I personally never understood why people think Plasmas are better than LCD's. Whenever I compare the two side by side (like in a shop) I find LCD's picture much clearer and better. Twice in my life I went out to buy a Plasma TV and on both occasions I came back with an LCD instead because it simply looked better. Plasmas are very poor at displaying blacks, they look grey instead. And the fact that an LCD has twice the lifespan of a Plasma is another reason (the gas in Plasma continuously depletes over time, therefore making the picture worse and worse as you keep watching).
But maybe that's just me.

latest LCDs coming slowly to quality of PLASMA !!
FIRST THING amlmost SOLVED by LCDs - REFRESH RATE !!
- on most of LCD under let say 2.500usd, I can clearly spot any time with fater movement of CAMERA, that LCD is not capable to REDRAW picture ! because of slow refresh rate..
- it's coming beter and beter, I saw few new models with refreshrate 8ms, wich is almost good..
- LCD is SUPER PERFECT for pictures !! I agree...
Plasma hmm, I dont know wich PLASMA did you saw, but I am comparing only TOP models !! with most highest contrast and brightnes... and of course HD READY !!! older models, yes I saw problems with BLACK !! just yesterday I was testing this baby.... BLACK on that one is one SUPER BLACK !! just perfect....

in all test it BEATS any LCD on market by BIG MARGIN !! I hope I will dig that test, so you can read it by yourself...
other thing is such PLASMA is of course more expansive !
but I had HD LCD with this PLASMA played TOGETHER, the picture on PLASMA was clearly MORE CINEMATIC, picture on LCD was to HARD, almost like watching COMPTUTER screem, of course on such almost perfect screen you will NOTICE all FLAWS and ERRORs of DVD's MPEG, even if it HD signal from satelite.......
well longetivity..., yes LCD will last longer, but I am not going watch PLASMA 20hours per day, so it will crash after 2 years..., my friend has one 2.5 year, same nice picture....
of course best is for LCD and PLASMA, to use TOP DVD PLAYER, with HDMI output and UPSCALER, witch is wonderfull thing, upscaling regular DVD to HDTV resolution, of course it's not HDTV, but I was suprised it was much much better compare to RGB or ANALOG output......

ONE LAST THING !! NEVER EVER COMPARE LCD and PLASMA in SHOP !!
they NEVER had correct SIGNAL in PLASCMA,
here I saw this several times, on LCD there was some DVD/CD demo with pictures and prerecorded content as promotion,. and on PLASMAS just pure ANALOG TV signal, wich looked TERRIBLE !!
test it on HD DIGITAL SATELITE cable or DVD with HDMI output

well on the last page somebody asked about problmes of ROTS dvd on his HD LCD....
and now tukafo has some experience to share ........
so I was happy to share my experience......
so far I am posted TONS of info about DVDsales in this THREAD,

My father bought an LCD recently and I must say that I'm not really impressed by the picture quality. So I'll stick to an old fashioned TV until technology improves...
btw any news on ROTS sales numbers?
