You should have Darth Maul v.s. Not suited Darth Vader. Vader would kick Maul's ass easily without the suit. With the suit, he's the chosen one. He can't die until he completes his destiny so Maul would lose, just like he did in the Ressurection Comic.

Have any of you ever read STAR WARS Tales?
The addressed this issue specifically.
Maul had Vader on the ropes, constantly throwing insults at him about him being a jedi and still being having a spark of light.

Here, I'll just tell the whole story...
STAR WARS

Featuring Darth Vader and Darth Maul in a duel to the death! [great cover art]
Ok, so Vader and some storm troopers land on this darg world lit up by fire in the sky. They are there because they believe this ancient [sith] temple is a rebel base [which contains stolen plans, presumably to the DS]. He splits the storm toopers into two groups, one to enter the temple with him, and a larger one to patrol the foggy area surrounding it.
We see the storm troopers outside methodically offed one by one by a red lightsaber.
Meanwhile, Vader enters into the temple, which we learned it was a fortress built by a politician and a group of followers who believed that world was the focul point of the dark side. They practice sith magick until the guy goes crazy and kill them all.
Anyways, Vader is walking with his two troopers who are jabbering away about the history when they are force choked to death. They think it's Vader, but he did nothing. He then finds three figures clothed in black, claiming he is not worthy for his master. "We deem you worthy because of who you once were... Anakin Skywalker."
Vader is outraged and swings his blade at the three alchemists as he says, "How dare you?! You bring this upon yourselves!", only for it to be blocked by another red blade. He turns to see "Darth MAUL?"
They explain to Vader how there are ways of bringin those who are no more back into existence. They believe they have ressurected a worthy apprentice for "the master."
They want him to duel Maul to the death, but Darth Vader basically says, screw it. I'll just kill you right now, but they counter that with the 'it'll always eat at you and make you wonder if you could beat him blah blah blah.' So, Vader pauses. Then they say this: [I love this line]
"Will you face him?"
"I will kill him."
Then they fight. Maul kicks Vader in the face near off the bat. Vader exclaims, "Maul is dead! You are a sham!"
"No. You are the sham. Jedi.I can see it in you still... A lone light in the darkness you refuse to extinguish. Not like me. My darkness... My hatred... is unending."
They fight some more and go deeper into the fortress [they are in a giant room with lava flowign at the bottom. They are high above it.]
Vader: "I don't need help to destroy an imposter. [after he used the dead storm troopers to shoot maul and maul threw them into the lava and said they won't help him]"
"It's you who wears the mask... You who hides his unworthiness. Tell me.. *smack him in the face* which of us is truly an imposter?"
They manage to get onto a bridge hung by wires over the lava. Maul says, "Surprising, Jedi. You stand your ground against me. I wonder.. *cuts a cable* are you as confident... *cuts cable* when you can't depend on... *they fall* teh ground beneath you?"
*Vader grabs cable and breaks his fall*
"You land with Grace, Jedi. Did you leanr nothing from the master? 'Never break a fall. If you are prepared to break your fall, you are prepared for the fall itself. Sith do not fall. There is no pain where strength lies.'"
Now they are throwing blows as they meet each other in mid air over the lava. Running up the sides of the wall and jumping from rock to rock as Maul says "follow me... if you can." So, Vader chases him and then they meet in mid air again.
They find their way back onto a platform and Maul cuts Vader in the stomach, spewing sparks everywhere. "Come to me," Maul says as he motions to Vader. "We'll finish this."
"Yes... We'll finish this."
"How can you be a fit servant for the master? You're more machine *blocks blow* than man *block blow* How can a machine hate? How will you defeat me? I slew Obi Wan's master."
"And Obi Wan *winds up* SLEW YOU! *slices Maul's Vader in half*"
Maul stares down at the two ends of his lightsaber and growls at Vader as he ignites both ends to hold two lightsabers. Maul goes all out... Vader is trying to stay alive as Maul is in a rage. Maul hits Vader in the fore head with the butt of his handle, spewing sparks everywhere *sparks are now emitting from his forehead AND gut*.
Vader is on his knees, facing away from Maul as Maul proclaims, "Now your master will have an apprentice worthy of the sith." Maul looks behind him as wee see them on a giant cliff overlooking the lava. "No Jedi pyre for you, Skywalker." *Vader looks to his lightsaber ten feet or so in front of him* "your hate was not nearly enough..." *Maul raises his blade executioner style and begins to swing down*
Vader reaches out in desperation to his weapon, just as Maul's red blade comes within inches of Vader's head, the lightsaber reaches Vader's hand and is ignited backwards between his torso and arm... straight into Maul's stomach.
"GAHH!" He cries. "what... could you hate enough... to destroy me?"
Vader stares at Maul as he falls to hsi knees and says, "Myself."
Vader turns to the three "sith."
"I told you... You bring this upon yourselves." Just as he swings, they are electricuted by blue lightning to reveal teh emperor standing behind them.
Vader doesn't know why Sidious is there, so he asks. The emperor makes up some bs excuse and acts like he had nothing to do with it. They go to leave. Vader pauses for a moment in contemplation. With that, he gets up and leaves.

I believed they compiled the first 10 Tales issues into a graphic novel. Go get it! [each tales issue contaisn three to four stories]
edit2: nobody make an icon of this because 1- I call it and 2- I already made 4.

I think that Maul would win. Obi-Wan wasn't defeated by Vader, he basically commited suicide so that he could "become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." Plus Vader has to wear that cumbersome black suit. Maul also is quicker and has a double bladed lightsaber.

maul would make sushi out of vader's ass.
now on an intellectual level.
maul definitely is VERY athletic and probably a better swordsman. however, even it came down to wits and force power, anakin is far more strong. however, a lot of battles end in the survival of the fittest. plus, he's got that cool double bladed lightsaber.

Vader, and I dont think it would be quite like the comic. Vader would kill Maul with his blade in his hand. He just has more strength, power and shere will then Maul to lose to the horned one.

Personally, I don’t believe that Maul, for all his intimidation and flashiness, is the supreme fighter that he is made out to be. I’d argue that Dooku could take him out, as could Mace Windu. Vader, even encumbered, has such strength with the force that Maul’s speed and athleticism wouldn’t avail him too much IMHO. It’d be a great fight, but my money is on the chosen one.

It's a tough call, but I think the Jedi Tales more or less turns out how I think it is. It would be a close draw, with Maul's speed being his advantage, but I think Vader's overwhelming power and more tactically focused mind would win out. Badly wounded, but still the winner.
Before we get into the whole "but Obi Wan beat Anakin!" argument, I think it's only fair to point out that there are many emotional and environmental variables contributing to Anakin's failure in ROTS. Had it been a fight based purely on power, where psychological control was not an issue, I fairly well believe Anakin would have eventually wound up mopping the floor with Obi Wan. And by the time I see Vader and Maul going at it, Vader's gained alot more control.

Everyone is talking about how cumbersome Vader's armor is.
In real life, yes, but in SW, I would disagree.
Vader's arms and legs are machinery, right?
So, the weight of teh suit on his arm wouldn't matter because his arm isn't flesh and bone. His muscles woudln't stress against the weight because they have been replaced by gears and wires. Same with his legs.
I say he moves around fine. Just cause we don't see him running around all over the place and jumping down five stories doesn't mean he couldn't.
[BTW, that was not a spoiler. I'm not sure exactly what parts of his body are missing, but I'm pretty sure, based on the OT and EU, that he doesn't have arms and legs]

I still would stick with Darth Maul depsite what the comic says. Sure, Vader can probably move around fine. He is part machine and therfore he doesnt really feel as much as a human does.
Part of the reason Darth Maul lost to Vader in this was one, it looks like it was setup to begin with by the Emperor, and two, Maul was talking to much trash. If he had kept his mouth shut and strctily tried to kill Darth Vader, then he would have succeded.
