Where did Liam Nesson say it? What did he say?

I second that request. It'd be nice to actually read these mythic, little-seen Liam Neeson grumblings.

I assume most of you have read the PR Inside article, wherein McGregor was purported to have expressed regret doing the trilogy, deeming them "the worst work he's done." Check it out:

http://www.pr-inside.com/mcgregor-dislikes-star-wars-movies-r210505.htm

Sure, this isn't the first time McGregor's lashed out at the franchise, and he certainly has progenitors (recall Neeson's grousing), but after reading this, I'm starting to think that in ten years time, the PT fanbase will constitute all of three people: George Lucas, myself, and that Lard Biscuit fellow. It's isolating enough being a fan without the bloody ACTORS(?!?!) going on the offense.

Did any of the actors actually enjoy being a part of cinematic history?

As if he's the first? Harrison Ford and Sir Alec Guiness anyone?

Let me bring this back up....

On topic, in 1997 *everybody* was excited to be involved in Star Wars. That it turned out different then what actors, model builders, costume makers, editors, sound engineers, the fans et al thought, well I would say that is the risk of the business. If it wasn't for the OT they probably wouldn't be involved in the first place.
Because it is Star Wars perhaps they didn't read the scripts and contracts and had shorter and very different meetings with George Lucas as would normally happen. So, perhaps they went "Do I wanna be in Star Wars. H@77 yes!" and signed the contract there and then.

A bit of topic and why I bring this topic up, is the following.
I visit some (SW) conventions and the most SW related stuff is OT. There are sometimes some 'talk shows' and it is mostly between (with all respect to them) old men...... Besides one or two PT actors (mostly Daniel Logan and Ray Park) it is all about memories, anecdotes and stories older then the amount of years you would spend in the Sarlacc pit.

Ewan should be pleased with his work. He was the best actor in the PT.

I think it's the fact that every time someone sees Ewan and recognizes him, all they think about is " OH MY GOD, HE PLAYED OBI-WAN KENOBI!"

same thing with Sir Alec Guinness. It's not the fact that they outright hate the PT or OT, it's that out of all the things they either did before, during, or after their stint in star wars, people only talk to them about Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Jedi, not Bridge on the River Kwai or "Robots".

Ewan had an experience after TPM came out, where two fans with the toy sabers wanted to have him spare with them. He had to turn them down because he didn't want anyone to get hurt and he be held liable for it. See, in that case, if I met a celeb, I wouldn't go around gushing about one particular project. I'd mention other stuff so that it wouldn't be all about Star Wars or something else.

The actors of the OT didn't see themselves as part of history, right out. It only became that over time. Some of the PT actors did go in because of the history factor. Others, not so much. It's one thing to read a script, and another to act it out. That's what Ford meant when he made that now infamous quote. That's why so many actors wind up ad-libing their lines as they have their own perference. Even the best scripts and films have this happen.

I never thought I'd say this, but when I hear the name Obi-Wan Kenobi, I no longer think of Sir Alec Guiness. Ewan has truly become Kenobi, especially to the generation that grew up with the PT. And I don't think he hates the PT, maybe he's just disappointed with some of it's aspects. Watch the extras on the DVD's, he has more fun than anyone on set!

Edit: when I hear "Ben" Kenobi, Alec always comes to mind.

Please provide me a quote where EM says he regretted doing the PT or that these 3 films are the ones he is least proud of? The Islandover SW? Don't believe it. Earlier criticisms of the PT by Ewan and Liam were proved to be distorted quotes out of context. Sounds to me that after GL vindicated himself with SW3, a **** journalist yet again wants attention. Show me proof.

TPM was a waste. We've all agreed on that. But the last half of AOTC and all of ROTS are good movies. It's hard to argue against that. I can watch ROTS 10 times in a row and not be bored. TPM is pure boredom, though. No doubts there. When you have only 2/1/2 hours x 6 movies, you have to make every second count. Lucas did well with this in the OT, and got off to a horrendous start in the PT. Oh well. TPM is still better than 99% of the other movies out there. It's just not worthy of being 1 of 6 Star Wars movies.

TPM was superior to AOTC.
