It was a fantastic movie with a great plot and a venerable cast of skilled actors.
I think that sums up Saint's post pretty well.

I find it funny Saint that you associate the birth of your daughter with being sent to social life hell.
It's probably the truth, though.

Put it this way, Jango: going out no longer involves picking up your car keys, your wife putting on her makeup, and going to the location. Going out with Jessica now involves assessing how awake Jessica is, thinking when you last fed her, how long it will be before she needs a feed, where will she sleep while you're actually out, how long will she sleep for, will she need to be fed when you're there, what clothes do you dress her in, what clothes do you have as replacement if she messes those clothes up, how many nappies do you bring along, if you have to change her where will that take place, if she has to be fed (breastfed) will that be able to be done, if she wakes up how will you entertain her, is where you're going a hazardous environment for kids, does anyone where you're going have a cold or a serious illness, is it day or night, etc, etc, etc. Most of this is because we have very little in the way of family support and there's no way I'm hiring a babysitter with prices as they are. Or with Jessica as young as she is.
Given all of these things it's usually better to just stay at home.

What? You can't afford that 16 year who wants 5 bucks an hour? Come on!

Saintheart posted: Robert Downey Jr., who turns in a performance that is up there with Tobey Maguire in Spiderman or Christian Bale in Batman Begins.
WTH? You compared him to the worst superhero acting performance ever and the best. You told everyone nothing with that statement, honestly.
Saintheart posted: I actually think Iron Man is the equal if not better of Spiderman or X-Men.
One of the worst superhero films and one of the best. Again, nothing.
Everything else about your little review, I wholeheartedly agree with. The movie is excellent, and ranks alongside Batman Begins as the greatest comic book film ever made, a title that no Spider-Man film, 2 included, comes anywhere close to.

I suppose we'll just have to agree to differ as to Maguire's performance in Spidey, Reynar. I actually thought Tobey did a pretty good job of playing a put-upon, nerdy guy, but I'll accept, to borrow a phrase, "results may vary" ...

Tobey was the wrong choice for Spiderman, I'm sorry to say.
Peter Parker may be nerdy, but he wasn't THAT nerdy nor short. Nor did he look like a nerd.
Oh and Christian Bale does a crappy Batman. Good Bruce Wayne, crappy Batman.

Yeah, but how does that compare against their break-even figure or an acceptable profit margin that would force the studio bean counters to let them make a good sequel? (I don't know the answers, to be honest.)
But you probably know what I'm getting at. If the movie only breaks even, it will get a sequel, but it won't be a decent sequel because the money won't be there to do it right. The bean counters will conclude, "Oh well, it doesn't really work as a box office winner, but we'll give 'em a shoestring budget so the name recognition wrings a few final dollars out of this dead horse..."
On the other hand, if Iron Man does kick butt at the box office, maybe that'll create a real impetus for a proper "Avengers" movie...

I may be alone in saying this, but I like solo heroes more than group heroes.
Example:
Batman solo - badass, dark ninja guy.
Batman with the Justice League - the moody ass that can't do much.
