Giuseppe breathed deeply. So much depended on this! He remembered his father, back before the mask, when Giuseppe was young. Calm, prepared, ready. There had been many foreign dignitaries back then. He took another breath, and signaled Jerren to begin.

Towards the end of the meeting, which had taken far longer than any of those present had desired. Just before Jurrl could call the meeting to a close, Corla made a suggestion. "Maybe we should send some probes out to the nearby systems to find out exactly what they could offer us, before we decide on which others we should consider joining with? The planets of Cilpar, Abregado, Mrlsst, Giju, Ghorman and Kiffex are all relatively close, and seem as though they would be a good place to begin building an Empire. They would also help us fortify the position between us and Thyferra should they accept our offer. Just two of these worlds would grant us a line of support to them."

Jurrl considered, looking over at Narvin who merely nodded. Looking around at the others, they nodded in turn, even Ferdin. If even that tightwad thinks this is a worthwhile endeavor then we should indeed do so. Nodding himself, he said, "Make it so Corla. I would like these reports on my desk as soon as farfinly possible. Is this understood?" At the nods from the others, Jurrl rose and said, "Then this meeting is concluded. I have several other things that I need to take care of today." Rising he headed out of the room, headed for his personal chambers.

Sharpe was watching on as his guests prepared to reply to his question as to what they wanted with him, when his personal comlink beeped twice, indicating an incoming message. He raised it to his mouth and activated. "Yes?"

A man's voice came through. "This is Lieutenant Lodd from the Hall communications center. There is a priority message incoming from the Chiss Ascendancy; it's addressed to you, Grand Advisor."

Sharpe smirked, as it had to be coming from none other than Johan Gehlen, a recent acquaintance of his. "Thank you, lieutenant, please send it through."

Kian waited a moment while comms forwarded the message to his hand held comm.

Greetings. I hope that this message finds you in great health. You'll excuse me if this message is short, but there shall be time for pleasantries later. I wish to meet with you, all three of us, to discuss matters of great importance. What times and places work well for you? The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.

Excellent! he thought, excited to offer up his world as the site of their negotiations. Sharpe immediately dialed the return frequency and sent the response to Gehlen.

"President Gehlen, this is Sharpe. Indeed there is much to discuss, and I open my world and facilities to you and Miss Yubari for however long you would like to stay. I trust you will notify her of the plans? Do please arrive as early as is convenient; my comrades and I have many important plans to talk with you about."

He waited for Johan to respond, while keeping an ear open for whatever Nathan had to say as well.
