Does anyone here think that Palpsy was playing matchmaker and purposely put Anakin and Padme together?
I was watching AOTC. I noticed how slyly palpatine suggests that an "old friend" be assigned to protect amidala. I am certain Anakin opened up to him about his feelings for Padme or perhaps he sensed or foresaw he'd be with her. I think he may have put them together to create conflict between Anakin and his commitment, thereby creating a wedge between him and the Jedi order. Even Anakin realizes that protecting a senator was a job for local security.
I am a little surprised the council went along with the suggestion though.
What do you guys think?

What was Palpatines first/whole name? I don't recall him ever being called anything but senator/chancellor Palpetine, no other name. So is he like Cher or Madonna or what ?

Grievous93 posted: Where did Grievous' escape pod take him to after he jettisoned from the Invisible Hand?
"He used a grappling hook installed in his arm to latch onto the hull of the ship and fled in one of the escape pods, which was later picked up by a Lucrehulk-class battleship. Realizing that his objective had failed, the General and his fleet retreated. The general then managed to board his Sheathipede-class transport shuttle and head for the recently secured planet Utapau in the Outer Rim Territories, where the Separatist Council was hiding."

DARTH_BELO posted: I have always wondered this. I don't know about anyone else, but in my opinion, the beginning of the story of ROTS seems like we kind of came in to the middle of something. That is in fact what did happen. But I always wondered if that bothered anyone.
My personal view is that the whole movie seems more exciting and intense if we come into the opening sequence with as much action as ROTS did. It caught me right away. But there were also times that I kept thinking, "...But what happened before that? How did they get to this point?" Almost as if I turned on the TV to watch a program I love, and I missed the first half of it.
For the most part, the other episodes start at a point that more represents the beginning of a story, (or in this case, the beginning of a PART of the story .)
I was interested in hearing everyone else's take on this!
Does anyone else share my feelings on this matter?
To me, each and everyone of the star wars movies starts this way. What really bothered me was that episode I begins this way... It would have been interesting to see a star wars episode with an actual beginning...maybe something akin to the superman movie where you start with the the main character really young and born into slavery, move ahead more years to meeting Qui Gon and being taken in my the Jedi, then move ahead a few more years having him defeat Darth Maul as a Padawan learner.

So at all I didn't get it. Does Sidious "warp" his lightsaber in from far away, or does he actually have it under his belt, but hidden and quickly grabs it? And what's with that "crack"ing noise when he takes it out, but even after that you hear it multiple times during the Sidious/Mace battle.
What is that noise?
Also, why does in the EP III screenplay say that Anakin walks into Shaak Ti's room during the slaughter and kills her, but it was filmed with Grevious killing Shaak Ti?

To answer your first question, it is stated in the ROTS novel. It says that he smuggled his saber in one of the sculptures in his private office when he was getting moved in shortly after Volorum was kicked out. Then he just took it out once he sensed the Posse coming.
And Anikan never kills Shaak Ti - she tries to stop him when he is on his way to try to stop the arrest (which by now is about to be an assassination) and he simply tells her to get out of the way. Shaak Ti is killed in a deleted scene by Greivous, but since it wasn't in the movie, it isn't considered cannon.

There are many instances when the novel does not follow along with the movie, sometimes things are totally different. Like then Anakin says "Obi-Wan" in the novel during the immolation scene; GL cut it out because he didn't want people to confuse Anakin's brotherly love for Obi-Wan with 'redemption'. I just take what I want from both and meld together a story of my own, lol.

It has always been my understanding that Sidious kept his lightsaber hidden in his office and when Mace and the posse arrive, he had placed it in his robe/belt.
As for Shaak Ti. She had two death scenes, both of which were filmed (her death on the Invisible Hand and her death at Anakin's hands). However both scenes were cut so officially she lives on. As far as I know, she will make an appearance in the upcoming Force Unleashed video game.
