They're members of two different species that are genetically related but are from different planets.

Can't the Republic ship pick up the signal from Palpatine's beacon the same way Anakin and Obi-Wan did from a greater distance?
I've always wondered that too.

Quick question. I'm re-reading portions of the ROTS novelization and page 55 (19th line of the hard cover) states...
"When he announces the creation of a new order of Force using warriors."
Is this a reference to Dark Jedi or Dark Acolytes? I had no idea this was part of Sid's/Sith plan.
Thanks.

IIRC it's a reference to what Dooku thinks will happen.
Of course, in actuality Sidious has no such plans.

Poor Dooku. It's almost sad to realize how naive Count Dooku was in believing Sidious would keep him as an apprentice with someone as powerful as Anakin around. With all of Dooku's talk, he never even saw the end coming until he was staring it in the face.

Yeah he did look mighty surprised in ROTS when palpatine was telling anakin to "do it". do you think it dawned on dooku in that second that palpatine was sidious? or a sith?

Dooku knew all along that Palpatine was Sidious, however he was led to believe that Anakin would simply be brought on a a new Sith, not his replacement.

Thanks Fenn. I almost forgot how severely Sidious played everyone he dealt with.

Dooku knew about Palpatine but Grevious didn't. I think the film deals with it well enough, but of course the novelization is great for added information. Everyone should read it, it's nearly better than the movie.

yea, I wish they would have done the Count Dooku duel in the movie like it's described in the book have. Plus some other stuff from the other stuff from the book should've been in the movie.

I dont think it was dealt with in the movie at all..as I'm a bright girl and wouldn't have missed that.
but I do intend to read the novel though.

RS is absolutely correct. Dooku knew of Palpatine's true identity, but Grievous did not. The novel is a great read and something that I would recommend to anyone. It adds a lot of detail to the story that is left out by the film.

Labyrinth of Evil also makes this quite clear.
