"Yes, we did. Lank had an ex-squadronmate come pick us and the family of Wed-er, General Antilles up. My niece Kayssa was not so fortunate, though. But I think you've already encountered her." She sighed. "But I'll not try to keep you. Please, tell Lank that we're all okay. He has enough to worry about right now. Just...tell him to ..." *Fera huffed out a breath, unsure how to say what she wanted to say.* "Tell him not to stop thinking, or feeling. He'll understand. Thank you very much Ms. Tsalisz. And please be careful yourself."

Thyferra

It took a little bit of work, but Vaya was able to get off planet without rousing too much suspicion. The port guard questioned why she didn't have bacta supplies to return to her needy relief group as per the cover story, but a quick lie about the companies refusing to deal piecemeal seemed to placate them. Her A-Wing lifted off slowly and headed for deep space. Just before jumping to Hyperspace back home, she remembered the second pad, fishing it out from her bag. She read it quickly, the color draining slightly from her already pale face. Dialing up her comm system, she called Chit.

"Vaya... thanks for the payment. I take it dumping the stuff was successful."
"Yeah, but what's with the second job?"
"Hey, I just heard it on the waves and thought you'd be interested."
"Assassinations aren't exactly my M.O."
"True, but getting creds is. Look, it's your call. Do what you want. If you need the creds, do the job."
Vaya sighed. "Get in touch with the client. Tell them the job will be done."

She really didn't want to do this, but the money was too good to pass up. Half a million creds in bounty for some political activist. As she hit hyperspace, a small part of her mind hoped she was doing the right thing.

The comms officer on duty was bored. Sure, there was the need to maintain multiple comm streams to the surface teams, but most of those were handled by the computer. She didn't have much to do, but of course Commander Sunford would chastise her for slacking off, so she dutifully stared at the console. The officer almost missed the indication of a new signal, from the watchdog. She perked up and punched it through. The watchdog was a program made to monitor the Holonet for anything that might be of importance to the Outcasts. On the screen, a newscast appeared. The comm officer made sure she was recording.

"This is Galactic News Network, our reporter is in the field right now."

"I'm here on Talus, in the Coreillian system, reporting on what could be a potential declaration of independence for the Double Worlds. Tensions have erupted over the past few months with a radical group coming into power and rallying support among the Double World citizens. The Twin Planet Coalition, as they deem themselves, are determined to right - in their opinion - a severe injustice to their worlds; that of ignorance. Within the Corellian system, Coreillia, Selonia, and Sacorria are the three main planets economically and socially speaking, leaving Talus and Tralus to be disregarded by many as excess planets. Talus and Tralus barely contribute a significant percentage to the system economy, and many of the worlds' populations live below the local poverty lines. Due to this, the TPC has gained immense popularity with their promises of equality and fairness among all Coreillian people, though current officials have labelled them as a fringe terrorist group.

Their leader is a human, and while little is known of him at this point, one thing that is known is his blaming of the Jedi Order for their current predicament. It's well known that Jedi Knights were present during the Centerpoint Crisis. That coupled with several prominent Jedi being from Coreillian worlds other than Talus and Tralus are reasons for the TPC's decidedly anti-Jedi message. The leader even goes so far as to declare the Jedi a menace to all free citizens of the Alliance.

This mysterious and charismatic man is scheduled to appear for a rallying speech here in the Talus capital tomorrow afternoon. Already, hundreds have begun to gather, setting up temporary shelters. However, there is great opposition to the TPC here on Talus, with anti-TPC protesters here as well. So far, hostilites have not erupted, through several arrests on both sides of the political issue have been made. Tensions are high and the local law enforcement expect a breakdown of control. Already, additional troops have been pulled from local precincts to ensure the demonstration is peaceful for both groups. In an unexpected move, we've received word that Master Skywalker of the Jedi Order has personally sent a small contingent of Jedi here to keep the peace as well, acting on behalf of the TPC rally. They have not arrived yet, but the announcement has led to unruliness from both sides.

We'll stay on this story as more develops. Back to you in the main office."

After the message was recorded, the comm officer immediately flagged the transmission, forwarding it to VC Lank Pavail. After that, she continued on her duties. It was out of her hands now.

"I don't like your tone. but I'll answer. One, I'm the guy who's getting you off this rock with the Other outcasts, Two, a big bomb went off. Compliments of Treast Kre'Fey. and Three, We are leaving in such a rush cause that bomb was meant for the Outcasts, one of whom is now severely injured. Now no more questions."

Her mouth hung open at the sharp reply she'd received. She hadn't meant to have any tone. Her arms crossed defensively and her lower lip twitched slightly into a pout as she lowered her eyes, hurt by the reprimand, but Rhianon obediently shut her mouth. Leaning back against her bag, they waited in suddenly tense, awkward silence.

Rhi forcefully pushed aside the hurt to contemplate the rest of what he'd said. Concern flooded her at the thought of a bomb in what should have been a secure location. She wondered just what she'd jumped into, but hesitated to say any more to the man with her.

Deliberately uncrossing her arms, she started silently and steadily drumming fingers atop one knee, eyes fixed ahead of her.

Nia sat with Dallas and Duja. "I don't think I can express my gratitude enough." she said, smiling at them both and trying not to sound like a gushing teenager. Dinn had breifly outlined what the Valla nee Snowtrekker family did for a living, and while it bothered her somewhat, it wasn't the usual reaction of 'stun now, arrest later'."But I'll try. I've still got contacts in law enforcement. Most of them are crooked enough now, after the war, to look the otherway should someone ask." She paused, unsure as to whether she'd just insulted them or not. With a small shrug, she continued. "But that's neither here nor there. I'll contribute somehow. Maybe Mister Reporter over there needs an assistant."

Torsy leaned back in his chair. "I'll talk to Jameysen and see if there's a possibility of the paper employing you. However, he's not the most benevolent being in the galaxy--I'll have to be persuasive."

"Shouldn't be a problem for you," Sloan said. "You got Laine to do that interview-date thing."

Torsy's cheeks tinged pink. "It was not a date."

Dallas turned to Nia. "You know, I have to apologize--we usually aren't like this; being cooped up in the Enclave was tiring, to all of us--and we just want to ensure the most possibilities for safety. You've only seen our stressed selves."

"Dallas is always stressed," Jamin said, smiling. Everyone knew that he was just teasing.

A medtech walked down corridor after corridor, following the directions he'd been given. He'd never been in this section of the complex before, and pondered the fact that he'd never even suspected there was a hangar bay this far away from the main hangars.

There was the door he'd been instructed to go through. The guards challenged him and he had to show his ID badge and relate that he had been sent from the medical ward to make arrangements aboard the Nevaah Efase for Jedi Outcast Nimaj Neb. The guards called in over their secure comlinks and verified his story, then opened the door to the hangar.

He entered the bay and walked around the ship looking for the entrance. He found it, but it refused to open when he put his palm on the lock. No one challenged him for entry, and he didn't see anyone around. Oh well, I guess I wait until someone shows up. He found a crate and sat down to wait.

Rhianon looked up in surprise as the woman approached them. Yet another face she was unfamiliar with. But no one she had met so far seemed overly eager to introduce themselves or share their name. And force forbid she ask another question.

With a hesitant smile she rose to her feet, adjusting her gunbelt before she reached a hand down to lift her bag. Slinging it over one shoulder she glanced between the man and the woman, determined to remain obediently silent.

Realizing that his report wasn't being cognitized by the recepient audience he sat up slowly rubbing the freshly sealed vocoder that now lie embedded in his body, and decided to do something about it. Why ignoring a droid giving a report was pantomime to treating him like a message machine. That, that would not do, perhaps he shouldn’t have taken his previous Masters son’s acceptance so quickly.

Doing a little side tapping into general files didn’t take too much of a conversation with the main computers while Josy finished his body work. Thanking Josy and putting in for a pass after downloading and dictating his information he quickly made his way to the briefing room keeping his link and holographic visage projecting and receiving. Which he used to speak as his physical form neared the room, “Chancillors, and ungentle beings. I believe someone is entering that may be of assistance with this mission.”

The doors parted as he walked in, his body glinting softly, “How may I serve best? Or should I just make recommendations?”

OOC: Okay, given the game's speed, this is decidedly some time shifting going on. How could it be the next day here when less than 15 minutes have passed on the Ill Repute? Well, we could get into that, but the physics are hard to explain, so screw it, here we go.

"This is Galactic News Network, once again here on Talus. Local time is approaching the time in which the TPC leader is scheduled to appear. Earlier today, the Jedi contingent arrived, headed by Jedi Master Streen and some of his students. We interviewed him earlier today.... "

[scene changes, message Recorded earlier appears on screen]

Master Streen, what are your opinions on this rally?
We don't try to have an opinion on the matter. The people are free to express themselves in a civilized manner.
But surely the tension and the anti-Jedi message must be discouraging for you?
We're simply here to ensure peace is maintained. It's a touchy issue; we understand that many people are struggling after the wars with the Vong. We think that our being here is a sign of commitment to all citizens of the galaxy

[back to the reporter]

"The Jedi are within the crowd, ensuring the peace is kept. The local police forces are on the perimeter, keeping the rally protesters from mingling with the TPC supporters. Everyone is waiting for... wait.... wait, yes the crowd is stirring, it's him, the leader of the TPC. They are being led to the center of the square, the platform ready for them. He should begin speaking any moment..."

The square was surrounded by buildings, most a few stories tall. On the tallest in the southwest corner, Vaya rose from her nap as she heard the crowd stirring. She had arrived late the night before and set up where she would make her move during the darkness. She rolled over and pulled out her binocs, focusing on the square below. The target moved through the crowd, protected by his own envoy as well as the Jedi protectors. She bit her lip slightly; no one had told her Jedi would be here. Hopefully, none would wise up until it was too late. She reached into the bag of gear she brought for the mission and brought out the weapon, a modified Blastech rifle with Sniper attachments. Vaya quickly attached the elongated barrel, anti-shock stabilizers, high powered scope. She snapped the power pack cartridge in and settled down into a prone position, aiming the rifle towards the square, the butt against her shoulder. She flipped up the sights and waited for her shot.

The TPC leader began his speech, extolling the difficulties that the people of Talus and Tralus had been suffering. The crowd was entranced, cheering at certain points. The dissenters were yelling and jeering, but the police held them back. Streen was standing just off the stage, watching the crowds carefully. Something didn't feel right, but he couldn't tell exactly. Just an odd feeling of unease. He mused on the subject, ending up thinking that it was just jitters on both sides. His students present were young and despite their training, he could feel little flares of anger whenever the speaker hit a particular anti-Jedi point that they didn't agree with.

"And that, my friends..." the speaker enunciated, "is why we must rise up! Why we must be strong in these dark times! Why our oppressors will never be able to break our spirit!" The loud roar almost concealed the loud sound of a blaster bolt firing...

"Son of a...!" Vaya grunted, shivers running up her arm. Not now! Why did the addiction have to hit now! She loocked over the edge of the building. "I missed!" The crowd was starting to panic, the TPC guards quickly moving to protect their leader. The Jedi began to fan out, looking for the source. She had maybe 20 seconds to finish this, but she couldn't do anything right now. Grunting, she reached into her bag and pulled yet another death stick out, popping the stopper and gulping the contents, then grabbing a second stick and taking that as well, just to be sure. The drugs coursed through her body, calming her nerves. She felt the world come a bit more into focus. At that point, one of the Jedi burst up on the roof. "Oh bugger!"

"You, stop! You're under arrest!" The young Jedi charged, drawing his saber. Vaya leaped to her feet and didn't even bother with the attacker, instead backflipping over the railing of the building. The poor Jedi looked dumbfounded as she reached for the wall, using the Force, her metal arm, and reinforced boots to slide down the wall. She landed in a roll, shoving her way through the crowd. Several people screamed and panicked, rushing to get out of her way. A Jedi and a few soldiers tried to block her, so she pulled her pistol. The two guards went down, the Jedi was able to block shots, but couldn't stop Vaya as she leapt in the air towards the stage...

Streen was trying to follow everything as the crowds ran around; it was pandemonium. The intruder had practically jumped off a building and was charging towards the stage rapidly. A Force-User, no doubt. But no lightsaber. The crowds were blocking his movements as the rogue Force-User moved past the guards in his path then jump. Streen expected a short hop onto the stage where the TPC leader (Streen assumed this was the target) was surrounded by his personal guard, but no. The intruder leapt fully in the air, flying upward, knees bent, as if he was a predator pounding on prey. The old Jedi Master could only watch in a mixture of horror and dread fascination as a green lightsaber blade seemed to extend right out of the palm of the attacker's extended left hand. Then the assailant landed on the TPC leader's chest, shoving the left hand forward in a palm strike to the neck. The immediate and familiar smell of cauterized flesh reached Streen's nostrils. Of course, with the lightsaber blade from the palm, Streen knew his protectorate was now dead.

Vaya landed with a hard thud on the now-dead corpse of her target. No one had come close to stopping her. It was a clean attack, not quite what she wanted, but it worked. She rose from the chest of her target and saw the few TPC guards stand in horror. Lifting her left hand, the blade stayed stuck in the ground, but the hilt slid out of the forearm cavity. She gripped the hilt and with a flourish whipped the blade from the stage - this had an added benefit of completely beheading the already dead leader. She glared at the guards. "Out of my way or you join him." They responded by pulling out their blasters. Vaya spun once, snapping her saber in a wide circle. As soon as she stopped, the four bodies of the guards joined their leader dead on the floor.

Streen witnessed the cold efficiency of the assassin as she took out the leader plus the guards. This is no ordinary assassin. He seems very familiar...

Tag: No one.

OOC: Meh, I could do better, but it's late.

IC as Talitha:

Usually rather good at keeping track of time, Talitha found it hard to track how long she had been in the brig. She assumed it had been no more than a matter of days or weeks but it felt like a year. She was bored, annoyed at herself, and to top it off, there was a patch of skin on her scalp that itched which she had no way of reaching thanks to the surgically attached lekku.

Pretty stupid thing to lie to Jedi... Should have known they would get suspicious. You know a lot of things that you seem to do anyway. You mean like the fact that accepting a job from scum like Kre'frey is a horrible idea even if it will pay well? Not to mention you admire the target for her amazing leadership abilities. I don't know how I am going to get out of this one... You could try talking your way out of it... or maybe see if you could join them Chamll. Sure Yazzie, like they would just let me join them after I admitted to being after an Outcast... doesn't matter that the one I picked to tell them is dead...

Chamllella made another mark on the wall to signify that time had passed, even if she was uncertain of how much time it had been.

You know what Yazzie? I think I'm gonna miss being Talitha. I've gotten used to being a Twi'lek.

Dinn smiled at Fera and nodded. "I'll tell him. If I can, I'll get him to send a message to you. I'm sure he'll be happy to know you're all ok." she half bowed to Lank's Aunt. "May the Force and Luck and everything else be with you all."

And with that, Dinn said goodbye. She felt bad that she couldn't do more for Lank's sister, but in light of their situation, she didn't want to get in the middle of more family than she had to.

It took her nearly ten minutes to find her way back to the hangar. When she finally got there, she saw Laine, Rhianon and Cyrus off to one side, while on the other, a strange man in standard Temple employee garb looked like he was picking his moment to approach. Dinn went to meet him, rather than disturb the conversation between ship's captain and it's new crew.

"About bloody time." Cyrus said, picking up his footlocker/lock box of kit. "How good are the communications on your ship, and can I send an encrypted message to your chancellor on it?"

"You're on our time here, thank you very much." Laine replied. "And we're going to wait to send messages after our second jump. You can discuss encryption with General Tsalisz when she shows up. We might be letting you come with us, but we aren't going to give you full rein yet. And you," Laine turned to Rhianon, who had so far stayed silent. "You must be the woman Torsy was talking about. I'm Laine Snowtrekker, nice to have you aboard."

Dinn approached with the group, medtech in tow.

"Laine, you want to open up? This guy is here to set things up for Nimaj. Cyrus, Rhianon, can I have a chat to you before we stow your things?"

Laine nodded, then motioned at the medtech to follow her into the ship. "So what do you need to do in here?"

"Okay you two, here's the deal." Dinn said, her voice remaining friendly. "I'm going to sweep you and your stuff for tracking devices. Before you even think of a protest, we don't trust anyone let alone an GAI soldier and a girl we don't know from spacedust. Don't take it personally. After we do that, get settled in the ship and don't touch anything unless you ask Laine first, got it?"

The Ossus Complex Medical Centre

In the 3rd bacta tank room, two medics began to prep the area to get Qatya out of the sticky smelly goop that healed so many of her injuries. Ten minutes later, they had her out and awake. They ushered her towards the showing area and then left the room to give her some privacy. Clothes had been provided by the Temple, should she want them. The possessions that had been on her when admitted were laid out on a small table.

After what seemed like an adequate time had passed, one of the techs returned, knocking politely.

"Excuse me, but if you're ready, we will escort you back to your ship. They are leaving immediately due to the terrorist attack made a few hours ago."

IC: Qatya, Ossus Complex Medical Centre:

The feeling of feeling trapped. The sound of water suppressed her hearing, faint voices lingering in the background. The woman couldn’t fully make out what they were saying. She strained to hear, yet it was to no avail. In and out she breathed through her breathing mask, and slowly but surely her nerves eased ever so slightly.

Within a short time she was out, eyes opened yet slightly blurry from remaining closed for so long, her hands gripped tightly upon the blanket that rested on her shoulders. It was cold, not to mention a small draft coming from somewhere. Qatya shivered slightly yet continued to move until she was left in the showing area with clothes laid out neatly. With a nod the medics left, offering privacy.

She glanced around for a short time blankly attempting to regain orientation with everything around her. Her own tribal clothing was laid out as well. Yet she reached for the pair of drawstring pants and stepped into them. A little big for her small frame, yet they would do. Next she reached for the tunic. Dropping the blanket from her shoulders she slipped her arms into the sleeves and let it fall down over her upper half. She then lifted her wet hair from underneath and let it drape upon her shoulders, which sopped the shirt a bit.

It was still cold. Glancing at her feet she wiggled them a bit on the bare floor, which it too was cold. Another shiver was sent up her spine. Qatya thought long and hard remembering all that had taken place. She took a step and winced. Stiffness was common after being in bacta for some time. General medical procedure was to have the patient go through physical therapy, yet she knew she wouldn’t have time. Speaking with Nimaj was of utmost importance.

Her thoughts were interrupted when the techs returned with a small knock upon the door. "Excuse me, but if you're ready, we will escort you back to your ship. They are leaving immediately due to the terrorist attack made a few hours ago."

Qatya’s eyes widened. ”Terrorist attack? When? How long was I in there for?” Many questions ran through her mind as they began to walk slowly down the long corridors, turning this way and that as they mad way to the docking bay.
