The Jedi seem to know some things about the sith in hiding that they wouldnt know from before the period, for example, the rule of two, they say it as if its obvious, but it wasnt used until after Ruusan. Sidious could have said it to anakin making him think it was a legend of before (there are many sith stories and such, even though they are all supposedly dead)

We also gotta consider that Plagueis may have been a legend known only to the Sith, in which case, he can be any age, because then the Jedi don't necessarily have to know of his existance.

If that was the case then Palpatine would have blown his cover during the opera when he told him the story.

"And as far as your link goes, why dont you try this one...

http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/darthsidious/index.html

The man known as "Palpatine" is a facade....his history is not even worth mentioning because That's not REALLY who he is

So if you believe Palpatine's "history" then I guess you believe Superman/Clark Kent is really from Kansas then?? "

Darth Sidious' databank entry hasnt been changed in years, Palpatines has been, I suppose the next databank "upload" is Mustafat with info on both of these. Their entries will probably be fused, I suppose they didn't earlier because they thought they would "surprise" the people.

I think Palpatine being from Naboo and looking like that always (not true self crap) is a genius idea, its in fact better than him being an ugly old being from who the hell knows where. That evil can come from the most beautiful and innocent places.

Nope.

We already get that with the Vader story.

Palpatine being in his 60's and being from Naboo is a "weak" story IMO.

The best story for this character is for him to be a very old human, who has a huge amount of darkside knowledge.

It adds to his "mystique".

But simply saying he's from Naboo and grew up there just doesnt work IMO. shame_on_you

Palpatine knew that Anakin would never dare ask the Jedi to confirm Darth Plaugeis' existence, because he's not a Jedi Master and thus is not privy to such knowledge. As well as the fact that they would dodge the issue and not tell him. So Palpatine could spin it as a tragedy and make it look like Plaugeis was just a fabled legend. In the novelization, Anakin lamments that his is unable to confirm Palpatine's story in the Jedi Archives. Had Anakin been granted the rank of Master, he could've confirmed it and then see that Palpatine's story was a hoax.

But if it's ANYTHING in the archives about Plagueis,(even if it doesnt confirm his "cheating death" power ) wouldnt that make him a character that lived at least a thousand years before TPM??

I don't think they did, but they must have had some knowledge of the Sith in Hiding, though probably dismissed it for worst case scenarios and declared them all dead. How else would they know the Rule of two?At least in the strictest form. The most the jedi might have heard of the new sith would be rumors, rumors they would likely ignore

It's not implied that the jedi know about Plagueis. When Palpatine says it's a sith legend, he's probably just making plagueis sound good. Even if it was a sith legend, that would mean only the sith know about it. It's not a legend and the jedi don't know about it. So Darth Plagueis existed in that time when the jedi thought the sith were extict and he probably lived to be a mortal age just like Sidious. When I say mortal I mean mabye like the age of a human in real life.

It would have made more sense if Darth Plagueis had been Syfo Dyas, since
both of them are only mentioned and never introduced. Palpatine learns
of Dyas' plot to build clone army and overthrow republic and start over, he becomes
apprentice and kills him. It's basically Dooku's story but would have made
Plagueis and Dyas have more connectivity to the audience.

And Palpatine IS from Naboo, where does it say

Nice try, it says his roots are in Naboo. Elsewhere it says any documentation of him has mysteriously vanished. But as was also said, it doesn't matter. It's not really him... just a facade

I still think his name (birth) is Palpatine, Plagueis found him in Naboo and trained him around places. And no, we have not seen the Great Evil coming from a beautiful innocent place, Vader wasn't any of that, he came from Tatooine, a horrible world full of scum, anakin himself may have looked innocent, but he was corrupted by that around him, that sidious became evil itself, even though he was born in one of the most highly regarded planets, makes it better. Why couldn't he be born in Naboo? For all we know, he is related to Padme (all records of direct ancestry and past deleted), but I dunno, I just appreciate him more if he is from Naboo.

Yes he was. According to WIKIPEDIA.ORG under star wars dates it says that Palpatine (Sidious) was born on NABOO around 84 BBY (before battle of Yavin) and is immediately taken for training by Plageius.
