Who is boba fett? I think it is right that maul died, but i would have liked to have known more about him. I don't think TPM was as good as the other movies, i must say maul did add that little bit extra though!

Nothing was cooler than Boba Fett, pre-Special Editions. Then the PT kind of ruined his character. Too much Darth Maul could have the same effect. It's like knowing too much about the Alien and Predator, or having too much backstory on Michael Myers or Hannibal Lecter. Less is more.

Yeah but Maul is totally different than Boba Fett.
Boba's story can be 'watered down' while there is no way you can water down Maul's.
He was raised from birth to be evil by arguably the most evil man in cinema history....
There would be no "daaaaad Taun we is here" moments in the Sidious household.
EDIT:
to be honest with you I dont think Lucas could even handle anymore Maul.
If anybody were to do anything else on Maul it would have to be someone like Tarantino or somebody.....Lucas is too "Fraggle Rock" for anymore Darth Maul.

Quentin Tarantino has officially jumped the shark.

I'd have to go with Cronenberg for a Darth Maul backstory movie! A History of Violence and Eastern Promises sold me.

I think it would be an interesting read, but I think you need Lucas because others tend to go beserk and off the deep end within the scope of the SW Universe. From mute Force ghosts, to flow walking, to Palpy forgetting he died in ROTJ....

Maybe they could avoid that by having Lucas oversee the stuff in the movie or book, but have someone compatant to flesh out the story.

Qui-Gon was the original "mute" Force ghost...

He definately should have never died. First all, he had one of the sweetest double sided lightsaber. Secondly he took on both jedi at the same time so the guy deserves some credit. He takes out the more experienced master jedi himself and then they kill him off the most pathetic way possible. I dont care if Obi-Wan was lighting fast jumping out of the hole, Darth Maul had the high ground. As we learn in episode 3, you dont even try to jump at a man/woman with a lightsaber in their hand when they have high ground (anakin/obi battle). So how he died really kinda ruined his reputation as a skilled sith. They made it look like he just stood there and let Obi-Wan cut him in half.

Actually he did just stand there and let Obi-wan cut him in half. Call it a theory, but I think they had to make his character do something unnatural like that because they had made him into such a good fighter, that logically Obi-wan could not have beaten him. It looks unnatural because he looks like he is a practiced fighter and well trained, and seemed to be on the ball and alert, but it looks like he had forgotten his warrior training when Obi goes to kill him. It is done so Obi can kill him.
In real life, Darth Maul would not have just stood there watching Obi-wan. As Obi-wan jumps out Darth Maul would have reacted at the same time, perhaps by stepping aside or by raising his lightsaber when he sees Obi flying out of the pit. Since he is Force-sensitive and trained by one of the best men in Sith buisiness, he would have been surprised, but only for a fraction of a second. He would have recovered quickly from his shock.
He would not just have stood there, Maul is too good of a fighter to do that, and it is out of character. That is why I think it looks odd.

I agree. Maul's surprise would have evaporated rather quickly and he should have been at least able to defend himself. Story wise, he needed to die and having Obi-Wan flip over him and cut him in two looks cool on screen, albeit a little flawed in execution.

my god 112 pages dedicated to the most shallow, 2 dimensional villain in star wars.
I have always been of the opinion that he should have died on the cutting room floor.
Since it was obvious when episode 2 came out that Maul was always designed as a throw away character, not one that could accomplish Sidious goals in the civil war he started, i have always thought a different villain would have been better.
Maul had the look, background and style to be a major villain, such a waste.
It would have been more fair to the audience not to whet our appetite with a good villain and then toss him away.

Maul was no less shallow that Darth Tyranus or Darth Sidious, they just had more dialogue.

That's my point!!!!!!!!!!
they should not have teased us with him only to throw him away.
either give us the character for the trilogy and develop him or don't.
My one and only objection to the character is his short span, lack of dialog and development.
I feel like they either wasted a film they could have developed a villain in to use in the other two films or they wasted 2 films they could have developed Darth Maul in.
Either way, i think it was a bad decision to introduce him for 1 film.

I agree. He was a "teaser" character, his face was plastered on a whole bunch of junk just to draw people in and make them curious enough to want to watch the movie. But once we got to watch the movie, in his place we get a lot of Jar Jar and podracing.
I have heard a lot of people say for them that Darth Maul is the major saving grace of the Phantom Menace, and also the fact that this thread is 112 pages long on the subject of Maul's death, tends to speak volumes.
