He was one of the most famous people in the galaxy, surely the HoloNet was interested in his sex life. Most of the politicians had wives, husbands, escorts and lovers over the years. Surely they'd begin to speculate on why the Supreme Chancellor had no lovers. I know in the EU, Valorum was said to have a relationship with his aide, Sei Taria. With Sly Moore getting the center seat at the opera during ROTS, perhaps rumors were flying?

I say "fruit fly" in the title because I'm sure Palpatine had no sexual interest in Sly Moore despite her handsomely bald features. I would say the Sith were just following the Jedi policy on love, though it doesn't feel right considering the Sith were taught to give into their passions. Plus Vader sure liked the ladies until he lost that "part" of the force. As for the others, we all knew how horny Darth Maul was and unfortunately Tyranus had been a Jedi for so long before he turned sith that his lightsaber handle was too bent.

Why was their no Empress Palpatine? (Not the he/she from our forums past). I can see where he possibly married someone while he was young and quickly bumped her off so that he could say "I'm in mourning" for the rest of his life. But it wouldn't explain the lack of action in fulfilling his sexual desires. The only thing that is certain is that the only person he ever seduced was Anakin Skywalker.

P.S. This is just a wild speculation thread about whether Palpatine was gay, straight, or bisexual. It serves no greater purpose than random chatter in a forum. Who cares if he was or wasn't, I just thought I'd speculate on it though.

P.S.2.0. Yes, this is what former 3SA mods think about in their retirement.

EDIT: I was told to edit out the damaging "prequel trilogy mods" comment I made just above and change it to 3SA mods by Strilo.

I don't know if she was Palp's "go to" lady, but she was one of the few that knew that he was a Sith.

I think that he had several lovers and went through them all pretty quickly.

Mistresses - that is what I would call them.

PALPATINE seduced whoever and whatever HE wanted whenever HE wanted to. It didn't matter if they were Jedi, Political Idealists, Human or non Human. HE Seduced the entire Galaxy. HIS Greatest strength (at least at first) was he made the citizens of the Galaxy Love HIM.

HE had no cares for them whatsoever, No desire other than to use them. HE did want them to love him, to level adulation upon him... but this was akin to rape... the act wasn't neccesarilly sexual in nature, just an expression of his domminance.

HE made you believe whatever it is you wanted to believe. If you believed you could be HIS "Secret Mistress" or HIS "Hand" or even "Savior and Hero of the Galaxy", Then PALPATINE would make you believe that.

And you would believe that you were the only person HE could really trust, and you would do anything to win HIS aproval.

And when HE was done with you, HE would dispose of you without a thought.

Sly Moore might have believed she was close to PALPATINE, but I doubt the rest of the galaxy would have thought they were romanticlly (even clandestinely) involved. The Galaxy percieved of HIM as a hard working and humble aesthetic. Monklike, HE gave up the trappings of wealth that corrupted so many of the senate of old. HE ceased wearing the goudy and expensive fashions of the Core in favor of a humble cloth robe. No Jewelry (Except a small clasp), and surely HE refused a Salary for HIS Office saying that service alone was compensation enogh for HIM. As HE grew infeebled, he opted for a simple cane rather than expensive surgeries or a mechano-chair.

Women, or men, or animals, or whatever, would cheapen HIS image of being above the corrupting vices. Saying PALPATINE had an affair would be like saying Jesus married Mary Magdalene. Most would think it blasphemous and untrue because PALPATINE was beyond mortal desires and falibility.

The real scandal is the illicit adulterous interspecies affair between Passel Argente and Po Nudo

Palps was one of the richest beings in the galaxy by the time of the OT, so I doubt he refused a salary.

I tend to think Palpatine was above phyiscal lusts and pleasures. It just doesn't seem to fit well with his character to see him sexually involved with anyone. I wouldn't say everyone's favorite Emperor was a virgin though...

"The Dark Side of the Force is the pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unnatural."

Given the "great interest" with which Palpatine watched young Skywalker's "career", I think I know where his interests lay, insofar as he had any.

What really floated his Sith-boat, however, was "Power! Unlimited power!" One need only look at his obvious afterglow following his lethal defenestration of Mace Windu to know how much he enjoyed that.

Sly Moore was perhaps convenient arm-candy when the protocol demanded he have such, but she was obviously a henchwoman, not an intimate friend.

Everyone knows Palpataine was saving himself for dear sweet Ani.

All those years, he knew it would be worth it.

Well in EU,

Palpatine did have mistresses.

But isn't Ian McDiarmid gay in real life???

Does anyone know if that's true or not??

I know he's not married but is he gay in real life?

She didn't last very long as Palpatine's aide, when he became Emperor.

Yeah, I also think he was a pedophile. Sly Moore was a cover.

According to wookiepedia, Sly Moore was taught the ways of the darkside by Palpataine. Anyone know if this is in some EU, or did this person just make it up?

Besides Palp's obsession with Anakin, I think he and Mas Amedda had something going to.

I guess we all just imagined Count Dooku, Jedi Master of the High Council for 30+ years, or Ventress, or the Confederation leaders of 14 planets, or "what if I told you more than HALF of the Senate is under the sway of a Sith Lord named Darth Sidious?

AHem?
