In training himself to be stronger than he was on Geonosis, Anakin has brought himself up through the ranks to reach the potential that he's destined for. But by using his emotions to get their, he's made himself stronger than he needs to be at this point. He reaches a point where he can be consumed by the Dark Side. Yoda and Mace have spent years learning to how to be as powerful as they are, while in control of their emotions. Anakin has obtained that power, but it's too quickly for him. And he lacks the proper control that's necessary to resist the Dark Side. Most Jedi can reach a point where it'll be a long time coming to reach the level of Yoda and Mace. In other words, as Gillard puts it, most Jedi reach Obi-wan's level. Which is level eight. Yoda and Mace had reached level nine through their careful training and control. Anakin's too strong to be at a level nine, this soon and this young. Without any of the control of the senior Jedi Masters. Thus when they fight, Anakin's bursting with energy and nothing to control himself internally.

While I've never been one to "rank" the Jedi, this explanation makes alot of sense and clarifies Gillard's comments. Thanks.
