I thought "Why don't I start a thread where people can link excellent Star Wars articles that DON'T bash the Prequels, so we can all have a merry Christmas or whatever".

Would love to see some contributions!

just took a very quick look at both links, and while I actually saw several things I personally disagreed with, I love the "positivity vibe" of the OP:)

I was actually surprised at Kevin Smith's original review of TPM. It's surprisingly positive.

I think a lot of the ones which have been posted are the ones I used to have

One could also go on a site like IMDB and just look at all the 4 and 5 star reviews to see what people say. Some go pretty in-depth

I've been almost continuously reading Why I love The Phantom Menace since you posted the link to it. I'm just nearing the end of it and I have to say that this guy's writing is one of those with which I can totally relate. Awesome read, thank you for posting it!

Jarren: Thanks for starting this thread. It's much more constructive to have positive threads when one is striving to inform others of the merits of something than negative. I intend to read the links here in hopes of continuing to grow in appreciation of difference.

    WOW! Fantastic!!

I really hope you dig his AOTC pieces, too -- they're considerably richer!

He never wrote much of anything for ROTS. Just a brief summary of his earliest impressions. Here it is:

A much more fun read where Sith is concerned is this fabulous "visual" essay:

I have read part of his Why I Love TPM and he does a good job over all but I dislike his negative tone regarding the OT. Spot on about the Jedi and Anakin for the most part, though.

Yeah, it's a little ironic how he engages in the very behaviour his other essays seem written to counter.

And I was a little disappointed he never really followed up with a personal breakdown of ROTS -- he actually seemed slightly taken back by the film.

Outstanding overall, though. I couldn't like his writings on the Jedi and Anakin more.

Just got done with most of Part III. Pretty good. The breakdown about dualities and symbiosis is very well done and does point out many valid things. However, again, with his negativity towards others' not seeing what he does/having differing tastes. We are wired differently doesn't make anyone simple or wrong.

It's almost too good to be true.

That's true, but you have to remember, TPM took a pounding online and in the media, and the author is -- from my point-of-view -- heartily pugnacious in his counter rhetoric.

Some more essays -- this time, all from TFN's own Jedi_Ford_Prefect!!

    General TPM review/commentary:

(As you can see, I had to pull this one from the "Way Back Machine", as it's no longer accessible on the main Internet)

    https://web.archive.org/web/20090902123052/http://www.theaspectratio.net/phantommenace.htm

Crisp, penetrating analysis of the climactic TPM lightsaber duel:

(This one is accessible from the main Internet, but some of the picture links are broken -- hence the "archive.org" link provided here)

(FURTHER NOTE: For me, the text is more readable in the "real" link, so you might want to have both versions up -- just delete all the text up to the second "http" to access the current version online)

    https://web.archive.org/web/2014010...om/2012/02/11/notes-on-the-duel-of-the-fates/

    General AOTC review/commentary:

(This is like his TPM review, but more in-depth -- and yes, this one still seems fully intact, so only use archive.org and attempt to retrieve an older link if you need to)
