For those of you that don't frequent the JCC, Rhonderoo has just given us word that ThatWascallyDroid, or Jeff to his friends, has passed away. He was 26 years old.
Jeff was one of the regulars of this forum, he was respected and well liked. He will be deeply missed.
God bless, my friend. May you find peace.

Wow. I'm so sorry. I enjoyed his sense of humor and his thoughtful posts. 26 is alarmingly young to die. I'm suddenly inspired to read through his old posts; I guess it's the only way I know of to honor and remember this young man whom I knew, if at all, only through his love of STAR WARS.

OMG! This is absolutely devastating and shocking.
I can't believe this.
Not wishing to pry too much, but was he ill or was his passing very sudden?
His achievements here will be long remembered. He was indeed a moderator of 3SA for a few months. He also joined the recent Focus Group to help bring forward a solution to the gusher/basher problem following the closure of the basher sanctuary. He did this for the good of our community and it speaks volumes that be passionatly cared about this community. He was also a prolific poster in Moleman1138's Chapter By Chapter discussion's. Certainly the discussion I took part with him in, the Episode III CBC, every single post from him was thoughful, intelligent, brilliantly written and a pleasure to read. Simply a giant of our community and a huge loss.
I'm so very sorry and my condolances go out to all his friends and family. He was a great guy.

It was unexpected. His family doesn't wish to elaborate. My heart goes out to them.

If it was sudden, then hopefully he didn't suffer.
I'm feeling really sad about this. Such a shock.

......I can't beleive it. I'm in shock. I never posted with him and he never really knew me, but I can tell you, I would always pay attention when one of his posts would come up and I really enjoyed his insight. My heart goes out to his family...well Jeff....you will always be remembered and your opinions will be recorded here on the forums forever.
May the force be with you, my dear fellow Star Wars fan.

I too enjoyed his delightful and insightful banter from the time I first joined the 3SA in '03. His words will live on in the archives, faint but glorious insight into his heart, mind and soul.
None of us know if we will still be here tomorrow. But surely one who lived life so deeply was not afraid of death. Farewell, traveler!
For what is it to die,
But to stand in the sun and melt into the wind?

My thoughts and love go out to his family and friends. I'm always amazed at how close you can get to someone on these boards. I'm crying at the loss and I didn't even know his real name.

This is terrible news.
Please. God. This has to be a joke. HAS to be. By golly, if someone was faking this, I'd forgive them. If only to have Jeff back.
I... really can't talk right now. This is like a bolt out of the blue. I only really knew Jeff through the CBC discussions and the little bit I seem to recall him posting about himself in the Focus Group "getting to know everyone" thread. What a horrible shock.
I really feel empty. I'm very Anakin-esque right now. Jeff, if you're watching, please forgive that cheap SW reference, but that's how I feel! It's very selfish of me to go on about myself, but that's how much Jeff impacted on me. 26? What an utter b*astard this world is. Jeff really enriched this place with his presence. And I really mean that. I'm gonna go through all the CBCs and save each and every one. I was meaning to do that, as it happens, but now that Jeff has gone, I feel I should have all his remarks saved, preserved, valued, honoured. I will cherish what he wrote and what he gave us. I really feel like a family member just died. Rest in peace, Jeff.

I have a great admiration for George. These films are very well-intentioned. All right, they make tremendous amounts of money and appeal to kids, but they say good things, and they say them in a broad way. I believe in the Star Wars films. - Ian McDiarmid

I know how you feel Cryo. I felt completely shocked and very upset when I first read this.
There a thread in JCC about this. Drop in and share your memories if it will help you feel better.

Thanks. I was one step ahead of you and sought it out myself. A Jedi must think on his toes.
I guess I can talk. Heck, I can yack the ear off this forum when I get going. And so could Jeff. But he always did it so well.
You know what's funny about all this? Now, bear in mind, I'm not mad or anything, even though I actually kinda was until I heard this news (it's helped put things into perspective a little), but... Moleman didn't make the last chapter! I waited and waited and waited. Finally, I made a thread about it on here, and then darth-sinister closed it, telling me to PM him instead. So, I did, and Moleman replied almost instantly, which was very decent of him, if a little strange, and told me the last chapter would be going up the very next day. That was about 2 weeks ago! And now we'll never hear Jeff's thoughts. That's really sad, but somehow amusing at the same time. Does that make any sense? Sad that Jeff will never post in that formalised last chapter, but also amusing that my mind would think of that, and amusing in some other weird fashion that I can't quite articulate right now. Perhaps that last chapter should never go up. Just for Jeff.

"Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter".
Probably one of the quirkiest and funniest posters I've been involved with at the JC.
He was in both 3SA and 3NS, and was always very considerate when I reined him in.
May his memory be eternal.

a truly sad day. I so enjoyed his posts - I put him on my watchlist when I found myself looking for his latest posts - they always made me think and smile, sometimes concurrently.
and so young.
He will be missed.
