Actually I stuffed the ballot for Jar-Jar.
It's not so much that I want to see a stat that shows Jar-Jar had his fans, but the reactions from people who can't stand him is priceless.

I knew it! There just had to be a logical explanation the absurdity of it all!!
I will forever view any and all new polls, with much more skepticism.
Did you vote for sir-droidness-maximus over Solo as well?

Even though he's extremely one-dimensional, I liked Grievous well enough. Still, it would've made more sense for Dooku to fill his role in the film since his character was already developing from AOTC. I imagine toy sales were foremost on George's mind at the time of GG's inception.

That's a good answer to the question hand..
The point of Grievous was action-figure sales.
Heheheh.. Short and sweet and at LEAST partially true!

Before we get the "stay on topic" warning... Apparently the poll is based on page views in the SW website databank. So instead of being the "greatest" things in SW it should be "things that made you curious enough to look them up".

Let's make sure we keep this focused on Grievous.

Christopher Lee is an old man who doesn't like to spend to much time working these days. He prefers to spend as much time as he can with his family. Hence Dooku's minor role in Ep. III and the need for a new Separatist leader. Enter Grevious.

There's something I hadn't considered - that Episode IIIs turn of events were based much on the actor's degree of wanting to be in it!
If Lee had wanted more screen time perhaps we wouldn't have had a general grievous at all... I think we could have done that and had a great movie... Focusing more on two esablished villains might have been better in fact.

I thought the point of Grievous was to introduce a new Villain. We lost Dooku and so he was needed. But Grievous was cool unto himself, his prowess despite (or because of ) his mechanical droidish parts, set up a foundation for the Vader reconstruction later - shows Sidious had some experience in this sort of thing. It was good that he mellowed out with Vader's reconstruction though...4 arms would have likely freaked Anakin out, lol.

GG became a symbol for the cybernetics of Vader only after an artist pointed out that his eyes were organic after GL approved of the piece of artwork. Many of the initial pieces were not cybernetic or droid like at all.
Otherwise, as others have stated, he was just a thorn taking the form of a leader of the opening battle to be sought after and captured/killed later.

I think the Droid General would get pounded by one of these:

Grievous is the leader of the droid army, no? Wouldn't Sidious side and make connections with the most powerful players in the war? It's all manipulation by Sidious, but instead of making him just a general of some random sect, it makes sense to pick someone that has a lot of control in the war. REmember, Dooku said there were 1000s siding with him, if GG has the most pull out of them, being in control of the droids, how is he not relevant? The metaphoric character is also pleasing.
