SLJ as Jango Fett?

Before TPM, Sam Jackson said in an interview that when he talked to George Lucas about being in the movie, Sam said he would even be a stormtrooper.
Well, I think it would have been interesting to see Samuel L. Jackson as Jango Fett. Jackson would have played a stormtrooper. In fact, he would have been every stormtrooper.
Or clone as it were.

It never would have worked. SLJ cannot be duplicated. Any Clones made out of him would have been defective.

That would be cool to see, but I think Mace Windu was perfect for him. The character almost seems like he was completely based on SLJ, well besides the lack of humour.
But Jango Fett? I couldn't see SLJ behind that armor... it would be too awkward. I think the guy they got for Jango + the Clones worked out amazingly. Exactly what I could picture Boba looking like in the OT.

Sam Jackson would probably be better suited as a charismatic space pirate, or a veteran Ric Olie-type character, I think.

I remember the rumors that Jet Li was gonna be Jango. I'm glad that SLJ isn't a stormie or a Fett.

Well, allow me to retort.
Two scenes in particular:
Obi-Wan/Jango talking scene in AOTC.
Bail Organa/Clone Trooper scene after the march on the temple in ROTS.
Those are the only scenes that come to mind that would have been a treat to watch had SLJ
been Jango.
That said, the role of Fett/Clones was well cast.
I remembered that Jackson interview and just went what if...

Tamuera Morrison is a pretty awesome Mandalorian himself, though. He is actually one Prequel Trilogy actor I would never ever consider replacing.

Although it's an interesting concept I think that the role of Jango should be played by an unknown actor. Whether it's SLJ, Matt Damon, or Ricky Martin I don't want their image to pop into my mind every time I see a Storm Trooper. I can't think of any other actor who could better play the role of the Jedi who pushed Anakin over the edge.

I think SLJ as Mace was a very good casting move by GL because Mace is SLJ. Calm, cool and a bad **** But as Jango/clones he would have to be low key, secretive, and submissive everything SLJ/Mace is not.
