The (now brunette) agent sat up, looking faintly alarmed. "I'd like to register an official agreement with Carfax on this one." She paused and shot a glance his way. "Don't let it go to your head. Anyway, the idea of us all bringing weapons on...great novas, have you any idea what would happen if they caught us? Even one of us? One person slips up, everybody in their room'll probably be dropped on the next planetary stop, and not let back on."
She leaned back. "Anything goes on that ship, it has to look like something else. Random searches do occasionally foil major plans, after all. And there will be a lot of important people onboard. Security will be tight. Probably best to go for minor, innocent-looking stun weapons, if you must have something with you. Small things. The sort civilians, which we are supposed to be in the eyes of the company, would be allowed to own. The sort that don't look like weapons if you pull them out of your pocket."
She pushed a strand of hair out of her eyes. "Trust me on this one- I've a little experience in the matter. There are rich people there. They will be paranoid, and they will take things personally. If we get anything wrong, people will assume an assassination attempt and panic. The company will not want panics. Therefore they will be doing everything possible to ensure no one on board so much as stubs a toe." Having been raised a member of House Trebond, she was in a position to know the kind of security that was offered for the wealthy. "We. Need. To. Be. Careful."
Ruana smiled slightly, obviously aware of the irony. She, one of the more 'gung-ho' agents, emphasising caution this way. But someone had to do it; the others were getting a little too enthusiastic over the idea of concealed weapons. Best to slow things down, prevent some seriously exotic and dangerous ideas from making it into practice.

Markus was surprised to find himself vindicated by, of all people, Ruana 'gung-ho' Vendu-Trebond. Stent's support merely added to his astonishment; Carfax had previously assumed himself to be the sole voice of reason in an agency run by bean counters and meatheads. Maybe it was too soon to despair of the whole business after all.
"I would recommend leaving the weapons and gadgetry to Q'u branch." Carfax shot a look at Vendu, Solass and Halon. "They are the experts, after all."
With that, he decided to close the matter of weaponry before the more enthusiastic agents made some even wilder suggestions.
"With regards to our cover story, do we want to change it before the cruise? I know that me, Kannat, Girange, and Halon have this pimp-my-speeder business going on, but why are we sharing a room with the rest of you lot?"

"Our fellows, Agent Solass is to be a member of our little pimped-out speeder company, correct? And as for our couple, perhaps they are friends of Agent Girange's alias from school, former classmates? If we go down that route I hope we pick a consistent and uncomplicated history for those relationships."

The "travelling with friends" story would possibly be the easiest to maintain and explain on the cruise, and Boz nodded his agreement.
"Nice Stent. I was probably going to go with investors travelling, but friends makes more sense."
Boz walked round the main table, considering the other factors in their mission and whether there was anything else they needed to prepare for.
"As for your theory on smuggling Stent, how good are your hunches, do you really think this is something we will want to investigate? Discreetly of course. On one of these days that the possible smuggling takes place, Alecti Tyler could be locked in his room ill, and then I could take a look around in a different disguise. It's just a possibility, we might want to look into other factors before doing any in-depth investigations."
An idea came to Boz.
"Agent Carfax, um, Markus? I was wondering if you would be able to get a hold of a skematic of the ship, see if there's anything out of place, something that shouldn't be on a luxary cruise liner. The problem here is that we don't know what it is we need to be on the look out for so we need to be alert for pretty much anything."

"Well it's not like I can look up schematics of a mutlimillion credit luxury cruise liner on the ethernet." Markus replied caustically. The spell of competence apparently hadn't lasted long and now they were back to 'Markus, make your magic wishing box do what we want'.
"However, you are talking to the man who just infiltrated a remote bidding system and tricked it into giving us a room. So I'll see what I can do."

Nodding in agreement to his role in their 'pimped out' speeder company, as he replaced his knife in his boot. So far they seemed to be making progress, although he was admitably a little bit rusty when it came to uppercrust ideals and security. He was more used to the undercrust security around a Hutts belly, some other crime boss' idea of it, or the parinoid likes thereof.
Rolling his eyes at Carfax's turn from whining about their assumed request to bragging he leaned back, "How long?"

"How long until I can get extremely classified and well-protected schematics that no company would be stupid enough to put on the ethernet, entailing a visit to Kuat or wherever just so I can be on-site when security comes down on me like a ton of ferrocrete, or how long until I can give you the freely-available, what-they-want-you-to-see floor plans that you can pick up off their information site? The floor plans which, if your stellar agent skills have not failed you, Agent Solass, you will observe floating a couple of inches before your eyes as they have been doing ever since this meeting started."
He regarded Solass coldly. Ever since giving up t'bac he'd been much more irritable and unpleasant to his colleagues, and now Markus was debating how long it would take to ferret through Ryn's back history and send some pertinent facts to the Coruscant P.D, anonymously of course.

OOC: Markus isn't just being akward here. Well, he is a little bit, but getting the proper ship schematics really would entail a visit to the shipyards or the head office. Markus could probably do it, but I'm not sure we want that long a detour, folks.

"I think Markus has a point here," spoke up Stent. "It would be difficult and likely time consuming to get such information. Kuat does not make it easy to get proprietary information on their vessels. With our infiltration skills I would think that we would have a better chance obtaining such information while we were on board the ship instead of hacking away at firewalls and such."
Stent turned to Markus. "How about this, Markus? We do not have much to go on, so I am fixated on this Mr. Aves Harth figure. Supposedly he has been a small player in the cruise industry for a bit, preparing for a big bang such as this. I wonder about his history, his assets, his connections. I have this nagging feeling that something is not right with him, that he did not come out of nowhere on his own. Do you think it is worth your time and effort to start digging around in our databases and in the ethernet to find all you can about him? If not, I think I will have one of our resident slicers start the work."

Boz nodded, agreeing with Stent.
"Alright. That would be good to look into, if there's time of course. And Agent Carfax," He looked over at Markus with a slightly critical eye, "there was no to attack agent Solass in such a manner. I was not implying in any way that I thought gaining such intimate detail of the ship would be easy. I was actually attempting to show courtesy and place some faith in your skills. But the option of the skematic was a fault on my part, as Stent pointed out we don't have much time. So you did have a good point about the difficulty of gaining the information, but it would have done better to use a bit more tact in your reply."
Boz usually held himself up as a patient person, but other the past few days this Markus was really starting to push him again.
"Now, weapons will be handled by Q'u branch, no exceptions. Small handheld items that can blend in however, such as custom datapads, will be allowed. And the speeder company backstory can be fleshed out."
He held out his hands diplomaticly, if there was nothing else they could finish preparations.
"Anything else? Agent Solass? Agent...." it took a moment for Boz to recall her name, "Trebound?"

Markus couldn't believe that now he was being upbraided on etquiette, of all things. He wondered if it was too late to change his vote. Boz'rir was starting to get on his nerves, though to be honest by now the list of people that got on his nerves included most of the galaxy and some of the Unknown Regions as well.
"I'm sorry, Girange, I was under the impression that this was a secret spy organization." he snapped. "I am sure I'll try to use the utmost tact when I break into people's computers and steal all their information from now on."
The hacker would have used his cigarra for emphasis here, but of course he didn't have that luxury any more. Markus contented himself with slumping back into his chair and crossing in his arms in a manner intended to suggest that this meeting was a colossal waste of his valuable time.
"I'll get a request for information on Aves Harth to the MI5 info retrieval geeks and see what they come up with. Should take about a day."

Watching the unexpected reaction he waited as others moved in cautioning on travel/time restraints and etiquet. Personally he was starting to feel like he was in the room with an addict coming through a rough 'dry' patch. Personally he was having trouble keeping a straight face at the hackers reactions.
"A spy organization to be sure Mr. Carfax, but not all spys are the same. As you are evidenced to in our group, I for one have long worked the opposite end of the practice pole from this. Where such information could be bought or stolen much more easily from disatified, underappreciated employees, or just the plain greedy."
Mimicking Agent Carfax to an extent he leaned his head back some letting his body go loose.

OOGM: Well, I'd like to get out of here sooner or later, so if you're done sharpening your claws on each other, time to figure out if there's anything else you need to get done.
Standard procedure for background checks is that you call home and ask for information on any particular NPC. You cannot background check every NPC on the ship, so use this judiciously, and expect for there to be some delay based on the depth of the search. Of course, calling home can be a trick, since you guys will be away from the planet, and thus will need some sort of secure hypertransciever or Holonet connection, neither of which are readily available on account of the fact that HoloNet transceivers are usually installed on capital ships, and while hypertransceivers are smaller, they sure aren't pocket-sized.
In regards to gadgetry, I'm not going to just start handing things out, because either I'd be giving you things I know you'd use, or I'd be tempted to screw with you guys and give you things that I know you probably won't use. So instead, just contact the Quartermaster and try to figure out what sort of stuff best suits your needs and abilities. This also allows me to prevent things from becoming completely ridiculous with people trying to do things such as bring this aboard. I speak from experience on this one.
Also, it may help if you guys figure out as many issues or problems as you can think of, since you can then try to think of ways to handle them. Despite how obvious you think something may be, that's no guarantee that everyone else has thought of it.

With the meeting degenerating back into petty bickering, it looked to Halon as if it was about time to call it quits. He'd felt the mission bug bite him and was now looking forward to being out in the field again. Out where he belonged.
"Well then..." Halon pushed himself off the wall, clasping his gloved hands together in front of him. "If that is all...I am sure we all have preparations we must see to."
He turned to exit the room, making his way to the nearest turbolift and, from there, to the fabled Q'u branch labs.

I was thinking - we need to get the concealed weaponry dealt with. Perhaps having one that one good with weapons be the one to talk to Q'u branch about the need for such. Would you be able to do that for the team? As I think we agreed to, we would only need concealed blasters for those that were capable, I think that is you, Solass Ruana, and Vendu, if I am not mistaken? And then a tranquilizing dart or knife of some sort for all. What do you think?"

Halon stopped in the doorway to listen to the Zeltron, then nodded his consent. "Very well. In the meantime, you lot," he motioned to Boz'rir and Markus, "can work on the outstanding plot holes in your speeder story."
Halon didn't much care what cover the others eventually settled on; in fact, better he not know. Plausible deniability.
The Ubese agent again turned to leave. "You can reach me on the usual com frequency," Halon called over his shoulder before he disappeared down a corridor.
