We finally get a title for Episode VII

Mistake on my part as was in a rush out the door Episode VII is now called:

Spoiler: title

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

 

Really. . . really?? . . .Oh . . .
Like what does that even MEAN?!?!

 

why the spoiler box. Surely the title is unavoidable...

 

Unavoidable now posted that in a spoiler box before the EpVII forum changed the name to The Force Awakens forum.

It does kinda make me think about The Dark Knight Rises.

 

So what are everyones thoughts on the Teaser?

Personally it was just enough to awaken my 8yo self, who saw the very first Star Wars at the Astra Theatre in Parramatta back in 1977.

 

At first I was not quite sure what to think of it as it started but as soon as I saw that shot of the fighters over water and the old bucket of bolts… yep, those two parts stole the show for me. So good.

After repeated viewing, some things I liked (The vehicles, new John Williams music) and some things felt out of place (some camera work and character shots) but hey, we are still one year out they must have a lot to go before it is finished. I still have my Jurassic World to tide me over till the film comes out.

 

And I'll post this here, just in case there are some who have not seen it yet.

 

Alright, more news. To paraphrase: Disney has announced the title for the upcoming standalone film.

Star Wars: Rogue One

That should be released 16th December 2016. Directed by Gareth Edwards based on a concept by John Knoll of ILM. Nothing else about the story has been mentioned yet.

Episode VIII will be written and directed by Rian Johnson and scheduled for a 26th May 2017… 40 years and one day after ANH came out back in '77

 

Just a heads up that coverage from Celebration will be streamed on the official website. It will start around 3am AEST.

Main panel will be the one with Kathleen Kennedy and J.J. Abrams.

J.J. made me roll happy tears this morning with that teaser trailer.

 

Such an amazing trailer !

 

Don't go to watch Age of Ultron in the hopes of seeing the second teaser for TFA, it wasn't attached at yesterday's sessions at Event Cinemas.

 

It appeared when I saw the advance screening at the Ritz. The entire cinema cheered when the Lucasfilm logo appeared and applauded at the end. It was great seeing it on the larger screen.

Anyone picked up on the reverb to Luke's voice? Sounded like a ghost. Turns out they used both his dialogue from ROTJ and they got him to record the dialogue the other week and meld them together.

 

Not a huge fan of the new trooper helmets, they looks so. . .happy?

 

Now that you mentioned it, they do kinda look happy in their position… maybe they are crying on the inside.

 

I got tingles the first time I saw the second Teaser Trailer for Episode VII, the familiar voiceover from Luke & then we see Han & Chewie.... AWESOMENESS!!

 

They used two different recordings for Luke's voice. They got him recently to record it and used it with the dialogue from ROTJ. You can pick it up as though a reverb… nice touch. Han & Chewie's appearance just took it home.

 

Hope everyone is well, have you seen the behind-the-scenes footage from Episode VII shown at Comic-Con?

 

I loved that they showed some insight in to the behind the scenes. It was so good to see and makes me feel more excited to see and looking forward to more.

It would be pretty fun to be on that cockpit gimbal too.

Getting more & more excited about Ep7 each time I watch the new trailer.

Pity I may not be able to go to a midnight screening, but new job and all. Don't think it would be a good look to have a night off just for a movie even if it is Star Wars: The Force Awakens!
