GREEN PROJECT II: Servants of Order and Imperial Law

Marna_Veign

Duelling Room, Cavalet, Madrine

The Inquisitor stood silently within the hallway outside the duelling room. He could feel the woman nearby. "Leave us," he said to Wren in a tone that allowed no room for debate. The Imperial agent had come too far to back off now.

Wren seemed to misunderstand, however, as he touched the boy's shoulder and begged him to follow back the way they came. He stopped short as the Inquisitor flashed a glittering golden stare. Mere moments later, the hunter and his apprentice remained. What became of Wren, they knew not.

When the boy looked up at his teacher and protector he saw a stranger. For all intents and purposes the man at his side was a different being. But, the boy caught the same familiar sense from him. "A trick of the eyes," the Inquisitor explained, offering a slight smile as he said those words. "It will help in ways you may yet bear witness to." The boy did not understand. While the man beside him appeared entirely different, the fact that the Inquisitor remained was all that mattered.

They entered the duelling room together. The boy kept his peace just inside the doorway while his guardian walked toward the centre of the chamber. Neither spoke a word, though some common purpose bound them as one.

SAPPHIRE PROJECT ONE: Road to Freedom

Hand_of_Chaos

Coruscant

Time passed as it always did. The night grew darker and a chill wind swept through the air. It was too cold. Ruhtra frowned as he flew the skycar deeper into the bowels of Coruscant's underworld. Only then did he realise that the chill he felt was not from the cold alone, but from something far more penetrating and complete.

Instead of flying away from the sensation, he drove toward it with increasing speed. Conversation between Vale and he soon subsided as the truth crept ever nearer. Then, without any warning, Ruhtra pulled up and away from the depths of the cityworld.

There was hopelessness below. Enslavement and pain reached up at him through the Force, calling for some freedom or salvation from torment. Struggling to push the feelings aside and shield Vale from them all at the same time, it was no easy feat to bring the skycar to a landing some two hundred metres from one end of the Crimson Corridor.

It seemed that the place where the trouble began was the same location that beckoned them forth once more. Ruhtra might have wondered if it was not better to leave things be. Vale had already seen too much death and suffering. And yet, he knew that such was life. She would learn, in time, to accept both the good and the bad in the galaxy, just as she would in the Force.

"We must be careful," he said to her, leaving the skycar behind them. Unarmed and dressed as a wealthy merchant, the Knight all but demanded attention. "Please, lead the way." His eyes narrowed slowly while he gestured for Vale to follow her feelings.

May the Force forgive me for what she has yet to endure, Ruhtra prayed, trudging into the darkness. The life of their caretaker hung by the slightest thread and with it their hopes of discovering the true evil that stalked them. Likewise, the key to Vale's freedom lay closer than ever before.

BLUE PROJECT TWO: Path of Darkness

Ktala

Zeltros

Whether some greater purpose eluded him or not, Luke Skywalker possessed no doubt that the Force worked in mysterious ways. He could feel it from Mara and Nizzal and Calmand in differing degrees. Each of them seemed concerned and worried for obvious reasons, but there was something more between them. It was as if the Force itself felt their trouble. The atmosphere within the room, a circulation of anticipation and the desire to act out, served to underscore what likely filled the mind of all present. They were instruments of the Force and it was their duty to serve as best they knew how.

As his mind worked itself on a plan, the Jedi Master found that his eyes tracked Nizzal. Pacing within the room as she was, it was difficult not to pay her due attention. Luke began to wonder at the source of her discomfort. Perhaps the loss of her friends struck her more deeply than he imagined it might. His heart went out to her even as he sent a wave of warm calm to help her relax, though he could not be certain his efforts alone would be enough to set the twi'lek at ease.

Luke frowned curiously as Nizzal stopped all of a sudden and sat down with her back turned. There was a lingering silence within the room. Luke hardly noticed the swirl of energy focused around Nizzal until he felt the Force rise to a peak. He caught sight of the frozen goblet gripped tightly within Nizzal's hand mere seconds before it shattered. Too surprised to speak, Luke simply stared.

"The threat is even greater than you imagine, Master Skywalker," came Nizzal's delicate response to her own actions, though she hardly seemed intent on as much. For that matter she hardly seemed to notice her moment of tension as it was set free either.

It was unwise to upset a Jedi Master. Former farm boy, Luke Skywalker, almost glanced with an eyebrow raised toward his wife, one-time Emperor's Hand and smuggler extraordinaire, before he caught himself. Instead, he offered Nizzal his full attention expecting her to explain herself.

Nizzal, by way of response, picked up a piece of fruit. "It seems one of them was very interested in me. Even while I remained cloaked," she said, not quite conversationally. "I think I should find out why they were so interested. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take long for someone to show up..."

Was she offering herself as bait? It would certainly explain why she spoke with her back turned.

Her words resumed at a softer tone. "Whatever we decide to do, we need to do it now, while I am still able," she concluded.

Half expecting more, Luke simply waited. He watched as Nizzal stared long and hard at Calmand. Luke capitalised upon the opportunity and exchanged a quick thought with Mara, seeking her take on what had transpired, though he only received a sense of preoccupation from the redhead. Mara was obviously too consumed with her own observations.

"Time is of the essence," Calmand put forth, breaking the silence. He looked from Nizzal to Luke before he pressed on, his voice firm. "Our would-be captors are here, now. We cannot be sure that they will remain here for as long as we are." There was no need to add that any opposition they might have would likely flee or hide all the more deeply should they discover the presence of added competition. "The advantage, such as it is, remains with us for the moment."

Normally one for patience, any suggestion of haste from Calmand was to be taken very seriously. He knew as much, though he spoke not for that reason so much as because he truly felt the need for urgency.

Interested to learn of Luke's plan, and not at all willing to share Nizzal's secret unless explicitly voiced from her first, the older Jedi fell back into silence. They were all waiting for the same thing. A decision was to be made. Soon.

But, the decision to move did not come from Luke at all. "We leave at once," Mara stated flatly. "I will join Nizzal. Unless someone else has a better plan, we're to learn of the whereabouts of our shadowy abductors and subdue them." She spared a glance at Luke, smiling in what she felt was a kindly manner, though it was nothing if not predatory. "Needless to say, none of us should approach our suspected targets alone." That, she knew, would comfort her husband and forestall any protest.

Suiting actions to her words she approached Nizzal with a warmer, almost motherly smile. "Let's see if we can't divert them from your scent," Mara commented, her eyes taking measure of the formidable female before her. Very few earned her respect as Nizzal had, fewer still being of the fairer gender. As far as Mara Jade Skywalker was concerned, it was time to set things straight.

Nar Shaddaa, Hutt Space

It was not at all difficult to determine the company the Dathomiri kept, or lacked for that matter. Mogra caught not a glimpse or sign of any visible companions the Witch might have shared. The outside of the hostess club, however, was entirely another story. It were as if unseen eyes maintained watch upon the club, seeking not only signs of exiting patrons and those that might otherwise enter, but something else. They seemed keen, almost hungry for what lay inside.

The best way Mogra could think to describe their circumstances was not a comfortable one. The Gregarious Bonfire was as a cage, its dancers like beautiful birds under the observation of felines eager for easy prey. Mogra and Tyranny just happened to be sharing a space in that cage. It did not help that each was also an attractive and alluring avian, too, so far as the metaphor was extended.

For her part, Tyranny caught little sense of her opponent's potential power. That the woman was dangerous was apparent. Speaking with honeyed words and promising all but the world to her target, the witch managed to ensnare with expertise brought from training enough to sell a Toydarian short in a swap-meet.

"We can offer you an escape from all of this," the witch was saying in a quiet whisper. "Imagine an opportunity to use your skills to bewilder and enchant, all while earning a pretty sum of credits to call your own. You will amount enough to purchase a small moon after but a year among our ranks, and you will never again fear the leering eyes of such ilk as these." She gestured slightly to indicate her surroundings. She seemed to catch sight of Tyranny, then, and added quickly, "Come with me, and I will set you free."

I do indeed have a character to play in the scenario, LSA. I'll be playing as my old favorite, Alexander d' Cannith, who'll act as my main character. NPCs will come in the future as the story progresses. At the moment, I'm just waiting for more private messages from others.

OOC: I really would not mind this being my last post before the baby. Of course with how long it is between updates, it will be. The due date of August 1 is getting closer, and I'm getting tired of being pregnant. I want to hold my daughter in my arms, not my belly. I want to dress her up in the adorable clothes I've been given! But for now, on with the game...

Marna Veign (Jeni Childs) - Duelling Room, Cavalet, Madrine

Marna sat in the center of the dueling mat meditating and coming to terms with what had happened the last time she'd been there on Madrine. She was just feeling at peace again when she felt something. Some presence in the Force just outside the room.

She reached out briefly and felt three people outside, one of which went away. There was something...different about the other two than the one. She opened her eyes and stood, sword still in hand, pointed downward, as the Inquisitor and the boy entered the room. The boy stopped just inside the room while the Inquisitor walked toward Marna.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Marna thought as he approached. She hid any outward reaction and kept her calm.

"May I help you with something?" she asked the Inquisitor.

Whether she was prepared for his arrival, or just happened to be standing as he entered the room remained unclear. He did not imagine she had sensed him, but the Force was known to provide insight and warning to those who were attuned to its guiding energy. The woman was such a person, that much was obvious.

She held a sword within her hand, pointed toward the ground. "May I help you with something?" she asked calmly.

"You may," responded the Inquisitor, taking little notice of the weapon held before him. "Are you sensitive to the Force?"

His question came without warning. He spoke evenly and without accusation or threat. It was enough to shake the nerves in most people. Yet his intention was not to rattle the woman before him or set her ill at ease. He wanted to hear her words, whatever they might be.

Apprenticed, I'll wait for your signal as to when things shall begin happy

Marna_Veign, let us see if you're able to view just this one more update before you bring a new life into our world wink

Marna was not expecting such a blunt question about her Force sensitivity and it caught her off guard.

"The Force?" Marna asked, suprised. She continued, trying to sound unsure of what she was talking about. "I think I've heard of that. Doesn't it have something to do with the Jedi or something?"

Marna, not knowing what this man's intent was, did not want to openly admit that not only is she sensitive to the Force, but had been a Jedi herself. All the time she'd been hiding her true self taught her to be very cautious when it comes to talking about the Force.

It might have been difficult to determine whether the woman was lying. She certainly seemed surprised for the question directed at her. The Inquisitor, however, had come to Madrine knowing who it was that he was pursuing, and precisely why it was that she was of particular interest to the Empire.

"It is the source of the mysterious power the Jedi possessed," the man said, nodding as he responded to Marna. "There have been others who share that ability, though they may be untrained in its ways." Pausing as if in thought, the Inquisitor frowned slightly. He seemed to look upon Marna in a new light. "Will you allow me to test you for this affinity?"

Nizzal

Zeltros

Nizzal looked at Calmand for many long moments, before she finally turned away, and walked to the other side of the room. She heard Calmand speak up then. "Time is of the essence," Calmand put forth, breaking the silence. He looked from Nizzal to Luke before he pressed on, his voice firm. "Our would-be captors are here, now. We cannot be sure that they will remain here for as long as we are." "The advantage, such as it is, remains with us for the moment."

Nizzal gave a slight smile. She was almost tempted to add something, when a new voice broke in. "We leave at once," Mara stated flatly. "I will join Nizzal. Unless someone else has a better plan, we're to learn of the whereabouts of our shadowy abductors and subdue them." She spared a glance at Luke, smiling in what Nizzal would call predatory. Not that she didnt feel the same at the moment. "Needless to say, none of us should approach our suspected targets alone." Nizzal nodded, as she faced the group now, agreeing with what was being said. She definatelly didnt want to just sit any longer.

Suiting actions to her words she approached Nizzal with a warmer, almost motherly smile. "Let's see if we can't divert them from your scent." Mara commented. Nizzal's lekku moved slowly, as she thought of the statement. "Hmmm. The only thing that would take them off the trail, is possibly a stronger presence. But too strong, and they might be afraid to take the bait." Nizzal gave a predatory grin herself. Nizzal was quick to notice the change in Mara, but in front of the others, she held her own thoughts silent. "They also seem to be focusing on dancers." Nizzal paused a moment. "I have a friend here. She is the one who supplied the room." Nizzal gestured around them. As such, I have access to some things, if deemed necessary." Nizzal looked at Mara. "What did you have in mind?" she asked, her lekku curled around her in curiosity. Nizzal was curious as to what she had in mind. A red twi'lek was not easy to hide. Course, she could change her skin color, but Nizzal was begining to like the idea of a hunt. She was tired of running. And if they could find out what had happened to the others, even better.

"Im pretty sure, if we were to show up at this one favorite dancer spot and put on a show, they would show up quickly." Nizzal felt much better about the situation now. This was more of her element, as much as she hated to admit it. Except this time, there was more at stake than simply herself. Nizzal reached over, and began munching on another piece of fruit. "Here, I am known as Airye. Im sure a few right whispered words, would get our target moving." Nizzal leaned on the table, finishing the piece of fruit.

Vale - Coruscant

Vale was silent, as Ruhtra and she flew into the darkness that was Coruscants underworld. Ruhtra had asked her to try and use her magic to locate the nice healer who had helped them so. At first, things seemed normal. But she found herself curling up wihin the larger boys clothes she now wore. It was cold. A depressing type of cold. Vale frowned, not quite understanding it all. It was getting dark outside as well. Vale noticed when Ruhtra drove down towards the city, increasing speed. Things got quiet within the shuttle. Vale suddenly had a very strange sensation. She didnt like it at all. If felt vaguely familiar. Then, without any warning, Ruhtra pulled up and away from the depths of the cityworld.

Vale gave a short yelp at the sudden change of direction, but she was happy that he did it. Before the sensations had stopped, she felt something horrible, but she couldnt quite put a name to it. She had curled up, hugging her knees. She watched Ruthra as he had moved to land the skycar. He seemed to be feeling something as well, as it took great concentration from to to safely land the shuttle some two hundred metres from one end of the Crimson Corridor. Vale slowly uncurled, and stood. She walked over to where Ruhtra was, looking out. It seemed that the place where the trouble began was the same location that beckoned them forth once more. "We must be careful," he said to her, leaving the skycar behind them. Vale nodded in agreement. "Please, lead the way." His eyes narrowed slowly while he gestured for Vale to follow her feelings.

Vale looked at him a moment, before she turned. She bit her lip slightly, tugging on the cap on her head, pulling it down even further. She then turned to focus on the feeling she had remembered had been the healer. A powerful feeling hit her, almost causing her to stop. She recognized that sensation. It was something she had felt it before. When Ruhtra had found her. She turned her head, and growled slightly. Eyes narrowed to near slits, as she tried her best to only focus on the healer, and block out all other negative sensations. It was hard work, and Vale soon found herself sweating at the effort. She then began to move. Slowly at first, but slowly picking up speed. She could not block out everything, as Ruthra had told her to be careful. If the healer was being hurt, and it was because of them... Vale felt her anger began to smoulder and rise. Should could not understand some things. The healer was nice, and helped people. Didnt anyone else try to help him? Maybe it was this place. Humans were strange. Then again, her only guide she had to human behavor was Ruhtra. And she already knew monsters were not limited to only human. Vale pushed the darker thoughts aside for now. She needed to concentrate on finding the healer, and leave such debates for later. Vale rounded a corner, and stopped, pausing for a moment, as her sensative nose picked up a smell she knew too well, no mater what species.

Blood.

Vale began to move again, slowly as she was sure that off in the distance eyes might be watching them.

Tyranny & Mogra

Nar Shaddaa, Hutt Space. The Gregarious Bonfire

Tyranny approached the pair with the intensity of a stalking predator upon it's prey. Her heightened sense of alertness granted her the ability to piece together and decipher what the Dathomir Witch was telling the red haired female. It made Tyranny twitch her nose in distaste.

But Tyranny had already closed the gap by the time the Dathomiri was finished with her lies.

"How very sad. Making promises you can't keep." Tyranny said accusingly to the Dathomir Witch. Her tone was hard and openly condescending, colder than a long winter night on the icy tundras of the planet Hoth. Her green eyes gleamed dangerously as she half-turned to include the red haired female in the conversation.

"Of course, she only wants you to imagine these things because that's all you would be doing." She said to the flame haired female. "... Credits enough to by a small moon indeed." Tyranny scoffed. "Your kind can hardly get around to purchasing ships, much less a moon." That last bit was a stab at Witch's exaggeration of moneraty affluence.

"You my dear, possess a gift which is priceless. It is worth more than all the credits ever amassed by the greediest of Hutts. Search your feelings...."

Tyranny's cold voice was now laden with emotion as she fixed her gaze on the dancer.

"There is only passion. Through passion you'll gain strength. Through strength, you'll gain power. Through power, you'll gain victory and through victory....." Tyranny's emeralds eyes looked around, silently indicating their surroundings. "...Your chains are broken."

The mirialan force user paused a moment for the words to register upon the dancer before speaking again.

"But mere words cannot convey the depth of such mysteries as effectively as a live demonstartion..." she said, the cold tone returning in full force. A cruel smile underscoring her intent.

".....isn't that so, sister?"

She stressed the word 'sister' as her eyes fell upon the Dathomir Witch. Tyranny's hand entered her dark robes in one smooth motion and remained there for a full heartbeat.

Of course, she knew that Mogra was listening and watching the proceedings as closely as possible, which was something the back water force witch was completely ignorant of.

Master and Apprentice were well coordinated to handle almost any turn the sitution might take.

Marna looked at him, trying to determine his motives. "Why? Do you think I have this ability? What if I do? What then?" She spoke her questions in a way that implied that she had no idea if she was Force sensitive.

Mogra
Nar Shaddaa, Hutt Space. The Gregarious Bonfire

As Tyranny approached the pair, she walked with the intensity of a predator. Mogra mentally grinned. It was hard not to watch Tyranny when she went into action. She moved with the same deadly grace that had attracked Mogra to the woman not so long ago. As Tyranny moved to intercept the two women, Mogra sat silent at the bar. She might have givin the illusion of doing nothing, but it truth she was listening to every word and nunance Tyranny was projecting, even as Mogra pretended to sip on her drink. Her job was to make sure the Witch did not have allies of her own within the bar, and to react if anything unexpected happened. But for now, Mogra was free to watch the show.

"How very sad. Making promises you can't keep." Tyranny said accusingly to the Dathomir Witch. Mogra turned, her gaze moving about the place as she bit her cheek. Mogra knew that tone of voice Tyranny was using, and its bitting mocking tone well. "Of course, she only wants you to imagine these things because that's all you would be doing." She said to the flame haired female. "... Credits enough to by a small moon indeed." Tyranny scoffed. "Your kind can hardly get around to purchasing ships, much less a moon." Mogra took another sip of her drink, and then leaned back, seemingly in a relaxed state. But she was aware of every ebb of the Force and of particular the Darkside around them. That this Witch was tracking the same target as they had been, was most curious, however. What had suddenly made the Sisterhood seek out recruits? Ah well, questions for another time, as now Tyranny was speaking once more. "You my dear, possess a gift which is priceless. It is worth more than all the credits ever amassed by the greediest of Hutts. Search your feelings...." Mogra had listened to her mistress speak to many of the young women they had found, after being the only beings left from the Dark Jedi. A failed experiment, but they had both gained so much since then. It had been more than worth it. Tyranny's voice was heavy now, as she spoke directly to the dancer.

"There is only passion. Through passion you'll gain strength. Through strength, you'll gain power. Through power, you'll gain victory and through victory....." Tyranny's emeralds eyes looked around, silently indicating their surroundings. "...Your chains are broken." As Tyranny paused for effect, Mogra licked her lips. She knew the truth of those words well enough. The echoed throughout her entire being. It was the reason that Tyranny and she had survived, and had not fallen to the waste, like so many other pathetic creatures. Mogra's eyes beneath her goggles narrowed to mere slits, as she flexed her hand. And the woman who had joined them. She was an interesting creature as well. As such, Tyranny and Mogra mainly delt with women. Men were too weakwilled and fickle. Mogra snorted, as she took a nibble on a small foodstick she held in her pouch. It was time for the more than mere words now.

"But mere words cannot convey the depth of such mysteries as effectively as a live demonstartion..." Tyranny stated, and Mogra mentally grinned at the timing. She could feel the energies around the room.

".....isn't that so, sister?" Tyranny was now staring directly at the Dathomir Witch as her hand entered her dark robes in one smooth motion and remained there for a full heartbeat. Ah, there was the moment. Now Mogra became an intensly focused creature. For if the Witch had any others in her thrall, then they would also be preparing. Mogra did not watch so much with her eyes, as she did within the Force, looking for those subtle signs that would alert her than danger was immeniant. Physically, Mogra looked to be watching the next dancer on stage, and paying no attention to other activity around her. But if they were fools enough to make such an mistake, then Mogra would be happy to show them the error of their decision. That is, if Tyranny left any behind.

New Republic Nebula-class Star Destroyer Obi-Wan, en route to the Errant Venture, Near Yavin Four

None of them had expected to return to the Yavin system. It had been almost three years since he had last seen the place that had become home, that place that he had come to love. Alexander d’ Cannith pressed a hand against the glass of the transport, his other grasped tightly around the worn-down leather handgrip of his lightsaber. He had missed Yavin so much these past three years. It had been here that he had begun his journey, where he had begun to become more actively involved in the matters of the Jedi Order. All thanks to a simple breaking of the rules, he thought with a grin as he remembered Master Keth, someone he had only known for a short while but had made a huge impact upon him.

“Master d’ Cannith, we’ve about an hour away from the Errant Venture, according to the commander.” A young man, a member of the crew he had assumed, informed him, interrupting his train of thought.

Alex turned his head over his shoulder to look at the man, chestnut-brown hair whipping around. “Thank you. And no need to call me ‘Master’. I’m not even a Knight yet.” He told the young man, chuckling a little. But the young man did not respond, lowering his head a little in respect and returning to his duties. Even with many believing the Jedi Knights to be responsible for the Yuuzhan Vong’s invasion of the galaxy, due to their never-ending hunt for the Force-wielders, there were still some that believed the Jedi could do some good.

The trip aboard the Obi-Wan continued silently, peacefully. Nothing could go wrong. He cleared his mind of such a thought. I don’t want to jinx this, he mused with a smile. His thoughts began to wander, especially on the other Jedi aboard the Obi-Wan. “Where is Satryna?” He wondered aloud. Satryna Nova was someone he had first heard of almost two years ago, after the Jedi Order had moved to Dagobah. She had gone to Garqi undercover to help with something involving the Yuuzhan Vong. Or something like that, Alex thought. The Jedi Padawan moved along the bridge of the Obi-Wan, staring out into hyperspace. Then a strange shudder, the sounds of failing machinery, the constant blinking of red lights, and that whine of the alarm. This could only mean one thing. Yuuzhan Vong, Alex thought, a frown spreading across his lips.

“Interdictors!” Someone screamed.

“And docking ships! The bastards are trying to board!” Another shouted.

Alex scrambled across the bridge toward the viewport that gave them a clear view of the space before him and opened himself to the Force, hoping that Satryna was somewhere nearby.

Damned jinxes, he thought with a sigh.

IC: Satryna Nova, Jedi Knight

New Republic Nebula-class Star Destroyer Obi-Wan, en route to the Errant Venture, Near Yavin Four

There is no emotion; there is peace

There is no ignorance; there is knowledge

There is no passion; there is serenity

There is no death; there is the Force.

Satryna Nova sat cross-legged in the middle of her dimly lit spartan ship's cabin. Eyes closed, arms over legs, hands on knees. Her outline barely traceable. She was presently in deep contemplation...in much needed meditation. Such moments helped her to keep centered, to stay in the Light.

After years of incessant war and innumerable campaigns against the Yuuzhan Vong, the effects of constant battle had finally caught up to the fierce Jedi Knight Warrior. It was taking a greater effort to stay in the light of late. The sight of too many dead friends and innocents were rendering her insensate, even for a zabrak. That level of detachment was not due to any lofty pursuit, rather, it was the chilling result of too many bloody battles.

Satryna meditated upon the Jedi code once again, for it was her anchor.

How ironic it was, that when she found herself fast approaching the breaking point, there should be a lull in the war. She knew, of course, that it had nothing to to with her and everything to do with the brave souls that fought earnestly to drive back the Vong. Just the same, the timing in itself curious, though she was very greatful.

Despite this, the Vong were still a very real and immediate threat. The fight was not over. Satryna tried her best to come to terms with the disappearance of Xardoz, a Falleen Jedi Knight and close friend. He too was at Garqi, fighting in the frontlines, the same as she. The Vong made a push to regain control of lost ground and were successfully repelled, but at a cost. Satryna had lost sight of Xardoz during the fierce battle, and afterwards she could not find him. No one could. They hadn't even found a body and Satryna could not find him through the Force.

Satryna waited. Time passed. And nothing. She hated to think that he'd been taken for a sacrifice. The worst thing was not knowing. The hardest thing was reconciling herself with such a close loss and moving on. That hadn't happened yet.

The jedi code was her anchor against anger and resentment. Her tether-line to the Light.

In the few weeks past, she was, quite by accident, reunited with another Jedi Knight of her acquaintance. Well, more accurately put, she knew of Alexander d'Cannith as a member of the Jedi Order. He was a fine example of a Jedi Knight, but meeting him did little to improve her spirits. Her....'distaste' for the Vong was still an intense focus. That they were 'forceless' warmongers did not help their case either. Now they travelled to rendezvous with the Errant Venture. Satryna sought solace and serenity during the journey, but this was not to be.

The war had not yet been won.

There was a strange shudder followed by the sounds of failing machinery. The dimmed amber lights in her cabin turned red...and then the whine of the alarms filled her room and the adjacent corridors. That could only mean one thing.

The Yuuzhan Vong.

"Dovin Basals." she whispered, almost snarling the words.

With a deep sigh, Satryna got up smoothly from where she sat. She straightened her tunic and robes and calmly exited the dim cabin she occupied. Ship hands and personnel ran in all directions. She moved among them, almost unnoticed. By now she was too well versed in Vong tactics. Once they forced a ship to drop from hyperspace into normal space, they would try to board. If successful, they would attempt to capture the bridge as well destroy the engineering section, not only to cripple the enemy ship, but also because of their deep hatred of machines, which was legendary. Not to mention the ships in the hangar.

Calmly, Satryna produced a commlink from within her robes and activated it before speaking into it.

"D'Cannith. What's the status?"

He could feel them in the Force, trying to board the ship. Well, one could not feel the Yuuzhan Vong in the Force. They were voids in the Force, just blank spots. That discovery had enabled the Jedi Knights to sense them among crowds, when they wore their masquers, inventions capable of hiding their true hideous visages. The Jedi now wished that the Jedi hadn’t discovered such a thing.

There were so many.

“Fear is the mind killer.” Alex muttered under his breath, the cold metal of his lightsaber twirling through his callused fingers. “I will face my fear. I will let it pass through me. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” He grasped happy memories, reaching out to the Force for warmth. And there it was. A grin tugged at the corner of the Jedi Padawan’s mouth.

"d'Cannith. What's the status?" There was a gravelly sound from the pocket of his robes. It was Satryna. Alex reached into his pocket, his robes whipping behind him as he pulled the comlink up to his mouth.

“They haven’t boarded yet.” He told her.

Then a thump, the sounds of a distant explosion.

He grimaced, then raised the comlink to his mouth once more.

“Okay, I was wrong ‘bout that one.” He told her, reaching out into the Force. They were at the engine room. It was one of their strategies. How many times had Alex gone over it with Master Onasi and Allundra?

“They’re at the engine room.” He told her through the comlink. “As expected. Meet you there.”

His robes whipping behind him, he raced toward the engine room.
