You know what's sad is that all this talk about monsters and Dracula doesn't make me want to watch the old films.

It makes me want to eat a bowl of breakfast cereal with little flavored marshmallows!

I read Grevious's walk was based on Nosferatu.

It reminds me very much of the skekses as well from the Dark Crystal, which isn't really 1930's, but did involve frank oz...

If anyone has seen the 1930's Ben Hur, you'll see that the scene where Ben Hur rescues what's his name(the general/his future father) looks an awful lot like Luke rescuing Vader from the Death Star. Especially the way that Ben Hur drags around the armored body.

"Who's Ben Hur?"

"You see that guy over there?"

"Him?"

"Yeah, him. That's Hur."

"Oh, he's one of those..." *waves wrist*

I just had a thought... an epiphany, if you will.

The afore mentioned disgruntled fan reviewer, as I pointed out, compared her to "the Bride of Frankenstein" - naturally. During the infamous (I guess...?) "hairbrush" scene, where, coincidentally, some have pointed out how "the lighting" made Padme look "terrible" (even though I personally thought she looked hotter than ever... but then, I can identify with the Monster... um, I mean Anakin.). I’m sure that they would Blame Lucas for the “cheesy-ness” of the segment, not realizing the Director's Vision.

Anyway, it’s very eenterestink that she is brushing her *curly* hair *down* - something that someone with curly hair would never even *think* about doing - fro-osity inevitably ensues.

Seeing as how Padme has naturally straight hair, Lucas must be trying to *say* something in this scene: *MAYBE* The Bride is letting her hair down, therefore, no cone-shaped do. <Sidious laugh>

P.S. People who dislike the “hairbrush” scene, and/or the “Franken-Vader” scene Just... don’t... get it. And I have always thought that Lily Munster was a babe. lol

Grievous reminded me of the six-armed goddess from the Golden Voyage of Sinbad, and his henchmen reminded me of the skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts, and the one from the 7th Voyage of Sinbad, thus another time when Lucas pays homage to Ray Harryhausen.

Evil Anakin and Palpatine after his transformation reminded both of vampires.

I have no problem with the Frankenstein like Vader coming off the table, for I always figured that he would have to adjust to his new limbs. This is why I fully accepted not seeing suited Vader not hunting or fighting any Jedi near the end of the film.

Darth Sin cool

Heh..

One way to kill Dracula was to cut off his head and Frankenstein's monster feared fire.

Thank you, Irdmonarch. wink

I was going to mention the fact that the duel on the Invisible Hand could be looked at, from a certain point of view, as "Dracula Vs. Frankenstein", but I decided to wait a while, and now you did it for me!

I really appreciate the validation. happy

No, Whitey, he sounds like Dracula from Bram Stoker's movie adaption.

The only aspect missing from this movie is the casting of a darker haired, full-busted female costar. A female who eats a regular meal, not 8 saltine crackers stacked to build a sandwhich.

Well, we had Aayla Secura, for as long as she lasted. She had no hair, but her head-tails were dark, and she had a rack on her like...

Anyway, I think that proves that Anakin wasn't in love with Padme's body, he was in love with Padme. He was really in love with her.

I like how the Padme, upon seeing the Monster Anakin has become under Sidious teachings, recoils from him. Padme, as the "Bride of Frankenstein" before her, might as well have screeched like a banshee. But that would have been 'gratuitous'. lol

"I don't think argues against the fact of his artificial legs. BUT I think it could have been portrayed in a completely different way. Not in that Frankenstein way.

But that's just me. It doesn't seem to bother a lot of people.

It REALLY bothered me. And I stress the word "REALLY"... Maybe the most relevant and trascendental moment throughout the whole saga and Mr. Lucas decides making it look a "funny moment" giving homeage to Frankenstein??? I tell you, a couple of seconds more into such "parody" or "bad acting" and that scene alone would've ruined Episode III for me...

The good thing is, this thread kind of is helping me digest it a little more... "

Actually, look at his legs.
The reason why Vader takes that akward Frankensteinish first step is because he has binders on his legs and his breaking them off the same as the binders on his wrist. Its not that he's walking strange, its that he's straining to get free.

But still, the "Frankenstein Effect" is obvious, even to the casual viewer.

Don't hate the "Frankenstein Effect". GL did it on purpose.

Savvy?

"Frankenstein Effect" - I like that wink

I must admit, that on first seeing this scene it was somewhat arkward - but on the second viewing it had already grown on me and I knew GL is genius in creating emotions happy

Hm, I connected "Phantom Menace" with "Phantom of the Opera" from the start - for there were some hints to it, must see all 3 movies in row to get the other points of it ...

Set aside the whole Horror thing and focus on the 30/40ties there are more clues to the story:

- Rocketman (Commando Cody): somewhat the prototype for the Fetts

- Film Noir: I really like(d) how Obi-Wan got investigating the mystery (of the Sith)

- Western Movies: do I need to say "The Searchers"?

Oh, well to conclude my post I can confirm that Palpatine and Tion really reminded me of Bram Stokers Dracula (read the book, you wil get a shock!) - hehe, nice one with "Dracula vs Frankenstein"
