Goodwood, Here it is. I just put the 4 tracks I found to 4 random images of my cat because youtube and iMovie are dumb. Please note, I was no John Williams at 16, and for some of these we had to take other pieces of music and re-compose them.

But I agree Carrie would probably be one of the funnest original cast members to meet (not that the other cast members wouldn't be great fun as well, Peter Mayhew can be a blast on Reddit), but her vulgar humor speaks to me. As much as I was experiencing some major Fremdschämen (vicarious embarrassment) as I watched the panel, some of her stories (while not family friendly and not completely believable) were hilarious.

Damn, sounds like I missed a hilarious panel today. :( I enjoy off-color humor.

But, I missed it because after nearly six months of waiting through the offseason, Kings Island is finally open for 2015! :D :D :D So I'll share a pic of the nightly fireworks display:

I was supposed to go on a day trip to Aegina today (it's a small island one hour away from Athens) and to spend my day basking in the sun. Only there's no sun  and I didn't go.

Darth Real Life has a sick sense of humor, and I would like to kick his sorry ***.

I spent a miserable night in the hospital with the Youngling last night. She has influenza B and had a high fever that would go down with Tylenol but go right back up, and then yesterday she started having seizures (not the kind where you convulse, but the kind where you stare blankly up at the ceiling). We took her to the emergency room and they gave her anti-seizure meds, which sedated her, but she hasn't been fully conscious since then. They are running all kinds of tests on her: CT scan, EEG, and we have a spinal tap scheduled for today. I just don't feel like dealing with the well meaning relatives who will descend later today. :(

Any prayers or good thoughts would be appreciated.

Raissa Baiard - sending good thoughts your way, will be thinking of you and your little girl. Hope she pulls out of that quickly, without any consequences.

TrakNar - I see what you did there, you DIRTY person. :p

Briannakin - Gonna give this a listen later. I wish I still had the supposed Eurodance music my friend and I made twenty years ago by manipulating tape to offer in return...or I don't. But here is a horrible recording of my friend and I "singing" Under the Bridge in 2003: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/104432084/UTB-duet.wav

(and this is not to say that your music is on that level, just...humouring myself :p)

As for the guy who got the kiss - life is never fair, there are far worse things, even in day-to-day communication. *shrug*

jcgoble3 - Now I know of a new place. And it looks awesome! Do you go there regularly?

Chyntuck - You're going to make a nice lunch to compensate for that, right?

We got a blah day after two days of 23-27 degrees in freakin' April and the rest of the month is supposed to be average (10-17)...since I want to see the third day of panels from Celebration and Green Day being induced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I guess I will be pulling a semi all-nighter.

I like the idea of likes of absolute sympathy, by the way. Just did the same.

Yep. It's only about 40 minutes away, and I have a season pass. Lots of good rides there, and a great atmosphere. That picture was taken from the 275-foot observation deck on the park's centerpiece, a 1:3 scale replica of the Eiffel Tower. Also, a piece of history: the white roller coaster you see along the bottom of the photo is the reason why modern roller coasters exist. Back in middle part of the 20th century, roller coasters were dying off, but then in 1972, Kings Island opened with that coaster, known simply as The Racer. It was an instant success, and is credited with igniting the second golden age of roller coasters, which continues to this day.

Strictly speaking, I didn't make it -- it was my stepmother-in-law doing the cooking, for a change #not -- but I ate it :p It was lachanodolmades (stuffed cabbage leaves in lemon sauce) and it was awesome. And now I just put some chick peas and onion in the oven, in my special clay pot from Sifnos, and they're going to bake until morning and become literally melt-in-the-mouth delicious. Because, you know, Balkans (in a good way this time!)

So that sounded so good that I just had to look it up in my Greek cookbook, and the only stuffed-cabbage-looking thing I found was lachano gemisto, cabbage stuffed with a mix of seasoned ground pork and smoked sausage, accompanied by egg-lemon sauce. Was that about what your stepmother-in-law made? Whether it was or no, I'd be curious to hear more about what she fixed and maybe try it myself! Ditto the chickpea and onion dish—that sounds amazing too... =P~

EDIT: Findsboy loves the Greek cookbook because of its beautiful glossy photos, both of the food and of various sights of Greece. Right now he's busily paging through it trying to find a photo he liked that showed a fork.

Raissa Baiard My thoughts and prayers are with you and the youngling.

After my slightly bizzare evening yesterday (I drank just enough to apparently fall asleep at 10:30 and sleep till noon with some pretty weird dreams - not quite sure how that happened since I had like .5 of a drink of scotch) I've decided to get started on my weird paper that used to be the final exam but got turned into a paper. I've kinda planned it out and 'organized' it in 5 sections of about ~500 words. I figure I will do about a section a day, and get it done in time to have a couple days to study for my anthropology exam. After working on it for an hour, I did a word count for my current section, thinking I was nearing the 450 mark... and it was 179 measly words. It's going to be one of those papers where time feels twice as slow. Honestly, I would rather a final exam at this point.

Findswoman For the lachanodolmades, I need to get the recipe from the specialist. I know that she makes a stuffing with minced meat, rice and onions, rolls it in steamed cabbage leaves, and then she packs it all in a pot and simmers with egg-lemon sauce, but I was never able to do it right -- mine always turn out so hard you could hammer a nail in a stone wall with them :(

The chick peas on the other hand is one of those dishes you can't go wrong with. I posted a recipe with spinach a while back on the foodies' thread (here: http://boards.theforce.net/index.php?posts/51898704) but what I'm baking tonight is even easier. 250 g dried peas which I soaked all day, 4 chopped onions, salt, pepper, oregano, juice of 2 lemons and 1/2 cup olive oil. Put it all in any deep oven dish and add just enough water to cover + 1 cm, then cover with the lid (or if you don't have a dish with a lid, cover with aluminum foil) and leave in the oven at 100C all night or as long as you want, you can't overcook chick peas anyway. The dish I put in the oven tonight is going to stay there for 12+ hours and I'm not even going to bother checking on it until lunchtime tomorrow.

What does Findsboy find so fascinating about Greek forks?

Since this new one does not have spinach as an ingredient, I may give it a go. :)

Chyntuck, making individual cabbage rolls sounds a lot easier and more fun than the thing suggested in my cookbook—which, although the same basic ingredients are used, involves carving out the core of the cabbage and stuffing the filling in between all the cabbage's leaves and then cooking the whole thing. I'm not even sure that even my largest Dutch oven could fit a whole cabbage. Anyway, I got out my recipe card box earlier tonight and wrote down your recipes for both baked chickpeas and kajmak, the latter of which I intend to try tomorrow after I pick up a quart of cream at the store.

Ewok Poet, it's true! I just need to find a good Serbian or other former Yugoslav cookbook, and I'll be all set. :D

So, I spent like 4 hours today doing homework, yet it wasn't my own. Basically, after I hit a grand total of 315 words on my last paper, I decided to visit my mother (also, she was making banana bread and I wanted to steal some). So when I got over there, it turns out the banana bread was a trap. My dumb brother hadn't done any of his grade 10 science homework since the start of the semester. She wanted me to help him. There was only one problem with her plan: I've never done grade 10 science. Long story short: I basically went from grade 9 science to grade 11 physics because they were doing some weird things with the curriculum. So yeah, I got to spend this evening learning chemistry (I hate chemistry - there's a reason why I picked physics as my science credit in high school) and not doing my paper.

Anyways. I just finished the Mark Hamill panel. It was entertaining as always, but it got me thinking, I'm kinda glad I didn't end up going. I mean, yeah, it would have been fun, but with all the secrecy around EVII, no one can really say ANYTHING about it. And Mark, Carrie, Ian, and probably Billy Dee, have all told the same anecdotes surrounding the OT (and for Ian the PT as well) that they know the audience has probably heard most of them. I just think CVIII is going to be way more fun because we will probably get new stories from both the old and the new cast. I'm definitely going to try to go.

Not a spoiler, but I'll tag it as such just out of respect for those that want to stay in the dark about the casting.
It was interesting to find out that George Lucas - even before he sold it - told Carrie and Mark (and I'm assuming Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels) that if they wanted nothing to do with the new trilogy that they could say so and they would be written out from the get-go and not re-casted. I knew that they had met with George before he sold it, but I think it shows a lot of respect, both that GL and now Disney has for the actors and the characters, and that these actors - to a degree - willingly want to reprise their roles. People say that money plays a big part in it, but it's not like any of these actors are exactly desperate for milk money.

Perhaps I'm just being optimistic and seeing the good in people.

I have this idea for a scene in Tintin in Innsmouth, it involves captain Haddock being hunted by deep ones; Haddock being scared out of his wits; he runs around for some time and then runs into one of the building; it is dark inside so he lights a match witch reveal the building is full of moonshine; here next we see some of the deep ones outside of the building, their hands on the door; just as they open the door Haddock comes flying out, an old sabre in one hand and a bottle in the other, cursing like the sailor he is; what follows is the deep ones running away from the raging drunk Haddock.

Good news! The Youngling regained consciousness last night and early this morning they moved us from ICU to a regular room! All the results of her tests have come back normal. We're just waiting for the results on some cultures from the spinal tap. She's still very sleepy, but when she's not asleep, she's trying to sit up and get out of bed. :)

Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers, Jedi friends @};-
