Yeah, G-Fett. He's crying because he knows that what he's doing is wrong. But, he can't turn back and he knows it. Lucas' basic words...which really isn't need if you just watch the scene. You get it anyway....

Yeah, GiG. I'm glad he cleared that up too...eventhough at the end of Episode II, it's pretty clear who starts all the mess.

There's always more coming G Man. When I was reading the Making of Sith book, there's a part where Lucas mentions fixing something in Empire (it's never revealed what) in some subsequent release of the film.

Kenobi least likely to use gun. Jedi sustain from such weapons.

Discussion about Kenobi vs. Grievous - (nothing interesting).

Mostly a play on a Jedi with a gun which you don’t usually see - GL

RM - great moment - Anakin telling Mace about Sidious. Mainly discussing set.

This was another scene that was added after the scene with Palpatine changes. Had to shoot a scene of Anakin telling Mace. Strengthens the scene where Mace comes in. when Mace enters he knows Sidious is a Sith and he’s going to arrest him. Knows he’s the bad guy

Ruminations scene

The real issue is saving Padme but its conflicted. He’s emotionally going back and forth. Its easy for the audience to think Anakin is miffed about not being made a master - buts its more about saving Padme. Doesn’t want to lose her. Its about his fear that Palpatine will be killed and he wont be able to save Padme.

He knows that he will now do anything - RM.

This scene had to be about them - Anakin and Padme. Why Anakin was turning.

MACE/SIDIOUS SCENE

Talk about digital shots. Nick Gillard choreographed all of it.

Great deal of work put in on sword fights, ‘cos there is so many of them, we had to make each one individual, each one have its own personality, that reflected the two opponents, and their skills, and how they would adjust. The swordfight between Sidious and Mace is different from the emperor and Yoda. Even though I wanted to have sort of similarities but make them different enough where they don’t get incredibly repetitious”.

What does Lucas say about Anakin chocking Padme? I assume its stuff about him turning to save her, but ending up being the one who brings about her downfall?

Choking Padme was basically saying that Anakin thinks she betrayed him when he sees Obi-Wan. And that Sith are very quick to anger. That's basically it....

I see. I would have thought he would have had more to say there. That scene is really where the tragic irony of the film (and the Prequels) comes in.

Little side note: Obi-Wan picking up Anakin's lightsaber was a pickup scene. They forgot about doing that during principal photography....how could you forget about that?!

The film is so good, it distracts from the commentary really. You really don't need it. But, there are certain scenes I wanted to hear Lucas speak and I got what I wanted to hear(The Rumination Scene, The Turning Scene, Anakin's Dream, Vader on the Balcony on Mustafar, The Showdown between Anakin and Padme.)

I agree. This film is perfect.

But Lucas could have explored a few things in more details.

That said, I like his almost "david lynch" approach. Lynch will never give you the keys to his movies. Just clues.
The film being the masterpiece that it is, I'm not sure we need to stick to ONE official truth.

We get the idea when we watch it, and the story is bloody well told.

Couldn't agree more with the Lynch comparison, 1977-1983...

Coleman talking about CG skin over fight! Loser! Nothing said over disarming.

“This shot where (pause) Anakin walks through that little anti chamber one of my favourite shots cos’ the whole thing is a matte painting. Ok, well this sequence always started out with Mace uh overpowering Palpatine and then Palpatine using his powers to try to destroy Mace and Mace deflecting his rays with his lightsaber. It always was that Anakin cut the lightsaber out of his hand. But this part where he pretends to lose his power and be weak was something that I added later cos’ this is it moved the point where Anakin turns down to this moment right here and you can see that he’s now that its very clear that he’s, he wants him to go on trial so he can pump him for information about how to get these powers”

Well, the things like confirming Anakins parentege, I don't think Lucas will ever confirm that. I think he will take it to the grave. I like it that he's leaving some stuff a little amiguous and a few questions remaining. Its as it should be, IMO. happy
