Saga Rate the Star Wars films, TPM to TFA

Current order of favourites. I've rewatched these quite a lot lately with TFA coming out on blu ray and also the other films being played constantly on one of the sky movie channels.

TFA OVER ROTJ!?

 

I love ROTJ, but the time on Endor before the fighting begins brings it down a little for me. TFA is consistently great from beginning to end.

 

Boy I wish I had a facepalm emoji.

I found TFA to be a complete betrayal of the whole saga. A cynical, corporate cash-in... completely lacking all the elements that Lucas brought to the saga.

3 and 4 vary, I love them pretty much equally ... possibly because of their similarities! I'm also quite fond of AOTC despite ranking it the lowest. Great character design and music, plus I associate it with a fun period of my teenage years.

I'm surprised to see all the TFA "hate" on here. I was honestly under the impression that there were more people that liked it. I liked it. It's not my favorite, for sure. I do agree with certain issues that have been cited, but IMO each episode has their own flaws. Overall though I didn't hate it or view it as a betrayal of everything SW or anything that intense.

To each their own I suppose though, right?...

 

How is there hate? Haven't you seen the box office? Everyone loves it!

 

There's at least a small, noisy amount of 'hate' for everything.

Have now seen TFA a third time (via a DVD borrowed from the public library--can't bring myself to purchase it, lol).

Updating my ratings:

1: Star Wars: 95%
2: The Empire Strikes Back: 90%
3: The Force Awakens: 80%
4: Return of the Jedi: 70%
5: Revenge of the Sith: 50%
7: The Phantom Menace: 25%
7: Attack of the Clones: 25%

Finally split RotJ and TFA. The ratings are somewhat relative to each other, but are fairly absolute based on my enjoyment and satisfaction of each film (I don't watch many films )

 

KaleeshEyes, my rankings are very similar to yours except with ROTS and TPM flipped. TPM and ROTJ battle it out for fourth place for me, depending on what kind of mood I'm in. My top three are way out in front though, and I don't see that changing in a hurry, at least until VIII comes out!
