It would be interesting to see Jar Jar die in Episode III, but whatever the case, either Binks or Padme' must die. It would be absolutely horrible if he went off and implied that everyone died peacefully at a later time after Episode III.

Although probably all of you will throw up your hands and say I'm being a typical basher, I think that as we've gained an emotional attachment to both Padme and Jar Jar, I think it'll be cheating the audience if we don't see them killed off, or at least, find out their fate at the end of Episode III. So really, I think it might be nice and noble if Jar Jar died protecting the twins, or something that will ensure Palpatine's defeat, or something. That would be a nice touch.

Nah, that's not being a basher.
I'd have absolutely no problem with Jar Jar getting in a last heroic act before snuffing it.
I still don't know about Padme...I really don't...

I wouldn´t have any problem with that, either. In fact, that´s what I´ve been thinking will happen. I don´t think so anymore, though....

Well, narratively speaking, Jar Jar is following the classic Star Wars character-development, as he's made a massive mistakes, and will probably want to redeem himself (just like Obi-Wan, Yoda, Han, and Anakin)so I have a feeling that'll play a factor in Episode III. At least, I hope it will!

Do you attack my opinion Oakessteve for liking the Prequels? You don't and you've contributed so much to this forum that the thought of you leaving without saying goodbye would be unbearable. Glad to see you've feel some emotion to this poor defenceless Gungan.
Now if only people would sit down and think about the character rather than hating him because he is different.

This is the beauty of SW and the prequels. No one, no one knows what GL is going to do with Jar Jar nor Padme. He's probably outsmarted all of us. He'll resolve it in ways we didn't think possible. The way people think that GL may have gone deeper and deeper into the storyline, where he can't win and may not resolve things, you're underestimating his storytelling genius.

Lucas pays off the most elaborate setup in film history. He succeeds so completely that anybody who doesn't just love movies but the movies will find reason for celebration—with or without Ewoks. "ROTS" rewards all of the exposition of I and II

I want Jar Jar to survive. It'd be nice if he could go back to Gunga City, marry and have seven tadpoles. :-)
And it'd be good to not give Jar Jar-haters a chance to cheer.

Alright, I had to defend Jar Jar in the saga forum, so here is basically what was said...I figure since this is the Jar Jar discussion thread I'll add my thoughts.
ya, i agree, jar jar was pretty unnesecery. his character had no motive or meaning.
Jar Jar did have an importance, and there was symbolism there, but many people are obviously either too blind to see it, or don't want to. Jar Jar was just a simple Gungan, they don't have the electronic technology that is widely used throughout the galaxy, yet if it werne't for him, the Trade Federation would have never been defeated. Jar Jar was able to secure the escape of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, get them to Naboo, and then help Queen Amidala form an alliance with the Gugans that secured the defeat of the Trade Federation, and saved millions of lives on the planet Naboo, and prevented similar situations from taking place on other planets.
One of the themes I like in Star Wars is that modern technology doesn't make you better. For example, the Gungans helped bring down the Trade Federation, using simply organic material. The Ewoks almost single handedly defeated all the Imperial troops on the planet. Its about skill, not accessories. The Rebellion itself had way outdated technology, and what they did have was rather beat up--while the Empire had Death Stars, Star Destroyers, and everything was very clean and sterile, yet they were brought down the Rebellion.
Jar Jar also had plenty of motive, he got banished from Otoh Gunga for his clumbsiness, and was ready to try and prove himself worthy of making it in Gungan society. On Naboo, his way of life was being invaded by the Trade Federation, and whether he was an actual part of the Gungan society or not, he still followed their customs and way of life. And since he was hanging out in the forest, and the Trade Federation was invading his home, he wanted to do something about it. He doesn't want to just let the Trade Federation take over.
He meets Jedi, and wants to prove himself worthy by offering his help (also its part of tradition) and wants to help them succeed--thus another motive. Jar Jar obviously doesn't like confrontations, thus trying to form an alliance between the Gungans and the people of Naboo. Another motive: peace. People are too quick to bash Jar Jar, when really he is an important character.
however, i think its ironic that the gungans are so primitive, yet they are portrayed using computer technology.
And your point? The way the film was made is out of universe, and therefore it doesn't matter if they were real or CGI, they were still Gungans inside the story of the Star Wars universe. Sure, they had a few electronics in universe too, but as a whole, they were not very technological, partly because they didn't need to be. They had all the resources they needed right there, and the organic structures they made seemed to work pretty well.
and about jar jar, i just think there should be more character development on the emotional level. we should feel sorry for jar jar, and want him to win, not be annoyed by his poop jokes.
Yes, since there was a "poop joke" in every scene he was in, right? Oh wait, no there wasn't. Episode I had a duration of 8,160 seconds. The "poop jokes" took about 10 of them. You can't say that those brief ten seconds brought down the entire film, because they didn't. I hated the scenes just as much as the next person, but it didn't ruin the movie for me, and it didn't ruin hte whole saga either. Move on already, and enjoy the part of the film that wasn't those ten seconds of bathroom humor.
