Jar Jar was the scum of the galaxy!

Things would have been a lot better for the people of the Republic if not for him.

I think George Lucas heard the adage that "What people need most is a really good enemy." Compared to Jar-jar, everyone else was AWESOME.

The focus of the article seems to be the anticipation and speculation that surrounded the release of AOTC, so let's keep this discussion focused on recollections of that. wink

I anticipated AOTC for quite some time. To whit, four months before AOTC came out, I became a missionary. By the rules, I was not allowed to see movies, TV, listen to the radio, read any materials other than letters from home and religious material, etc. So, my exposure to AOTC consisted of a letter from my mom and a letter from my co-author. The former included the soundtrack and was written while sitting in line for the midnight showing, where "a person is dressed up as the long-haired one Jedi, Obi-Wan." The latter was my friend talking about life in Chicago and inserting random spoilers from AOTC. By the end of the letter, I had heard pretty much everything. Fourteen and a half months later, I came back from being a missionary and after I had run to Blockbuster, I sat down and watched the movie.
