I don't know, Sidious and his apprentice managed to wipe out an entire Order, nearly obliterating it off the face of the galaxy for years, an Order that had stood and protected peace and justice for several millenia, so that has to count for something. Yes, he made some bad decisions, but destiny always was against him, and with Skywalker instead, so really I find it hard to make the argument that he's the worst thing to happen to the Sith Order. There will always be Jedi who become Sith. Not to mention, didn't a lot of Sith history and holocrons survive?

Plagueis was more powerful and stronger in the force than Sidious and was planning to create the ultimate apprentice through his manipulation of the midi-chlorians. If Sidious hadn't messed all that up the Sith really could've ruled for a 1000 years...plus Sidious made the disasterous decision of entrusting the future of the Sith with Vader.
Yeah, Sidious made the disasterous decision of entrusting the future of the Sith to the ultimate apprentice. Great circular reasoning there, buddy.

Kenobi is the worst thing to happen to the Sith. He kills one of them, trains a jedi to kill another one of them, and then trains another jedi who takes out the last two.

Sidious did everything right. The only thing he did wrong was not leaving Anakin on Mustafar to die because it came back to bite him later on. Sidious got elected, started a war, play acted, got many Jedi killed, and then wiped them out when the time came.
The prophecy of the Chosen One wasn't understood by either Sidious or the Jedi. If he had known what the prophecy meant, he would have waited for another apprentice or killed Anakin along with the other Jedi. The Sith had power for 20 years. When Luke came along, everything was in place for the Chosen One to fulfill the prophecy.

Darth Sidious was probably the best thing to ever happened to them; he fulfilled their master plan with cunning and deception that is unrivaled. I'd say Darth Vader was the worst thing to ever happen to them, since he effectively ended their entire order.

It's funny because I see the coin on each side.
In a way, he was a good thing to happen to them. He worked his *** off for years just putting like pieces into place. I mean, I'm reading Outbound Flight right now, and it's hard enough to be one person but TWO completely DIFFERENT people 24/7?! That takes true dedication.
But I also see where his selfishness wrecked what could've been the ultimate Sith triumph. Instead of following Sith procedure and battling his master to prove he was the stronger one, therefore better qualified to rule, he kills him in his sleep. Plageuis could've taught Anakin so much more, and most likely would've let Darth Vader overthrow him when it came time. The true Sith could've ruled the galaxy instead.
But Sidious was cunning, and thats a main feat a Sith must have.

Although Plagueis had a plan to overthrow the Jedi, it was no better executed than Tyranus looking to overthrow Sidious by recruiting Obi Wan, or Vader's plan to rule the galaxy with Luke as father and son.
Let's assume that Plagueis is a Sith Lord in hiding with a master plan for creating the most powerful force user in the galaxy, that Sidious is his apprentice, and that together they just made arrangements for impregnating Shmi. That Plagueis is careless enough to turn his back on Sidious is enough to convince me that there must have been some cracks in the foundation of his master plan.
If Sidious has the foresight to outmaneuver Plagueis then the Jedi would have found a way to deal with him.

You could say that Sidious was the best and worst of the Sith. The best because of how he realized the ambition of the Sith before him, infiltrated the Senate right under the nose of the Jedi, orchestrated a galactic war, then betrayed the Jedi and crowned himself Emperor in one fell swoop.
Yet at the same time, had he layed low like his Sith ancestors, the Sith line would have continued. No revenge against the Jedi, no galactic victory and ultimate power, but survival. The Sith, after a thousand years of hiding and plotting, only got about twenty years in the spotlight before falling again. So, Sidious blew it.

I agree that Sidious was the Sith's greatest hero. But he did have one downfall: betting everything on Anakin's turn to the Dark Side, to the point of saving him on Mustafar.

Sith's Greatest hero? Hardly. I dont even consider him a sith lord. He was weak for a supossed sith lord, He did not continue the order by rebuilding the Sith Academy. He was a old egomanic.

Why would he rebuild the Sith Academy?
He had won.
Bane was so disgusted by the Academy he was in that he left it.

Why rebuild a Sith Academy where hundreds of Sith potentials could threaten his power? So, why did Darth Bane destroy the Sith Order to begin with? To rebuild it again in a thousand years? Darth Sidious was the Sith Lord that brought Darth Bane's vision to fruition, he forced the Jedi Order into hiding, toppled the Galactic Republic, and brought the Sith to prominence. I think he fulfilled Bane's dream quite nicely. He contiuned the Order by keeping Vader alive and trying to eventually replace him with Luke.
