The ST had the Galactic Civil War

What do you suppose fictional history will call the conflict in the ST?

My vote: The Void War, because it's the struggle to fill the void left by the obliterated seat of government

I'm going with the First Order War but Search for Skywalker War has a nice ring to it.

 

Wookieepedia is going with "First Order-Resistance Conflict", I believe, but as of TFA, there's no official war as of yet. TLJ might answer it for us, but at the same time, maybe not. Battlefront EA 2, maybe, since the term "Galactic Civil War" never showed up in the OT

'First Order-Resistance Conflict' won't do anymore, as the NR has been dragged in. 'CivWar 2' doesn't work in my mind, as the FO are foreign invaders, and not some kind of separatist movement. 'First Order War'/'First Order' Insurgency sounds great to me.

Second Galactic Civil War would be the most logical. First Order War would also be a decent idea, maybe also War to Restore the Empire.

The Supremacy War? Snoke is aiming for supremacy and it's a word that would be thrown around in universe because of his title and the name of his ship.

Just as there was a World War I and II, the galaxy is experiencing back to back civil wars, with several years of peace between, with the new generation fighting GCWII (rolls right off the tongue, no?) which is a mirror of the '20s and '30s where the children of the veterans of the first war came of age to fight the next war, and the veterans of the first became leaders of the new. Hence Leia being like General Eisenhower or MacArthur or Patton.

 

Is the ST conflict a civil war tho? The First Order was technically a separate government at peace with the New Republic before TFA.

 

Kinda I guess. It's like if, after winning the Civil War, the US army fought Texas succeeding from the nation or something. Although the Union Army is more like the Empire in this case and the Confederacy was more like the Rebellion, though their respective purposes differed from their real life counterparts.

Didn't the First Order rise out of the ashes of the Empire? The New Republic was at peace with them but the Resistance is not. I dunno.

Call it whatever you want. I dunno.

 

The First Order consists of seceded planets from the New Republic but was started in the unknown regions of space by remnants of the Empire. The NR was at peace with them and the resistance is separate from the NR.
