I hope the Fett film is set between TESB and ROTJ.

 

I think it’ll be set in the Solo time period, before ANH.

 

That's probably the case.

 

Yeah, I think the pre ANH height of the Empire period gives more freedom and a blank canvas to whoever gets to write the story.

 

To have it set between TESB and ROTJ would only complicate matters with the need to recast Leia and Luke to compliment Glover's Lando Calrissian.

 

Having just seen Solo, the Boba Fett movie could be a kind of sequel to that. Set in the same era, a bounty hunter working his way up. Enough room for crime lords (Maul, Qi’ra) and smugglers (Han, Lando)

Have the story revolve around Fett trying to deliver a bounty as he is pursued by other bounty hunters, some we know very well, and some heroes, some of whom we also know very well.

Turn the tables on the bounty hunter. The hunter is now the hunted.

You could be really ambitious and set it between TESB and ROTJ. Have his bounty be carbonite Han and the journey to get it to Jabba. Maybe that is not dramatic enough because we know how it ends? But we know Fett survives regardless what era the movie is set in. The fun can be the journey not the destination. You can have some cameos by some heroes and bounty hunters we know all part of a great new supporting cast trying to find Han.

 

Lucas did so I see no reason to go against it.

Never heard that before. When was that referenced?

I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean and the best we've ever seen Boba is when he was Jango and that was just about being a strong character.

 

What if the film opened up by showing he survived the sarlaac, then flashing back to the dark times era.

I wonder if Jango Fett (flashback, hallucination, dream sequence) will have a cameo.

 

That scenario would be the best of both worlds, but I’m not sure if they’ll touch the Sarlaac incident.

I don't see a problem of having Boba the cloned son of a Mandalorian born on Concord Dawn, having him at some point learning about his heritage in the new EU that builds up to the film. Then just let the film deal with circumstances purely set in the story and not try to deal with events that happened previously.

 

Yeah, I've been thinking that for a long time. Literally start the film with him escaping from the Sarlaac. I think that would bring the house down.

 

I'm sure this has been brought up already, but what are the odds of Daniel Logan playing Boba? He'd be the right age, he looks kind of like Temuera now that he's an adult. Plus he loves playing Boba, including doing his voice on some clone war episodes.

Have Temuera do the voice overs and voila.

I found this picture of him from the TFA premiere and I could definitely see him as Boba.

 

I think that it would be hard to invest in Boba's character if the film took place in a time period other than post ROTJ. The story of how he became one of Jabba's henchmen isn't that interesting and it seems weird to focus on him if he just gets eaten after the movie.

I vote Taika Waititi as Boba Fett. I don’t care what it does to continuity or Fett’s characterization, I want it.

 

One thing for sure - for me it would be hard to watch Fett movie whatever quality it would be - knowing this dude gonna end up in Sarlacc Pit in a pretty comical or caricature way.

 

Straight to Disney Streaming in 2020. No way this thing makes it to the big screen unless they are planning for complete failure. This isn't Venom. There isn't anywhere for it to go. If they planned for it to be part of this ROTS-ANH inter-galactic cinematic universe, I think that it's DOA.

 

Please, please keep Dwayne the Rock Johnson as far away as possible.

Cliff Curtis is a great Maori actor. A potentially good choice. But like @PymParticles, I want to see Taika in the role. Just do it, Lucasfilm. You know you want to.

 

In a world where Lord & Miller got to finish Solo, and it was the goofier improv-heavy film it sounded like it would have been, I would have loved to see a Fett film written, directed by, and starring Waititi.

But in the world we live in, I’ll just take one starring him.

 

Man, I love Solo, but I just can't help but wonder about the L&M version...
