	Currently reading The Making of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, this is from page 156: Friday, October 31, 2003 ILM: As promised on the [Ep. III] set, Lucas has cut together and turned over seven brief Yoda scenes [for Ep. III], which amount to ninety-eight shots, for Coleman and his animation team to get started on. "I'm in a very good place right now," Coleman says. In fact, his department has nearly finished replacing the Episode I Yoda puppet with digital Yoda—an exercise that Lucas and Coleman agreed would serve as a good warm-up—so the animation department is now primed and ready for Yoda's Episode III performance. There it is. Let the debate over when we'll see it begin.

	In fact, his department has nearly finished replacing the Episode I Yoda puppet with digital Yoda—an exercise that Lucas and Coleman agreed would serve as a good warm-up—so the animation department is now primed and ready for Yoda's Episode III performance. Well, if you want to get technical, there's nothing confirmed here about Yoda being replaced with CG in TPM. All it says is that as a form of exercise, Lucas had them edit him over. For practice. Yoda could be replaced in TPM, but this is by far a confirmation of it.

	I like the TPM puppet, but if it's replaced by CG, I won't complain. Either way is fine with me. Puppets - they are not CG /LM

	I would be fine about them replacing TPM Yoda digitally. Seriously, the RotS Yoda looks much more real then TPM Yoda. 	It isn't confirmed that it will be in the film. It was just a practice exercise - they did a digital model of the ESB Yoda to prepare for AOTC, yet nothing was changed there. -----signature----- I steal candy from babies to prevent childhood obesity.

	There's no reason to think this was just an exercise because they didn't need another exercise. The tests they did with ESB footage were before AOTC to prove a digital Yoda was possible. They already know how to do it after AOTC. By scheduling the TPM work right before starting on ROTS Yoda, it doubles as a warm-up.

	If it was only a test, redoing AOTC scenes with the ROTS Yoda in a side-by-side comparison would show off technical improvements much better redoing TPM scenes. Yoda's scenes in TPM are very limited by comparison. I think people should assume digital Yoda will be in the next release of TPM because it's much harder to come up with a reason why he wouldn't be, now that the work has been done. The point of changing Yoda in TPM is to change his appearance but the point of doing it in the OT, to make him look the same but more lifelike but somehow not change what people love about him, probably isn't worth the time and money to Lucas. Maybe he'd just have them digitally animate the lips or replace only the head. Or do nothing. EDIT: the whole Yoda situation is proof Lucas does care about fans. Imagine Lucas saying that the "new improved" Yoda puppet in TPM is the way Yoda was always supposed to look, then making digital Yoda look like that, and replacing OT Yoda with PT Yoda. That would be what he would do if he didn't care about fans at all. After all, he approved the way TPM Yoda looked.
