I've been currently reading Labyrinth of Evil, where the Jedi capture a certain Mechno-chair, that sets them on the trail of a certain Darth Sidious. Said chair contained a holonet-transceiver and a holoprojector, more advanced than anything they had seen before according to the technicians, who turned the design-plans into working devices and it is heavily implied, that Sidious himself designed them.

f we also go by what is known about the Sith- and Jedi-tradition, Sidious must have also built his own lightsabre(s) and he had the orignal plans for the Eclipse-class star dreadnought changed according to his desires.

So while we don't know enough about NuCanon-Palpatine, how gifted of a technician was the Legends-One?

I was always under the impression that Palpatine was a polymath genius, but never did the most of it because he almost exclusively focused on his study of the Force.

In his youth, Palpatine also raced speeders, and likely configured them for extra speed, maneuverability, etc. according to the novels 'Darth Plagueis' and 'The Clone Wars: Wild Space'.

Palpatine was a skilled liar, so he may often fake not knowing how to do stuff.

Sheev doesn't use stairs or elevators, he uses Force levitation.

He also can set the voltage and frequency of his lightning, so he doesn't need to use chargers for his datapad or other devices that require power. He charges them himself.

    This is unfortunate.

I'm assuming it's either the Robot Chicken parody or the Family Guy parody. But I can't remember :( (Or was it Eddie Izzard, "no, fark off, or I'll kill you with a tray?" No wait, that was Vader).

No, I got that you referring to the IG-88 short story by Kevin J. Anderson, where IG-88 takes over the Death Star and slams that turbolift doors in Palpatine's face. I'm just glad that tale is a Legend now [face_devil]

Thinking of this story, the Disney-reboot isn't such a bad thing anymore. [face_rofl]

Well guys if you think about it - notice in the Canon and EU at times how Palpatine is at his desk and also how he communicates he surely would need to have a working knowledge of the contemporary technology eh? Plus also managing the Clone Wars secretly and also later gaining and later building the Death Star ... AND also in the Darth Plagueis novel - if the fact young Palpatine enjoyed flash-speed racing at a young age and the fact how surely his 'gift' of his flash-prototype speeder by Cosinga Palpatine must surely indicate in a sense he must have had a perfectly good working knowledge of technology and not just politics and having Dark Side Powers...

"Sate? Sate how do I switch this desk comm to line two?"

"Chancellor, you're on the line with me there's no need to yell through the comm."

"But you're so far away how will you hear me!?"

"I'm across the hall, let me come in and do it for you."

"No I've got it. Wait, now it's asking me for my voice ID???"

"Excellency, you hit the holomail button."
