Ugh, I just read this properly, MS. Seems we were talking across purposes for that whole discussion the other night. I thought we were arranging for the LAN to be THIS Sunday, Sunday the 4th. It works well because Monday is a public holiday, something that had completely slipped my mind at the time. And don't forget, the 11th is Mothers' Day, and YOUR mum might not appreciate us all trooping around...
Goob wouldn't be able to come on the 4th, obviously, but I'd thought we'd already figured that out and he didn't mind... *Head-desk* This whole thing is approching the Ridculous Performance level.

On a more upbeat note: IT'S HERE. You know of what I speak.
And as a little bonus to any of you lot who don't have TF2 yet but might be interested, this weekend will be one of Valve's Free Weekends. Try the game out totally free of charge (excepting, of course, the bandwidth to download the gig or two it takes up...).
I'll be able to get in an hour or two of Goldrushin' time tonight, and then won't get any more till at least Saturday, but I think I know how a good chunk of the long weekend is going to be spent. LAN party or not, I hope to spend a good ol' chunk of Sunday and Monday on this. I'll see you lot on the battlefield.

BAH! While attempting to update TF2, steam restarted and is now showing the game as "not installed". Off to work now but I hope I don't have to re-download all of TF2 again...what of my stats?

You shouldn't have to download it again, Goob, and your stats are stored on the server, not your local machine. If worst comes to worst and you really DO have to re-download, let me know by Friday and I'll burn my TF2 data files onto a disc and sling them your way.

Looks like the files are all there...no luck though. Mind burning it, BBN?
I did use GCFScape to extract sounds, but that shouldn't be the reason...

Sure, no problem. First, though, remove the GCFs from the directory, then start downloading TF2, then close Steam and put the files back. With any luck, when you restart the system will recognise the data again. I haven't heard of this exact problem before, but in principle, that should work.
MS, do you have a response to my post about the LAN dates? I'm trying to work out just what the hell I actually have on this weekend.

I bit the bullet and started a scratch re-download of TF2 last night. Was @ 50% at the start, so no biggie. Especially since Node upped my quota on me to 25gig.

Okay, I just read it. Sorry about the confusion, I thought we were talking about the 11th that night. I can't have the LAN this coming sunday, because I have to work. I would be alright with having the LAN this monday (the public holiday).
The new update is starting to annoy me. there will be teams with 7-8 battle medics none of who even try to heal me. There is alot of cheating to get the achievements and unlocks (there is a console command to unlock everything, which Valve patched out apparently) and this is going to get even worse with the free weekend.

Yeah, I was anticipating the Night Of A Thousand Medics. Sigh. Maybe I'll wait till things calm down and the nutso people get it all out of their systems.

I concur. How about we discuss it next time we're all or most of us are there in person? Tonight and the weekend away seem like viable options to target dates with less toing and froing.
