Saga Most Overrated Star Wars Character?

Fett is really interesting and complex in the EU. He's just overrated in the movies themselves because, when those films are viewed in isolation, we don't know much about him and how exactly Mace decapitating his father's head truly affected him.

I have to say for me it's Mace Windu, he never seemed as awesome to me as he does to a lot of Star Wars fans. I like Samuel L Jackson as an actor just don't really think he's a particularly cool Jedi. Think I would rather have seen Plo Koon get more screen time and delve into his character more, loved him in The Clone Wars!

 

None of the Jedi of that era are all that cool imo. There are some that are close to cool but overall they are too stuck up and set in their ways to be cool.

But Bobba Fett became an instant runaway character after the release of ESB. Back then there was no Jango Fett, nor was there any EU (other than the ESB novel) to explain why people were so excited with him. Other than the brief exchange he has with Vader on Bespin.

Darth Maul is also quite a lame character also, but I never felt that people were over-reacting to Maul about how cool he is, compared to how cool everyone thinks Bobba Fett is. To me even his name is dumb.

 

If I had never read any EU, I can understand the notion of being intrigued by the mystery of Maul and Fett. Fett especially came off as very competent and dangerous in TESB (i.e. tracking Han, standing up to Vader, shooting at Luke after a very brief glance, etc.). Maul's design is part of what hooked people, as well as his unique lightsaber/martial arts skills. However, reading Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter and short stories like Darth Maul's Revenge gave me a sense of his personality that the movie did not. I think many people got into Maul and Fett because they "look cool," as someone once said. Let's be honest. Maul looks like the devil, and Fett's armor is neat.

Probably has something to do with her being one of few females in the ot, and one with actual dialogue with other main characters.

You know personally, I think Dave should forget Azog and send Jerec to take care of Ahsoka.

 

I thought he was OKAY.

But I'm more of a fan of the old school inquisitors.

I might have gotten the question wrong, but Sebulba fits pretty nicely in with sharkymcshark's 'looks badass, doesn't do much, dies' description. Yes, he's a main character of Episode 1, but he really doesn't do much. He comes in as the greatest podracer in the race, kills off a few other racers, causes a slight bit of trouble to Anakin, who easialy fixes it, makes him crash and wins the race. After that he is never heard from again.

 

Captain Pancake or whatever the hell his name was.

 

Panaka's the name, being grumpy is his game.

Which is kind of fitting, albeit in an unintended way, as Panaka means douche/dumb in Portuguese.

At least he was back in 1997 or thereabouts.

The ones that come to mind

1. Boba Fett -- It is so weird to see fans like Boba more than Jango even when the latter is the only one who actually did significant things in the films. Some of these fans don't even use EU material; they just think he was better in the films. Still a good character but still weird.

2. Han Solo -- He is a great character, but is rated higher than he should be. A good example of how something can be overrated and good at the same time

3. Darth Maul -- On one hand, he did what he was supposed to do in the film: be a Sith assasin that was well trained. On the other hand, many fans prefer him over Dooku even though Maul barely has any dialogue

 

^^So Jerec was actually a dark jedi in the beginning? That sounds great to me. I've never liked the Inquisitor concept to begin with. And that Azog look a like reminds me why.

 

Yeah, he was a dark Jedi working for the empire before the emperor and Vader died, while searching for the valley of the Jedi.
