Can we accept all the POVs? I imagine that we'll kind of see more than one. There is more than one side to every story and the "truth" is the one the listener finds for themselves. I mean, unless this is a court of law--but I can't rule on subjective feelings as though that's objective.

 

Yes absolutely. I've had the inkling for some time that Rey's disappearance and the beginning of Ben's downfall are one and the same event. I discussed the possibility (and it wasn't my initial idea- I can't take credit for this) with another poster by PM only the other day that Ben may have thought he'd accidentally killed his sister. That's the sort of trauma that would start anyone on a dark path, FS or otherwise...

I'd like to give credit to the poster who had the idea (circa early 2016) that Luke's past 30 years could be broken up into two 15 year chunks, pre-incident and post-incident. These were in the days when many of us were riding the Rey Skywalker train. It just made too much sense. Ben would've been around 15 when Rey disappeared. Just old enough to do something foolish and spiteful. Say, purposely ditch your annoying cousin/rival and your dad's pride possession (his ship) in one fell swoop. And lie that it was stolen and you didn't know she was on it.

[Sigh] Such innocent, heady days. But I still like the idea that Luke had these two blocks of time, divided by an incident that seems to coincide with Rey being left on Jakku. Or, is it all just coincidence?

 

I have to say, while I still don’t think it would sit that well (at present) with TFA and I can’t quite see how the specifics would work - Kylo and everyone believing he has killed his sister is the first Solo theory that seems intriguing (to me). If they could make something like that work, there is a lot of good drama in there.

 

But then how could the darkness not be seen until it is too late?

 

I meant more in an accidental lack of control, vs a deliberate move. But yes, it does seem odd for that to happen then Luke is convinced he’s the great hope. The specifics still seem off to me once you start to dig. But as always that doesn’t mean much necessarily. I have a really hard time thinking that a lost daughter has anything at all to do with the disappearance of the Falcon.

Yeah it would have to be an accident and everyone would have to be absolutely convinced that she’s dead. Like they all felt her being cut off from the Force somehow.

But I can’t fit the Falcon into it logically either. And that is one heck of a coincidence for it to just be near Rey.

Again, I’m not convinced of this either, but it would give Ben years and years of guilt and give his parents good reason to be frightened and distant simply from not knowing what the heck to do.

It also brings all the disparate and unexplained back stories for all the main characters together in one streamlined storyline.

But TFA does not support this very clearly so who knows?

ETA- It’s possible Luke was convinced of Ben’s potential prior to Rey’s ‘death’ and blindly refused to give up on that out of love and devotion to his sister and nephew.

I feel it’s going to be simpler than all that and I don’t really feel Rey Solo fits with TFA or the new canon or the vast majority of interviews since, but if they’re hiding all that for a reveal in TLJ, then maybe I would think that. Anyway, I guess we need to be careful of this turning into the parentage thread.

Anyone care to make s guess of when we’ll see our first clip? What did we get for TFA? One clip? And about 4 for R1 iirc?

He’s also coming at it from the pov of an actor who has to inhabit his character in a way that makes him right and is not the full story even going by just TFA. Does anyone actually, honestly believe that the only factor in Kylo’s fall is Leia working too hard, or are we all just enjoying a final pre-release froth?

That red blob in the bottom left - dead Praetorian Guard? It looks like Snoke's throne room. And something has exploded.

 

At least it looks like someone "red" is dead there.

Also the red sparks coming from the lower left edge of the picture might be something.

I can't tell if that bit of red is a Praetorian Guard or just a bit of the red soil/crystal of Crait lol. Though I do think since it appears the ground around the red area is brown-ish, it means this is on Crait. If it was on the Supremacy wouldn't the floors be black and shiny?

And as I mentioned in the trailer thread that ember floating down behind Rey could be a clue that this is the same location where Kylo will reach out his hand (since the embers behind him looked the same)

Another option - this could be in the hangar on the Supremacy, and Rey escapes while some of the Guards were escorting her to a prison cell, because the whole thing goes boom.
