Markus Carfax as Andriy Hunt
Empyreal Casino Restaurant
"You are both missing one very important point." Markus reminded his colleagues, his voice coloured by obvious impatience. "We actually have very little of value to this third party. We can identify our rivals, but we cannot pin down their exact affiliation. All we have is a name and a suspicion. This will make a paltry trade."
He looked around at the table.
"Do not get too excited about the deals on offer before you check your account. It's basic finance."

IC: Boz Girange as Alecti Tyler
"When did you become the expert accountant then?" He said. It was a bad attempt at a joke, but this mood needed lifting somewhat.
"Right so we don't have anything of value for him, nor to we fully know our friend's identity. What would a man like this see as fair trade?" He leaned back in his chair. This entire situation was one big headache. They needed to get something to trade for information.
"The best trade for information is, well, information." He thought aloud, "but we have no information to give him."

IC: Halon,
Turbolift Banks
"Nexus can be trusted as long as his contract holds. He will have no misgivings about selling you to the highest bidder the minute your business with him ends- and it is unlikely that he knows as little about you as you do about him, Halon."
Though he'd spun around to face him, Mors' voice was still coming from behind Halon.
Impressive trick
, the Ubese thought to himself, taking a few steps backward until the wall was at his back.
<"Terminate record. Activate infrared.">
He had hoped to have something for the team's resident Lorrdian to digest, but no matter; time was quickly wasting away and Halon needed to get to the point.
"At this juncture, that seems quite likely. Right now, though, his interest lies squarely with
you.
So we want you to give us something we can barter with, Mors. Something harmless to yourself; even disinformation. As long as it can be verified, we have an opportunity to string your little enigma along."

Backing up towards the wall, Halon switched his visor to the infrared part of the spectrum, hoping to spot Kaleb Mors.
He saw nothing but the people heading to and from the turbolifts. But lacking the time for niceties, he made his proposal.
"At this juncture, that seems quite likely. Right now, though, his interest lies squarely with
you.
So we want you to give us something we can barter with, Mors. Something harmless to yourself; even disinformation. As long as it can be verified, we have an opportunity to string your little enigma along."
Again, Mors was whispering behind him.
"You are quite the fool today, are you not? If you are still laboring under the assumptions that we hold any desire to aid you, I shall need to correct that error of judgment. As you have
just demonstrated,
your organization has a tendency to boldly dive into precarious situations. It is not in our best interest to tie our fates to yours on the slim chance you might be able to deepen your professional relationship with an underworld broker. Rather, I should attempt to sever any connections to your childish expedition in order to ensure that when you inevitably falter, you'll only compromise one organization's security."

Halon dipped a hand into his cloak as Mors continued on, retrieving a datapad.
"Spare me the hysterics, Mors. We do not ask anything of you that could possibly jeopardize your mission and would never expect you to assist us solely out of the remnant of any goodness that may lurk in your heart. But even someone as high-handed as yourself should be able to see the wisdom of tapping into
this
conduit. If Nexus is coming after you, we will be the only source of warning you are liable to get."
Halon fiddled with the special Q'u Branch Surveillance Detection and Countermeasures datapad before looking up again, trying to determine if there were any unusual transmissions in the vicinity.
"You came to me for a reason, after all."

Reaching around inside his cloak, Halon realized that he didn't actually have the Surveillance Detection & Countermeasures Datapad provided by Q Branch. In fact, it was hard to say if he'd even ever held it. The datapad was in the hands of Markus Carfax, and given that Halon had practically threatened the agent earlier, it was unlikely that the borderline-misanthropic slicer would be particularly inclined to share.
"Do not assume that my presence lends credit to your value, I merely chose to measure the breadth of the chasm between our abilities. I do not fear the machinations of a slicer with delusions of respectability- I have more important things to concern myself with. He has nothing on me, and you have little more than an empty alias. I hope this little exercise has demonstrated that I am only found when I wish to be. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for an agent such as yourself."

Stent Kannat
Empyreal Casino Restaurant
"I realize that we have very little right now to make someone interested in our offer," he replied to Boz and Carfax, "but I guess I am thinking ahead.
When
we do obtain more, at least enough to make someone interested in our offer, how should we proceed? I think you may agree with me that we should not do anything until we are entirely sure of our situation, or at least have a more solid idea of the stances of the interested parties."

OOC: Oh yeah, I'd like to have Stent leave that computer case in the room. Not necessarily something you'd take to dinner with you.

"I say that we refuse the offer." Markus said decidedly. "All factors considered, we cannot risk involving an outside contractor at this time. We have enough trouble controlling our own agents. This third party has nobody to vouch for him and we have no reason to trust him beyond the limits of his contract. And in this situation, trust is everything."
He leaned back and folded his arms, the conversation already over in his opinion.
"Stent, if you value this enterprise you will not answer that comm."

The comlink was pulsing again. Time was up. Nexus was waiting.

Ok, inventory adjusted accordingly.

Halon reached over to the turbolift panel and pressed a button to summon a car.
"I have said my piece, Mors," he began resignedly. "Clearly, you have already made your choice. You will regret it."
He opened up his comlink again, to try to reach the others. He had no idea what they might have been up to.
"Have you left the restaurant yet?"

Stent Kannat
Empyreal Casino Restaurant
Finally, Stent heard a response from one of his colleagues that echoed what he wanted to say. He began to dwell on what he had done: It was he that picked up the comm back on Corellia. He knew what he was doing, gathering information from sources that seemed promising at least at the time. He found himself beginning to regret picking up the comm, not knowing if he had endangered themselves or not.
As for answering the comm or not, Stent thought that it did not matter what he did. Nexus was watching them either way. Perhaps being polite would stave off any ensuing wrath.
Stent picked up the pulsing comm and coolly answered.
"We have decided that, at this time, we do not want to initiate a transaction."
Just as he said that, he heard Halon's query. "Someone answer him."

Nodding to Stent he activated his comm quickly and quietly talking hoping Nexus wouldn't over hear, "What took so long? Just hurry-up and spill or get back here, Stent's currently giving his not interested in any transaction speech."

Halon did most definitely not like the sound of that, but there was little he could do. Not here, not now.
There was a

sound as the latest turbolift arrived at the level and opened its doors, expelling passengers.
"Nothing much to 'spill', unfortunately," he said, stepping into the car. "I will see you back at the suite."

Returning to the suite without the aid of a locator was certainly easier said than done. Still, an Ubese Warrior is never lost (or at the very least, he never admits it), and Halon was able to find the room again.
Empyreal Casino Restaurant
"We have decided that, at this time, we do not want to initiate a transaction."
"
Pity.
"
With that, the conversation was concluded.
Dinner was served, and with it, the underlying question: what now? Between Mors' antagonism and the information broker's shiftiness, the agents weren't much closer to unraveling the mystery than they were at the start of the evening. Both contacts insinuated that there was a conspiracy, though they were clearly operating from separate angles. But... what was going on and who was at the center of it?
At present, there wasn't much to go on. They could explore the restaurant and casino some more, but without an adequate plan of attack it would likely result in another dead end. Alternatively, the vessel would be headed for Spira within a few hours, and turning in early would allow them the most time to deal with the planet. Assuming, of course, that they had any ideas by the time they got there. If not, well... there were beaches, right?

Stent finished his dinner without taking notice, his thoughts preoccupied on the seeming dead-end that they currently found themselves at. Mors was certainly an interesting character, not to mention Nexus as well. And the individual that they pursued into the Pit on Corellia, and the fact that CorSec was making the ship off-limits.
Would someone turn the light on? Preferably, one of the agents, of course. To have their quarry do so would be fine and all until it became apparent that they turned the light to get a better view to a kill.
The zeltron stood up from the table. "Well, perhaps we should return to our room? I think we could benefit from doing some competitor research. At least I think Mr. Hunt and I could conduct that if no one else wishes to do that."
