    Well he's not aiming at the two Hydra soldiers in front of him so he still seems to be in ranged combat and aiming at Hydra soldiers further away. He just wanted to be part of the group action pose.

    Arrows are badass, but getting too close to the enemy with them doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Why not? Archery is basically stabbing at a distance. All you're doing is removing the distance.

    Logically the only thing superior to a bow and arrow is a sword gun.

    True, but if you get too close the enemy could grab the bow or knock an arrow out before it's ready to fire.

    Hawkeye has to charge to the front for his inevitable "I ran out of arrows" spot. He has to be close so he can have a cool scene where he then retrieves an arrow from a fallen enemy.
