but qui-gon-jenn did find out that the force was strongly with aniken and he knew he must protect aniken at all costs...
but yes it did seem that maul was trying to deliberatly kill aniken just for the heck of it, but he didnt really have a motive did he?

In the journal of Darth Maul, it says that he did feel a strange connection, albeit unfocused, to the force in Anakin. He comprehends this but plans to run him down anyway, but he certainly sensed Anakin's connection to the force.

That means that Maul was given no special instructions regarding Anakin; in fact, it strongly suggests that Sidious did not know of Anakin at that point ( as TPM implies ).

Remember the old rumours about the probe droid saying what sounds like "qui-gon jin and the boy" when it reports to Maul?
He knew all along that Palpatine was the father!
Seriously, Maul should been taken out by Anakin in ROTS.

Anakin was absolutely not on Maul's radar. He was only interested in the Jedi and the Queen. Maul was just making a straight approach to Qui-Gon, and Anakin was in the way. That's it.

I can understand why Lucas created Dooku. He wanted a more intelligent and politically minded Sith, a role that Maul doesn't really fit. However, Greivous on the other hand fills basically the identical role of Maul, ie Sidious' muscle.
This is just an idea off the top of my head, but what if Maul had survived TPM, and then fills Fett's role in AOTC. So it is Maul who tries to kill Padme, and Maul who is used as the base for the clones. He again manages to survive and then takes Grievous' role in ROTS. Finally being killed by Obi-Wan.
Now, I have issues with the PT that go beyond the death of Maul, however, I think that such a scenario but be a better use of his character. As it stands now Maul, Grievous and Fett are all throw away villains. They only have one film each and are then simply killed off. Maul could have been similar to Vader, a continuous villain throughout the trilogy. I think that could have worked well.

But if Maul was used for the clones, wouldn't that make all of the clones Force-sensitive? Maybe if there were only a few of him made and the rest were from Jango Fett, then that would be a differant way of the Clone War..

I think Fett was needed for the clones, as it adds a more creative background story with Fett helping train them. Meanwhile I do agree Maul should have been in all 3 however, dooku is essential to the clone war and grevious is a pretty sweet character but he could be replaced by maul, yet where does that leave him in AOTC?

to u blu-bladed-jedi if maul was left in the movie until ROTS, in place of general grevious he would have probly just died, just like general grevious, he wouldnt be needed any more.
but yes if he was used for the clones in AOTC, they most likely would have been force-sensitive, but remeber they tampered with the genetic structure so mayB it might have been different...

Some people say they have a problem with the idea of Maul leading the Seperatists, but I have a greater issue with Maul during the OT. Imagine that tattooed freak walking the bridge of a Super Stardestroyer alongside guys like Piett, Tarkin and Ozzel. That's just strange. But he could do it.

I know he would have died, clearly. But I'm just saying that it would have been interesting to see his character develop in the web of sidious' lies throughout the PT. Clearly he would have been killed.

Good question. I've often thought it might have worked nicely if Maul and Dooku were unknowingly being pitted against one another by Sidious to see who would emerge as the top dog, much like he pits father against son in ROTJ.
It would all culminate in a 4-way Anakin/Obi-Wan/Dooku/Maul duel at the end of AOTC that would see Maul betrayed and Dooku as Sidious' new lap dog.
Maul would seek revenge against his master in ROTS and be offed by Sidious' new lap dog: Vader.

So what would be the point in keeping him around, if he is just going to lose to three people, instead of just one? He already has a loss to a Padawan on his record, and now we are talking about having him lose to both Count Dooku and Anakin as well? Leave him dead.

Maul has a way better record than whiny ani. Lets see, Vader has never defeated a Jedi master, he has had all his limbs chopped off multiple times, and he lost to a padawan (his own son at that).
Lol, it should have been vader that got chopped in half!
