Well I didn't hate anything about Jar Jar. Poop joke included. Many seem to the poop joke was done in bad taste. Just imagine, Padme stepping on it! Or Qui Gon, or Obi Wan or even Panaka...you get the picture.

Actually Im in a good mood, don't let this fool you silly

Lucas pays off the most elaborate setup in film history. He succeeds so completely that anybody who doesn't just love movies but the movies will find reason for celebration—with or without Ewoks.

hehe, Panaka stepping on the poop. That got a chuckle out of me. grin

And yes, Jar Jar does in fact, rule. I'd like to see him be one of the first members of the Rebel Alliance or something.

He's the best! The fart joke isn't the biggest laugh in the world, put the poop joke is quite funny. It's a very Star Warsy poop joke. Like when Chewbacca growled at the mouse droid.

Just noticed a slight parrallel (of sorts) between Jar Jar and Yoda. May have been mentioned but reading through five pages? It's 4am, I'm tired.

Kenobi thinks oddly speaking creature Jar Jar is a waste of time, something that should be passed on by as soon as possible. In the end, he is wrong. Jar Jar was needed.

Luke thinks oddly speaking creature Yoda is a waste of time, something that should be passed on by as soon as possible. In the end, he is wrong. Yoda was needed.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this...in TPM Jar Jar gets kicked in the groin by a droid on Tatooine. My point is that he doen't even make a sound. This is why Jar Jar is so lame becuase he has no ballz.

Thats making the assumption that his anatomy is similar to that of a human, but when is the last time you've seen a SW creature that was anatomically correct?

Exactly. He's an amphibian, a frog of sorts. Do they have balls?

I think that George Lucas could have kept everything the same with Jar Jar, but just change his voice, and the character would have worked.

I think he would have worked better if he had a voice like Captain Tarpals, but perhaps a little bit deeper, like Boss Nass. Perhaps reduce the 'jamaican' style of vocabulary, and you would have had a fan favorite.

Lucas originally wanted C-3PO to sound like a used car salesman, he should have taken this approach with Jar Jar, and mix in a bit of rogue and charm, he could have been the alien Han Solo of the prequel trilogy.

What do you think?

The creation of Jar Jar was flawed from the start.

Lucas did not come up with a story/character and then think about how best to do it. Instead he wanted to have a fully digital character in a main role.
This was the end of the old Lucas (the visionary, the storyteller, the mythmaker) and the beginning of the new Lucas (CGI above all else)

Star Wars stopped being about the story and became a testing ground and showcase for computer animation.

This is evident in the fact that Jar Jar has twice as much screentime as Obi Wan Kenobi. One film done and still no relationship between Anakin and Obi Wan or Anakin and Palpatine and no hint of Dark Side in Anakin.
This has a ripple effect in the prequels, Lucas is now rushing the story. IMO, much of this can be traced back to the creation of Jar Jar. Not only is the character very irritating but I think many fans are irked that instead of seeing the backstory to the OT we got Lucas showing off his latest computer graphic.

Meesa never felt Bink's personality was the problem, but rather the use of his character as comic relief in dramatic and climatic situations. Additionally, some of Bink's comic routines are as funny as clown shoes or a pie in the face.
