Colonel Freja Covell

Karrde's Base - Myrkr

"I see." Covell replied and nodded for Brek. The Major stepped forward and produced a datacard for Baldrac. "You can inform your boss then, that his smuggling operations will be officially legalized in two weeks by Empress Kiera. However, his ships will have to undergo a cargo inspection but any contriband discovered will not be used to arrest his men or confiscate his ships and cargo. On that datacard are several jobs General Thane wants your boss to run."

Enroute to Brentaal

"You can find additional information on your equipment and weapons on the datacard," the Major answered. Layor read over it again. Apart from a suit of stormcommando armour, he would be issued with a standard blaster rifle, smoke and stun grenades, plastic explosives, spare power packs, a combat knife, survival equipment, and communications gear.

Draug Layor took a few moments to commit the items to memory, sharpening his awearness for the mission ahead. Efficiency required that he use a minimal amount of equipment. Effectiveness was his goal.

He looked toward Dasnei, suspecting that she must be thinking along similar lines. It would certainly explain her relative silence. Her approach before the mission did not disturb him, and, although he had no desire for nervousness among his comrades, he did not detect fear of uncertainty from her, for which he was pleased. "What's our ETA, Major?" he asked, his tone cool.

Planetary Surface, Myrkr

Andrel Baldrac nodded his understanding. He would check the datacard thoroughly once the meeting was over. It was odd to hear of the Empress' involvement, but the smuggler knew little enough about her preferences and attitudes. Perhaps the Empire truly did support Karrde's organisation. It was certainly something to bring up when Baldrac next met with his employer. "Will that be all?" he asked, his tone casual.

I'd like to play some of these deliveries out. Would I be able to have a PM with details?

Imperial Throne Room, Planetary Surface, Bastion

She looked outside the room's transparisteel viewport, her eyes scanning the metrapolatin cityscape. It brought thoughts of Coruscant to mind, Imperial Centre, the symbol of the Empire's galactic dominace. Her arms were folded across her chest, and she wore her scarlet admiral's uniform. The chamber's door opened, but she did not turn. Minutes passed before she spoke. "You have done well, my angel," she said.

Across the room, kneeling before the Director of Intelligence, was the Royal Guard who had returned from Coruscant. He said nothing as Isard turned toward him. "Inform our agent on Garqi to make a report. I will have need of his services in the days ahead," she said, her tone frim. The Guard lowered his head in a slight bow, before he stood and exited the room.

Once he left, Isard considered her plans. Her gaze rested upon the doors through which one of her most trusted agents had departed. She turned slightly, smiling as she looked to the man that stood in the shadows, his form a silhouette. "Our guest at Lusankya will need to be visited. Ensure that she is deprived of food and rest," Isard said. "Once your task is complete, you will monitor certain members of the High Command. Imperial Intelligence has no use for traitors, nor does the Empire." When he left her presence she turned away from the shadows, to resume her gaze upon the city. The word Imperial Centre seemed to take upon a whole new meaning.

IC as ???? on Bastion

He stood silently, watching the spider skitter around her lair. She mewed over the Guard, softly dropping commands and orders to shake a galaxy as if she were merely dressing down a child in need of some discipline.

She had grown to typify power, oddly enough. She embodied such radiant power and confidence that it now was a defining characteristic of her persona.

Certainly, he had encountered such people before. Oh...ages and ages of memories had just such people locked away, in the cell of his dreams, where what once was and what seemed to possibly be danced around in his mind. Strange occurances, future ponderances, as if they had already happened and he was living them again.

It was the nature of life. Circular, it began as a teardrop of emotional passion that exploded in rippling circles into ever expanding circumferences on the lake of life before slowly fading from view, little more than vibrations and echoes through the water unseen but not for a longtime unheard.

The echoes sang, if you knew how to listen. They danced, swam, sung, and kept the merry joy of life and reason alive.

But sometimes, one couldn't afford to stand still and listen.

Sometimes, one had to act.

His Madame instructed him, he bowed his head but remained in shadow.

Better this way. Safer. Darker, in shadow, away from a galaxy who had forsaken him, away from a galaxy in which he had no business living.

A galaxy he owed everything and nothing to, and would loyally serve as long as he drew breath.

He nodded as the Madame Director spoke. So...to Lusankya he would go, inspect the forlorn insect in this spiders web, ensure she was still ripe and juicy for future consumption but still too weak to escape the net that had ensnared her, than he would report dutifully.

For the Empire, anything would be done.

He bowed from the shadow, and spoke in an even tone. "As you command it, Milady."

Leaving her chambers, he advanced through the corridors of power that defined Bastion and found his way to the launchpad.

He was autonomous but for his uniform. With it he was able to do almost anything in the Empire as he so chose. He wore the sigil of Imperial Intelligence, and on his shoulder sat the mark of the Lady Director: showing him apart as an Agent of her Imperial Directorate.

Autonomous, above all, and yet silent under it.

Kane Lavos would not fail.

Jetting off into space, his ship silently and without worry slipped off into hyperspace and toward Coruscant.

Colonel Freja Covell

ISD Conquest - Myrkr

"For now." Covell answered and then he and Major Brek returned to the Star Destroyer in orbit. Once Covell had returned, he spoke with Captain Jokar about the operation on the surface.

"Commanders confirm a success." Jokar answered. Covell nodded, pleased that the operation succeeded.

"Leave a gift behind in the asteroid field." Covell commanded.

One probot was dropped in the asteroid field after the Conquest had passed by it before jumping to hyperspace. The probot activated and monitored the system with the occasionl sensors and kept an ear open for certain transmissions, the asteroid field masking its signature from detection.

Light, of course.

CmdrMitthrawnuruodo, if the asteroid field is going to be used as a cover for the probot's sensors, does it not follow that the probot's own sensors will be impaired? If so, it won't be getting any/many outbound transmissions, assuming, of course, that there are any.

Grand Admiral Randal Duflin

Yaga Minor

The man's words did seem to have some merit. Defending the core, and hording all the resources there would only lead to utter destruction. It was best to strike elsewhere, while your own numbers were superior, to spread the enemy out thinner than they can securely handle.

"It is a possible bad heading, but i do believe it could be fixed quite easily. As for the area around Bastion, i too believe it is of great importance. It is best to better have a coushin of planets around our military capital. If you were to get a few more ships out here in the outer rim, what exactly do you plan to strike at first, my friend?"

General Gregory Thane

Thane's Chambers, SSD Terror - Undisclosed Location

Slowly and with some effort, General Thane slipped his uniform jacket from his shoulders and onto the back of a chair. His tunic joined the olive-gray jacket as he sat down to allow a droid slowly unwrap some of the bandages he still had to wear. There were just some injuries bacta could not miraciously heal. Standing behind the General and off to the side a few meters stood, Colonel Covell, watching his superior and friend be tended to.

General Thane looked into the wall mirror across the room to glance at the nervous Colonel. "So he wasn't there. A minor set back in our plans." He reassured the older man.

Covell watched the droid remove the bandages and tried to suppress a grimace as he witnessed for the first time how badly his superior really was injured that day. Scars crisscrossed his entire back and there were areas--where gauzes had been placed--that puckered pink and white. Covell knew when he recognized punture wounds, but he had never seen so many. Most of them looked like deep gashes torn into his superiors back, others looked like a slug bullet had been shot at him.

"The bacta couldn't heal them completely." Thane choked as the droid began applying a gel to the injuries and covering them with a fresh gauze. He continued to stare at the Colonel through the mirror and had seen the barely hidden grimace.

"I don't understand," Covell incrediously replied, "I've seen worse injuries bacta was able to heal, sir. Why didn't..."

"It heal me? The doctors asked that very same question. However they figure it is due to the full extent of my injuries that the bacta just could no longer heal my body." The droid was wrapping new bandages over Thane's injuries now. "I was suppose to stay in the hospital, but...you know me."

"They never released you did they?"

Thane was silent for several long minutes. Long enough for the droid to finish and get dressed again. He turned to face his second in command and gave him his best reassuring smile he could with the scars along his face. "Its not like they could keep me there forever anyway. Besides, I have the best Imperial doctors on this ship to monitor my health."

Covell nodded and then held out a datapad for the General to read. Thane took it and read over the contents with care. "Derricote believes that he can merge the two gene sequences, but he won't know for certain until you give the go on the project."

Thane thoughtfully reread the information again before answering, "Begin Project Dashade."

OOC - I figure it's time to pick up where we left off.

IC: Nathan Tyrael

Bilbringi

Tyrael grinned smugly as he watched the Rebels beat a hasty retreat. They obviously hadn't been expecting reinforcements - they were perfectly happy pounding an unarmed system. The ISD that had been under construction hadn't been too badly damaged - it was salvageable, but it wouldn't be operational anytime soon either.

He ordered his fighters back to their bays and his crews to stand down. They wouldn't be back anytime soon. The loss of the Lancer frigate was unfortunate - but it was in the past now. It was time to do what they'd originally come here for - assess the system's defenses and reinforce them.

Ringo waited for the officers to finish speaking, and then introduced himself.

"As Lt. Commander Varn said, I am Lt. Ringo Starr. I hope we can all work well together on this assignment. This could be easy, or it could become quite difficult. I believe we can handle it in either case."

Ringo stepped back.

When Ringo finished Raith spoke again. “Our orders are straight from Grand Admiral Randal Duflin himself.” A holographic map of the galaxy appeared from the table. “We are to proceed to the planet of Commenor, and secure the planet.” He brought up a system map of Commenor. “Intelligence is slim, and there may, or may not be a rebel presence on the planet. We are to report our findings to the Grand Admiral.” Raith looked over his crew. “Any questions.”

There were none. “Helmsmen, will you please take us to hyperspace.”

Ringo felt the hyperspace engines kick in.

Near Yaga Minor

"If you were to get a few more ships out here in the Outer Rim, what exactly do you plan to strike at first, my friend?" Duflin asked. Vullorn's reply was not soon in coming. It was a simple question, which seemed to require a chosen target as the core of the expected response. Vullorn hesitated. He thought deeply, choosing the best response, which was also the one he truly believed in.

"I would not stike," he said to the Supreme Commander. He waited for a few moments to see the the Grand Admiral's reaction before he explained his choice. "Not immediately. It seems to me as though the New Republic's efforts have shifted to a focus on expanding its government and territories, as the Empire had in its own rise." He smiled then as he added, "Only we had the resources to accomodate for such efforts. The New Republic does not."

Vullorn sat back in his seat comfortably, and folded his hands, resting them upon his small belly. "I suggest that we watch and wait. Let the New Republic expand. Let them conquer new worlds while we strengthen our defenses. As we do so, we may use the resources from Imperial Intelligence to learn of the Republic's moves. When I strike, Supreme Commander Duflin, it will be where the Republic is weakest and unprepared. When I strike it will be to cripple the Rebellion, but not destroy it, nor to provoke powerful retaliation. I would not waste valuable resources or men." His smile turned malevolent. "I would be a cancer. A terminal illness. An insrument of decay and inevitable death."

LightSide_Apprentice, GrandAdmiralJello

Imperial Throne Room, Planetary Surface, Bastion

Isard finished reading the report from her agent. One of the Alliance's members was on route to Garqi, having been captured near Eriadu, for imprisonment and subsequent interrogation. The WebMaster had caught another insect within his net. He was one of the better agents in service to Imperial Intelligence, as expressed by his record.

She reached out to close the report as she stood to walk toward the Throne. A flicker of movement caught her attention, she waved acknowledgement, but she continued to make her way to her seat. Only then did agent angel open the door for her visitor.

Admiral Drear approached her without so much as a glance at the Royal Guard who had granted him entry. He did not kneel before Isard, but gave a slight bow, acknowledging her and accepting her position on Bastion's Throne. "I bring news from the Moff Council," Drear said in introduction. He glanced back slightly, as if to indicate the Guard's presence, and the Admiral's own desire for privacy.

Ysanne Isard ignored him, taking pleasure in his obvious discomfort. "Well?" she asked, "What is it that you wish to report, Admiral?" Drear was silent for a few moments, choosing his words carefully. When he finally spoke, it was with confidence in his own authority and that of the Moff Council. "There is dissent among the Council of Moffs. Their thoughts and opinions are unanimous. Madame Director, they admit to having made a serious error of judgement in their choice of Emperor. You should be on the Throne, and not Iaius Jello. He is unfit for the title only worthy of the galaxy's leader."

"That is enough, Admiral," Isard said firmly. Her words caused the Admiral pause. She had placed him at unease. Isard knew that Drear was now on the defensive. "You speak of treason," she accused.

"He must be dealt with!" Drear countered, his tone hard, hinting frustration at the Director's accusation. He opened his mouth to speak further, but Isard cut him off with a sharp gesture as she stood from her Throne.

"You will return to the Moff Council," she commanded, ice-cold. "And inform its members that their allegiance is to the Emperor. It is he who is the symbol of the Galactic Empire. If you fail to respect him, then dare not disrespect his title and standing."

Drear fumed. He had not expected this. The Admiral had always possessed strong ties with Imperial Intelligence and he considered himself to be a personal friend and ally of Ysanne Isard. This, however, was betrayal for which he would not stand. He steeled himself as he said, "It shall be as you wish," forcing each word. He executed a slight bow and departed.

Once he had departed, Isard sent a message to Emperor Iaius I. She explained, briefly, that the Moff Council was suspected of treachery of the deepest kind. She further hinted that, with his permission, Imperial Intelligence would have it dealt with, efficiently, effectively, and quietly.

CmdrMitthrawnuruodo, if it is your honest opinion that the asteroid field will not impair the probot's intended purpose, then I will not argue the point happy

DarthXan318, I am currently engaged with Grand Admiral Grek Vullorn, but I will be keeping an eye on your progress. Feel free to do as you please, within reason, while I finish up. I would imagine that Yomin_Carr and yourself will have a few things to take care of, at the very least wink
