Okay, something has been bugging me ever since I saw RotS and, darn it, I want an answer.

When Obi-Wan and Anakin are fighting Dooku, Obi gets tossed against a walkway and then Dooku uses the Force to make the walkway fall.

What I see is the walkway drops right onto Obi, right about where his legs meet his butt, and then he is shoved a foot or two by the walkway. And it looks like it is made out of some very heavy metal, I have to say. I would expect that anybody getting hit like that would suffer a couple of broken femurs at the very least, maybe a fractured pelvis.

But Obi-Wan runs down hallways, fights with droids and Grevious--not to mention making a daring escape from a falling elevator--mere minutes later. And we certainly don't see him use the Force to heal himself during this at any point, which is something that I've only ever seen in video games anyway, so I don't know how much to trust the existence of that ability.

Can anyone explain this one to me? Cuz it's bugged me for a while now...

The first time I saw it, I thought the same thing - that's gotta hurt!

I just decided it wasn't as bad as it looked.

it was a cardboard walkway, dooku's separatists were running out of raw materials as the war was ending so that's my story. It's in the OS I swear batting

He didn’t heal himself or anything like that. He just got away with no injuries (with the exception of a big headache). Surely there are other things in Star Wars that are a little more far-fetched than that, right?

Great topic! I too have been wondering about this since I saw the movie, and in fact every time I watch it, it only bothers me more. Yeah, I would think to have a giant metal plankway fall on you would do some serious damage. You would think Obi Wan would have been crushed, not just knocked unconscious. It does seem pretty farfetched that he would be okay in no time flat, and taking on Grievous and his guards. I guess this is another one of those moments we are supposed to overlook. I love watching the movies, and I can get past the glaring inconsistencies and plotholes, and just enjoy the movie, but it is still fun to question these moments.

Actually, no. I think the only thing that I find more far-fetched is how Padme could ever fall in love with a twit like Anakin.

Look, I've had a whole car on my toe once and it was only bruised, but the car went up-and-over quite fast so my only real injury was my pride. Obi-Wan took a hard hit that should have crippled the man...only it didn't even come close. I mean, he doesn't just get crushed in between the floor and the catwalk, it actually shoves him against the floor. I really don't see how anybody could get by without injury.

My willing suspension of disbelief is pretty broad, but there are some things that just stretch it beyond breaking point. This happens to be one of them.

The point is that this isn't real life; it’s a movie, a Sci-Fi movie. They’re suppose to defy reality.

Force-keeper, as always a voice of sanity. thank you sir for keeping it real. It's a movie. This reminds me of that SNL with William Shatner at the Star Trek convention. We are getting worse than Trekkies here with our nitpickyness. Enjoy the film enjoy and discuss the more emotional, and wide reaching themes. Technicalities and scientific accuracies are definitely not the strong point of a GFFA.

I think he pressed the F8 button to Force Heal, and then he was as good as new.

A real car or a CGI car? tongue

It's one of those scenes that screams CGI, but I can forgive it. happy

In real life, I've seen people wipe out big time and get up like it was nothing...

...and others get slightly tapped and bleed all over the place.

Maybe if Obi Wan had limped a little in the following scene...

all it did was push him forward. It didn't land fully on his legs.

There appeared to be no broken bones or injuries. Anakin said Obi-Wan seemed to be okay. I think Dooku used the Force to trap Obi-Wan, not let the thing fall on him deliberately. I mean, there's no other explaination. Dooku was in control of the thing falling on Kenobi so as painful as it might have looked, Dooku is actually using his knowledge of the Force for defense. He is controlling the walkway as it lowers onto Obi-Wan. It's much different than say Sidious, throwing pods to crash into Yoda. Dooku was clearly trying to trap Obi-Wan, not injure him.

From what I can see, it's pinning his legs to the floor, and then slides him over.
