They what? It totally counts as a new track, a new theme. And wow. The score for TPM is amazing. It's very rich, dense with themes old and new and very Star Wars feeling.

I agree. It think it's the best soundtrack from the Prequel Trilogy. Certainly way better than the ROTS soundtrack.

I can't explain it... but the crackles and isps that precede each track lend a je ne sais quoi to the listening experience that no other medium can provide.

I think TPM is one of the stronger soundtracks of the saga, I'd rank it #2 in the prequels (behind ROTS).

It's the one SW film I hardly ever watch , haven't watched it in years actually , it never really felt like a SW film to me .

JJB and jake lloyd drag it down and Portman is so dull .

Everyone who thinks Jake Lloyd did a poor job as Anakin should check out TPM bonus DVD and watch the documentaries about picking an actor for the role. They contain audition tapes for Jake Lloyd and a few other kids that were shortlisted for playing Anakin. The only decent audition out of what we see is JL's. And when you watch the behind the scenes footage of him signing his contract and playing on the Tatooine set you can't help but realise what a naturalistic performance he gave. I think people should cut the kid some slack given that their issues are with the lines that came out of his mouth, not the way they were delivered.

One thing I noticed when watching TPM the other day was the warmth given by the use of film. AOTC and ROTS were shot in digital and while I adore the films the camera work comes off mainly as cold and heartless. TPM has small ammounts of film grain that gives the picture a warmer, dream like feel which is much more in line with the OT.

yeah I've watched the extras , doesn't change anything , he still gave a rotten performance, not just the lines , his delivery is awful as well .

But here is the thing you forget, Jake was only a child at the time and great child actors are rare. They don't have the emotional intensity at such an age to deliver a truly great performance.

Besides Jake played Anakin as himself. You can't get more naturalistic than that. Take a look at the scene where Anakin refuses to leave Shmi, you can genuinely see a distraught little boy who is forced by an unfair galaxy to leave his mother. And in the scene where Anakin and Qui-Gon are on the balcony looking at the stars there is a little boy who is really filled with wonder.

Compare this to Daniel Logan's flat delivery and refusal to shout his two lines that required any form of intensity and you realise what a good CHILD ACTOR Jake Lloyd is.

I think you are overstating the above, especially Newt in aliens. There is nothing especially great about the above performances, and nothing that elevates them above Jake Lloyd either. It's the dialogue that makes the roles so memorable, not the performances.

I like Lloyd in the role and I've never understood the problem some fans have with his performance. To me he seems spontaneous, thoughtful, casual, and a little goofy. I dislike some of his line readings in the fighter cockpit, but if I'm not mistaken I believe those were among the first scenes he shot, before he caught his stride.

Lloyd is really at his best interfacing with adults, especially Liam Neeson and most especially at the dinner scene.

Then I'm sure you can point out the scenes in TPM that actually ARE shot on digital...? wink

It must be the quality of the master copy then because I had no clue there was digital cameras used in TPM. blush Does anyone else notice the film grain in TPM that wasn't there in AOTC or ROTS?
