At the time of the Clone Wars he is referred to as one of the most powerful Jedi. He may have the highest midichlorian count, but his actualized power is not necessarily the greatest out of all the Jedi.

But he was still young. Very young. Look at any Sith Lord. Look at Yoda. Add their power together. Add a bit more power. That is Anakin's potential.

He would have become the most powerful Force-User ever.


More powerful than Sidious and Yoda.


That is why Sidious had to do what he had to do because he knows if Anakin reach his full potential, he'll be the only one that could defeat him.

As a Jedi, Anakin would have fulfilled the prophecy early on, but as a Sith, Palpatine could control him as an apprentice.


That is the same reason he feared Luke. Because they have the midichlorian potential to defeat him

He was only 23 and one of the most powerful - doesn't that tell us something?

Anakin was a wreck when he was fighting Obi Wan, so if a force-user cant master himself, it seems he cant fuel his full force potential, it will just be unfocused. But Anakin never learned to quiet his mind before it was to late.


I think this is a good point. Anakin certainly had the potential to be exceptionally powerful, but I doubt whether he could ever have fulfilled that potential. We never got the impression that he had the strength of being to muster the sort of power he was capable of.

So yes, Anakin would have become REALLY powerful if he wasn't in a life-support suit. SO maybe it's good that he ended up like that. Imagine the evil power he would have posessed?

Actually, throughout the whole PT Anakin keeps saying how he wished politicians would just make decisions etc. When Palps offered him the galaxy and his Sith teachings, Anakin felt he was gonna rule the galaxy to do good. But perhaps under the Emperor it wasn't exactly what he imagined?? He was forced to take a different path? OR, he felt he was doing the right thing by dealing life and death how he felt it should be. Again that makes the same point about having power but not being able to control it. Perhaps we will never know alien_2 I'd love to Psychoanalyse Darth Vader tongue

We can just look at how the other Jedi speak about him. They say he is dangerous, and they fear the consequences if he`s trained as a Jedi. If he was just an average Jedi it wouldnt have been an issue, then they could at least control him. But they know, as Palpatine said, that in time Anakin will be to strong to control.

Sidious has him down as being potentially more powerful than himself (ROTS novel). Lucas has backed that up, though I can't remember what the official power rating was.

I think the best question is on the subject of his relationship with Sidious, and the contradictory nature of the Sith/Apprentice relationship. I've been over that in the Saga section, and it remains a puzzle. In the movie he seems like any other Banite Sith: "Darth Vader will become more powerful than either of us".

But from what I know of EU palpatine, I don't see him thinking of death with any pleasure.

Yes! I have always thought this!

It's similar to the Gollum story. Pity saves Gollum from being killed by two people; Gandalf feels he has a part to play in the whole thing. In the end it was fate that Gollum would essentially destroy the ring.

Just like it was fate for ANakin to destroy Palps. I think no one else couldh ave as Vader was so close to him. And in turn, he came back to the light-side grin
