Voted.

I don't really have a probem w/ what I see in the RPF (aside from character and game based issues) Admittedly I'm not actually playing, and if DRL would let me, there would only be a few that I would (two I think).

Ultimately though, I've been "Outcast-ed" and have sold my soul to SECRETSISTER. So my vote may not mean much. tongue

And re. what Light said about stopping to have a barbecue, I loved Hammer's Christmas Ball, and I think we should have more things like that, or at least make that a regular thing.

Around the time of the Christmas Ball, I was reading Watchmen, and the side story about the Black Frigate got me planning an RPF Halloween Party, not sure of all the details yet (I've got time), but It could involve people sitting around a campfire telling SW-themed ghost stories, Trick-or-treating on Coruscant, perhaps travelling through a haunted tomb on Korriban, and just fun SW-themed Halloweeny things like that (heh heh... weenie)

I don't know how accurate the opinion is, but I tend to think the vast majority of RPFers don't tend to visit the RPR too often, thinking it's just a place for oldbies to hang out and discuss the boring behind the scenes stuff. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but if I'm right, I'm sure there's something that could be done about it, but I don't know what.

I love the RPF.

There's not much I'd change. LightWarden was spot on with his comments about bad RPing habits, there's not really much I can add on that score.

The only thing I'd really like to see: another multi-thread Star Wars epic. Nothing builds community like that. The veterans, the current stars, the up-and-comers and the complete newbies, all integrated together in one game, every one of them an important cog in a larger machine. That was one of the things I loved about IBoP, that everybody was having fun in the same enormous playground- from the lowliest padawan to the Emperor himself. You need most people to start at the bottom in a game of that size, but the system of promotion was so simple yet so rewarding: post often, post well, and soon enough you’ll have gone from training exercises on Yavin to dealing with galaxy-shaking events.

Mix it up a little, sure. Maybe set it in an unusual era. Off the top of my head, the early years of the Republic. All the usual factions are in a formative state- let the players shape them as they please. There are huge regions of the galaxy to be explored. We have the basic foundations for a SW gameworld in place, but with room to create and define as we go.

Is such a game likely? Well, I know we have enough talented players and enough talented GMs (if we could get everyone on board). What I don’t know is if we have the motivation or the commitment.

I'm new here, but I'm liking things so far. There was a comment earlier in this thread about new RPGers and lack of experience. I joined Sinrebirth's RPG and he attempted to put the really new RPG'ers together in their storyline. So we're part of the larger RPG, but still able to work and learn at our own pace without confusing the other RPGers.

I don't know if this would work for smaller RPG's though.

Welcome back Winged! I've missed your creative genius! happy

Well, there are characters in Legacy: Fools Gamble and the Turning Point RP that are the same. Similarly, characters are floating into my RP from the Galaxy At War Saga...and I'm even considering making a few tentative links to other RPs with their say.

Sure, they're set in different time-frames, but there is a loose multiple RP running, but being ran by the players rather than the GMs. I'm considering separating the Turning Point thread into multiple storylines after the 'Turning Point'. I've heard of how BoP was an impressive piece, and I hope, with the help of others, to expand the Turning Point into a larger-scale RP.

Is it not possible to somehow have a link to the thread stickied at the top of each RPF with an explation when you hover over/in the title or something similar?

As far as I know, we can't do hover text on these boards, except for the banners-- sometimes we put joke messages in them that can be viewed when you hover your mouse.

But is it possible to have the topic linked to through a post on the board - if that makes any sense. And Yarael Poof kicks ass!

I voted okay, but then again I really am only here for the Outcasts. They keep me busy enough, most attempts to branch out have met with failure.

I don't have any particular feelings towards the board itself. N00bs, sure I have problems with. Newbies are cool though. There's a world of difference between a newbie and a n00b.

Anyway, the RPF is just kind of running on it's own steam, IMHO.

I voted the place is ok.

I would just like to be able to edit my message when ever I need.

So RPGs move faster then others, and when I was in school I do a quick post just to keep up.

And when I got later my message would be crap, thats what I get for typing real fast, but it would of been nice to be able to go back and fix the post when ever I needed.

The only problem I have is finding a good rpg to get in, most of the good ones are already to far in for someone like myself to jump in, I try to find ones that were just started but they never really last. Other than trouble getting into a good rpg I think the board is fine.

Like others before me, I think it would be nice to be able to edit a post at any point. If there are problems with this though, than what about just extending the editing time limit?

One more thing: someone else mentioned how difficult it is for players to find good RPGs. I'm wondering if there is a way to mark RPs that have met a list of requirements? A mark like a star or arrow next to the link, perhaps?

Other than that, the forums are great. happy

The main problem I have with an unlimited Edit time, as a GM, is that it means players can change their post whenever, e.g.:

A typical RPG posted:
Player Post

I move my ships into a defensive formation around the planet

GM Post

Little did the fleet above know that there was a fleet of Star Destroyers just beyond the planets third moon, cloaked, and ready to attack.

Then the player goes back to edit their first post to something like this:

Player Post (Edited)

I move my ships into a defensive formation, but first I use my crystal grav trap to search for cloaked star destroyers behind the planets third moon, and i attack them

Okay I admit that is a bad example, but the point still stands, unlimited editing is likely to give the above situation.

Blade_of_Silver posted:

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that 90 mins is the biggest edit time available (except unlimited edits obviously)
