Who's on the Payroll, Who's on the Take?
Is Palpatine paid a salary or did he just decide all the repuplics cash was his to do with whatever he wanted? Were the Jedi paid in ROTS?
Palpatine could of actually cut their pay and tax dollars for needed resources eventually causing the jedi to fold financially if his other plan didnt work.
Then needing money with a kid on the way Anakin would of went on the take and joined the sith, not only to save his wife but to feed his kids.
Im guessing Dooku didnt get any republic money indirectly as payroll because he had enough money already.
Padme was propobly on a Queens retirement plan so if she and Anakin would have announced their husband wife status then they would of had plenty of money, housing and food to live well and raise kids anyway.
Roo edit: You'd do better to ask this in
Literature
.

I imagine the Jedi had quite a few independent investments and ways of being self-sufficient. For one thing, they didn't need to buy food, as they had their own agricultural corps.

All political offices had money. There are numerous banks throughout the galaxy, besides the IBC. The Jedi also had an income that was set up for them, which allowed them to get cash out for certain missions where it was needed and in cases of emergencies. Normally Jedi would pay for information or transports, before the Jedi Starfighters were created.

I don't know how you could figure any of this out from the films. I guess this is EU territory.
