On the line of Classic Horror monsters being 'resurected' as SW characters, about a month or so before RotS was releast, I read an article on Starwars.com about how Mathew Wood got the part for Grievous. In it, he said, basicly, the he saw Grievous as a Vampiric character. Which makes seanse when one thinks about it: The way he hunts his victms, his sadistic pleasure with collecting their Lightsabers. One COULD aurgue that Grievous is sort of a SW equivlent to a Vampire. Of course, that hunch Grievous has could also go for him being an Igor homage as well.

Winston_Sith posted: :::Actually, look at his legs.
The reason why Vader takes that akward Frankensteinish first step is because he has binders on his legs and his breaking them off the same as the binders on his wrist. Its not that he's walking strange, its that he's straining to get free.
But still, the "Frankenstein Effect" is obvious, even to the casual viewer.
Don't hate the "Frankenstein Effect". GL did it on purpose.
Savvy?
I don't have the quote in front of me at the moment, but in the Making of ROTS Book Hayden Christensen comments about how awkard it is to walk in the Vader suit and GL tells him that he doesn't want him to "practice" in it.
He wants it to look awkward.
The Frankenstein walk is deliberate. Sidious has created a Monster.

When I first saw Vader being risen from the table, it reminded just like the scene in "Bride of Frankenstein," when she is being brought up from the table. And then to top it off, Sidious asks Vader "Can you hear me?" very similar to when Frankenstein and Pretorious are checking if the Bride is alive. And when Vader starts to walk, very stiff and akward like the Monster. There can easily be made a case that ROTS is indeed somewhat influenced by the monster movies of the 30's, and Sidious even looks and sounds like Pretorious.

Good observation, but he also pulls from a variety of other references. Watch the crawl in the beginning of the original "Forbiddden Planet" It is also yellow but moves differently.

I also thought Wookiees could be alot like Planet of the Apes and when Yoda said goodbye to the Wookies thats want really touch me, It was alot like ET visting the Ape Planet. Lucas pretty much Borrows other peoples Ideas.
Jabba the Hutt is the Bloob, Darth Maul is Satan/Lucifer the Devil, and Hence Obi-wan being the Holy Ghost.
Heres my Wizard of Oz Theroy, Leia is Dorthay because she wishs for a home, Han solo is the Sacercrow needs a brain, Luke is the Tin man needs a Hart, Chewie is the Cowardly Lion because Han calls him a Coward, and Artoo is TODO. Yoda is the Wizard of Oz and Plapatine is the wicked Warlock of the West Instead of being the Witch, and Obi-wan being the Warlock of the North instead of the Witch from the North, and the Jawas being the Mochcans going evil.
Like the Concept?

There's also Grievous's 1920's serial villian motif. The melodramtic lines, the finger gestures. Heck, all that was missing was a stovepipe hat, big moustache, and him tying Padme or Aalya to a hovertrain track.

Sure, Lucas' makeup artist(s) used the Planet of the Apes technology to create Chewbacca's face.

Isn't that, at least the REAL PARTS, what somebody else said in an earlier post?
Anyway, stop mocking me!!!
It <sarcasm> HURTS </sarcasm>!!!!
[sarcasm]I just pwned you n00b![/sarcasm]
Anyway, Why do people think that the Neimoidians, General Grievous, Tion Meddon, and, I haven't heard it yet, but maybe even Watto, all have Transylvanian accents?
They all sound really different to me.
Maybe different 'dialects'?

I thought the same thing. Some people on this site were 'offended' by the General, for that reason...
Did I just type the word 'morons...'?
Yes, I suppose I did.

Reminds me of Maddox’s review which I will have to edit.
“ the character "General Grievous" a bad guy so sinister, his very name stands for PAIN AND SUFFERING…All Grievous needed was a monocle, and a large black moustache that he could twirl as he cackled "I'll get you, if it's the last thing I do!"

OK...this is more of an OT horror movie reference but.....GL got some inspiration for R2-D2 from the leggless dude from Tod Browning's controversial film, "FREAKS".
See the little guy on the right side of photo.
