Ratep Sentarin, 124 ABY
alley, Travnin

Ratep was thrilled at the sight of the witch being thrown to the ground and hearing her scream. It worked! The pain from his recent injuries was bearable, and he even felt stronger in the Force. You're tougher than you thought, Sentarin! He immediately went back into a guard stance, and despite the pleasure of the small victory his face was still stern. He watched her intently as she quickly got back up and began her rant.

"There is darkness in you, Sentarin. Hide it as deep as you want, there is a lot darkness in you. That is why you´ll never defeat darkness."

Whatever.

"Looks like we are going to do this the old fashioned way, hm? Duel. And only if you wondered . . . your apprentice gets killed as we speak."

The Jedi knight gripped his hilt tighter in anger. Hespar. If she did anything to him...

She screamed and charged at him with her force pike, but Ratep stood still, watching the pike bob in her hands, watching her arms and feet, all in the effort to anticipate her next move. With that pike, she needed distance, so he was going to have to take that away from here by either fighting close or eliminating the pike. Ratep gave the witch the benefit of the doubt that her pike would likely withstand a blow from his lightsaber. He would attempt an upwards swing to knock her arms and her weapon above her chest, exposing her torso and making it the prime target. Standing his ground, his orange saber humming in both hands, he waited for the last moment.

Then it came. Right when her pike came within striking range, Ratep slid to his left and moved his extended arms down. Twisting his wrists, his saber now pointed downwards to the left, he made a full swing upwards directly into the pike in between the witch's hands. The saber's blade was still pointing downwards, and he quickly stabbed back down at her torso.

U'tek
sewer, Pergitor

It became apparent rather quickly that this man was a fanatic and would be difficult to reason with. U'tek grimaced at the mention of the Vulture. Who the kark was this Vulture? He wanted Romar... dammit. That's how they knew who he was. If he had the chance after this, going after the Vulture's men or perhaps the Vulture himself would be a pleasurable hunt...

What? Karideph?! U'tek's eyes widened with rage at Lornok's declaration of the atrocities recently committed there and above. This church is a doomsday cult. They had no right to exist.

U'tek shoved the struggling Lornok hard against the wall, and in a display of uncontainable anger he raised his right arm, claws extended, and struck at Lornok's face, leaving behind superficial but bloody slashes. U'tek was a solider and never an interrogator, but after hearing the man's fanatical rant he didn't even think an interrogator would be able to get through to him. He pointed a bloody claw into the high priest's face.

"Where do you keep them," he roared, his fangs now bared. "Where are the insects kept?! Where is the next target?!"

Hespar Kessler, 124 ABY
Cantina, Travnin

He looked up at the taller Imperial Knight. He seemed nice enough and he had saved his life. "I don´t know." He said, deciding to tell the truth. "The plan was he would have done your job, so I guess they must have distracted him." Looking around in the demolished cantina he sighed. "I need to find him. The Master killed here last week, he was after something. Something important enough to leave his apprentice in the brink of knighthood alone. And it has something to do with miners." Hespar looked up, if there was any reaction from the Imperial Knight.

"I don´t want to have my families blood on my hands!"

"Just have someone do it for you," Selpha hissed, her own weapons at the ready. "Would be much easier to just push me into a pit of Xenly and let them do it for you like you're going to do to Mandalore wouldn't it?"

Selpha struck as Cley came forward. Instead of striking with one of her blades, the Mandalorian swung her Iviin at him which was clutched in her left hand. She wasn't worried about damaging it - it was made of beskar afterall - instead she was swinging it to knock his one blade aside and leave him exposed for the elbow blade that would then come across and hopefully score a hit through one of the openings within his armor. Her wrist blade on her right arm was poised, ready to press the attack or block if Cley managed to recover.

Karideph, Streets

"He returns!" "Dammit!" "Fire!"

The instinct to grab his lightsaber and put it to use came to Tenk's mind but the former Jedi hardly even twitched to grab it, seeming to not even desire saving his own life. There was only grief at the loss of his wife. What was the point of going on without her?

He had been hoping, when they fired their weapons, that he was going to join Talia as well.

He was disappointed a moment later when he dropped to the ground and only became unconscious instead.

Melmot
Karideph

Their blades collided and Melmot screamed out into her face, as he drew nearer to her. She stayed calm. Remarkable calm. Annoying calm. Unnerving calm. Pushing her away on the still steady hoovering dropship they were fighting on the unleashed a whole series of attacks. Drawing on the dark side as much power as he could. Not regret, no doubt. Only anger.

Xenly´s anger.

Burning inside of him, he felt his muscles becoming more tense, his power unlimited as his next attack rained down on Romar with inhuman speed. The Jedi stood her ground. Against any reason and estimation she did not even despair under the onslaught. Her power burning in the force. While Melmot´s Xenly infused anger burned especially one thing. Him. His body, his very soul ached under his devotion to the alien darkness. His red blade an embodiment of rage.

"I don´t want to kill you, Quin!" Romar shouted and jumped up. His slash at her legs was blocked in air and she sat down on the other side of the dropship, extending her hand. He sent his own wave of energy just in time, before hers hit him. A few steps ground he lost, anyway. Now his left feed dangerous close to the humming thrusters.
"But you need to die, Romar. He wants you. He only wants you. All his existence is concentrating on YOU!" He leaped towards her, again. But with a speed even his heightened perception could hardly perceive she leaped at him even faster. Her elbow hit his shattered remains of his nose. Screaming his stabbed and felt her parry and riposte, cutting into his shoulder. In rage he slashed out. At her legs. While going to his knees. She was in the air, already and set down behind him. Rolling forward, his view twisted by tears of pain, he escaped her deadly strike at his neck.

"Melmot, I can stop him. If you help me, I can . . .!"
He came to his feet and attacked her again. She waited for his blade and countered aggressively.
"You can´t!" Gasping he withdrew. Through the illumination of the two blades he saw Kira´s face. She suffered. He could see it. "Where is he, Melmot? I need to find him before it is too late." She hissed and their blades parted. He wouldn´t tell her. Never.

Another violent flash of their lightsabers. "Why, so you can run to him? And he does not need to hunt you down? Run, Romar. Or die. Your confidence betrays you. Your force does! He won´t fail. But don´t let him . . ." This time she attacked. Swift strikes at his vital parts. Despite talking, she did not fight to capture him. Or if she did, he did not wanted to see her go for a kill.

Another attack of hers. Her blade was now circling from above his head. Covering him with quick strikes. Just as he regains his defense she send him to the ground. The rage . . . the rage of Xenly made him leap up immediately. And Kira Romar´s blade pierced through his chest, as he threw himself into it.

His eyes widened, he felt his lightsaber fall out of his hand. He hadn´t felt it coming. Not even a slight premonition in the force. With a smile he understood. "Tell me where he is." Kira said, almost begging. He looked up. "Now I see why . . . he wants you." He coughed blood but forced himself to his feet. His hand reached for the lightsaber lying next to him, but it did not move. The force was vanishing. The poison in his blood returned.

Looking up at her he sighed. And blood between his teeth now. "Tell me." She demanded again.

Melmot shook his head. He wouldn´t give her to Hoole. Never. "Guess you won´t give me a warrior´s death hm?" He asked her, his eyelids become heavy. Looking over his shoulder, behind him the depth of Karideph, he felt the wind. And Xenly. Down there. A million Xenly. They called him.

"No." She said and her lightblade died down.

"Don´t do it, Kira. Your force deceives you. He had it all planned. From the very beginning. Perhaps from your birth on."
Melmot said to her and coughed again. "And he has nothing more to loose." he added then. "Like me." And with that he spread-ed his arms and allowed his body to fall backwards.

"Nooooo!" Kira shouted and grabbed for him, in a last desperate attempt he waved his hand and she was slowed in her leap to save him.

Melmot was falling down 33 Levels towards the infinite masses of Xenly.

And Hoole´s laughter was somewhere in his mind.

A long fall.

And . . .

Darkness.

And this is my final post . . . I wanted to wish you all best luck for the approaching finale and I am sure a few twists and turns are yet to come. I loved this game. It was my pleasure to part-take. In itself it was very thrilling and well-paced, but the tapestry that it build - the background you brought into this game and integrated into the characters . . . wonderful. Robert would be very proud of you, Fin!
I would have loved to see it´s conclusion and solve the mysteries it had brought to my life. I´ll read it for sure.
Thanks for having me in it, Fin. Thanks for all of you who played with me.

I wish an amazing finale to you all!

And I hope after 15 long years . . . someone finally kills Hoole!

In that spirit . . . Bye! peace

Shaper Laaxtiin Kiar
Kerideph, Museum Rooftop

Seeing Melmot leap he finished with Uhl’s tending as best he could before he patted him on the shoulder, “When able prepare yourself for battle in earnest.”

Rising he hurried to the edge and looked down upon the battle between Melmot and whom he assumed was Romar from Melmot’s scream and the blade she held in her hand. It was a glorious battle to behold, and for a moment, as he watched in wonder as they battled atop the forward portion of a drop ship, he found himself wondering if this was how the god’s viewed the mortal plane of things. If so then not meddling quickly showed why they were less inclined to intervene to his mind, so long as they guided to the correct ending the events, it was marvelous simply to watch the show.

The end of the battle was shocking he felt slightly grieved that he had not been able to hold to the plan, but that was on Melmot for going where he could not follow. Raising his hand he found a razor-bug already in his grasp, but the conflict was raised anew that he had since first hearing this plan. For if he killed Romar now…he would be killing a Jedi that could not take the life of a sith that had been trying to kill her and instead merely wanted Hoole dead. If killed Hoole was denied his attempt at ultimate control, but then what chance did they have to kill Hoole or the Prophetess? Would merely the galaxy be saved with Yuuzhan-Vong and so many worlds sacrificed to die by the hands of these terrors, as the best chance for balance and order of any kind of Yarong died with Romar…a Jedi.

In the end the decision was made before Melmot’s body hit the Yarong far below and the razor-bug flew through the air, and then a second on the first’s wind trails.

Flying unerringly with such speed and accuracy it was doubtful that even if cut by a blade the two halves of either whole would not still find place to perch inside flesh and bone, and so they did…

The death was painful but quiet ultimately as the body slumped forward hand grasping futilely at it’s chest before succumbing to death, first one then the other. He knew they would extricate themselves and return to him so he merely stood there staring down at what would unfold as he gave a salute with his amphistaff to the fallen Melmot and to Romar. Even if Melmot could not die properly he still deserved this small honor to him, as a friend.

Romar who was now on top of a landing ship that would soon land without the aid of pilots at the helm, let this be her test from him, read it as she may. For they were felled through their shattered windows, which was a fitting beginning to the end of his decision, may it so end as he prayed. In the end…the truth unbearable as it was was that he was sparing her because of those two who had helped before, because of what he learned of Jedi while stuck with those two Jedi, a Master and a Knight for times long passed. If she was of their muster, their innate honor as flawed as it may be, then she yet might win this day in a way that Melmot never could believe her able.

So with silent prayer hissed through ragged lips he left the result to the god’s of whom he beseeched for the first time in their entirety from death to life, from cradle to grave, from time to age, and from high to low.

ooc: A greeting from Draco. he is shipping today 1700. I read Kiar´s post to him on the phone and he loved it. He actually dictated a short "outro" to add reflecting on the razor-bug death . . . one I think that underlines once more, why he was voted for as the most improved player.

. . .and see Fin! I made it before you updated!

for Draco . . .

Melmot
Falling . . .

Darkness . . .

And in the Darkness a pain. A pure pain. One free of rage and anger. Free of Xenly.

He felt his last heart-beat not completing it task. . .

Felt his senses vanish into the void.

No screaming void was awaiting. Only the void.

The Xenly would not get him. Who killed him? The Vong? Romar?

I did not matter. It was better than honor. Better than mercy.

It was victory.

Xenly wouldn´t have him.

Small victories.

And Melmot vanished in the force . . .

Kira Kara Romar
Karideph, On top of a damaged dropship

She saw the death of Quin. Melmot. The flash of pain in the force and the feeling of relief in him.

How will you die?

A good question. She had an answer.

In a corridor, shot. Visions have a cruel way of answering such questions.

The knowledge hurt. The expectation made every death on the way even more unbearable. All that seemed to be left of her was concern, worry, pain. When had she last felt lucky? When had she last felt free? Or save?

In the child-care on Yelsain.

She smiled. She and Jaleb had planned ot have children. Death had taken that from her, too.

The body of her fallen enemy hit the ground and was drowned by the masses of Xenly crawling down there.

Quin Vos
had come a long way. He had been a defender of Kiffu, a friend of a Jedi, a Sith. And in the end and in the dark ways his life had been drowned in he had even been a . . . hero. A hero . . . in his own dark ways. Much like you, Kira.

Yes, much like her. So many died. So many were sacrificed in this crusade of the force. Send to random acts of resistance to what seemed to be a most organized appearance of the Dark Side. The Rise of Xenly.

Looking up at the killer she saw a Yuuzhan Vong warrior greeting her with his Amphistaff. A Vong? Here? She had fought for them, but couldn´t remember to have ever met one. They had been the race they had defended against the Empire. They had been who they had fought for. A righteous act, she had thought back then. Probably the price had been too high.

Saluting back with her lightsaber she turned to the cockpit and pressed the auto-land button in the cockpit, bringing it from hoovering mode to land upon the roof.

Xenly was everywhere now. But he pressed not too much into her mind. Not the pressure she felt from everybody else?

Why?

Something was wrong. As it was meant to be wrong. In all this death and violence . . . in this hunt, this treachery and betrayal . . . there was a secret. One which did not reveal itself. Something that was even darker and greater than she had thought.

Kira Kara Romar, unknowing descendant of Siri Romar, student of Master Lowbacca, killer of Darth Zorn, the Reaper of Roon, the Slayer of Sith, friend of Simeon Ternor, Tahnan, Cade and so many others. Jedi Knight, Wife, Farmgirl, Refugee, Fugitive, Murder, Tainted One, bruised and captured, damned by the force itself into an endless series of conflicts against the dark side, given up, wishing to die, only to die and follow her dead love, unfree, enslaved by destiny and drowned in unknown purpose . . . had the feeling she had to be here. She was where she was meant to be.

Fate had finally catched up. As she had known it eventually would.

She did not wait for her ship to land, but leaped up the remaining twenty meters and landed right behind the Yuuzhan Vong.

The force was still burning inside of her. It was almost . . . too much.

What is happening to me?

Her mind tried to focus ion the dangers at hand. Xenly would soon find his way up again. She felt him probing. Searching. Hunger.

Turning slowly, realizing Selpha wasn´t yet up here, she looked at the Yuuzhan Vong and his second counter-part. Sitting next to the ship.

"My name is Kira Kara Romar. I am a . . . " She hesitated a second, then with a bitter smile she continued. " . . . a Jedi Knight. You were a friend of Quin Vos?" She asked and nodded to the roof-edge. She knew Vong well enough to understand that the act of killing the doomed young Sith hadn´t been an act of murder or hostility, but rather respect.

Staring at the much taller man before her, her lightsaber deactivated. The Vong had a perfect opening to kill her and hadn´t used it.

And who could stop you now, anyway, Kira, hm? Darth Zorn was still whispering in her head.

ooc: I am duelling this week in the RPF vs. EUC tournament. So, I´ll try to get an update up, but it might take some of my time-resources to represent you guys. Sorry for that in advance.

We lost one of our best players with Draco, who has brought two characters to this game. Both of them now lost. And I hope he returns safely to us. My admiration for that he has given this game despise knowing he would not see it´s conclusion. Your love for 133 ABY is much appreciated, my friend.

But here is an update!

Music - Lornok

Lornok laughed out. "Where is the next target? How about the galaxy? How about every planet we can reach? How about here?" He laughed on. His arm-wrist made a sound and a voice reported. "We have the Jedi. On our way to the Infinity!" Lornok grinned. Not attempting to speak to the arm-wrist, aware the two men would kill him. "And I won´t tell you where they are coming from. So go ahead and fight them. Again and again and again. In the end you and your Master´s will die. Like this Jedi we just captured. The Jedi you bow before!" He hissed. "You all are going to answer for your crimes. Xenly is devouring you. One world at a time!" He laughed again. Now madness in the eyes that had been calm a moment before.

Music - Xenly Approaching

Shaper Uhl came up, slowly. His side hurting. He looked only at Romar and Kiar. Who stood at the edge of the roof. And they all felt the shift in the noise level. The Xenly had found a way to the outside of the building and were crawling up the walls. Many fell to death, but even more poured into the building. The natural barrier the collapse had build was gone, again.

Soon they would be here.

Approaching

Music - Approahcing Xenly

"It looks bad, Colonel. Really bad!" Keean shouted and his men prepared. They had made their way through the giant convoy of waiting ships above the planet. Had passed the ongoing battle for the HSS in save distance. But as they approached the planet and their sensors caught explosions , they also caught data of streams of Xenly. Hundreds of thousands. Floating towards on building.

To nobodies surprise that had been where they located several human and near-human life signatures. Only there.

"We got at least a hundred thousands within´the building. Substantial structural damage and a whole army of unknown soldiers laying siege to it. Two dropships and three fighters guarding it." Keean reported. "We will have to fight our way in!"

Level-34

Music - Duel

Cley Nephrite saw her attack with the gun coming. It got is blade, ugt he had used the weapon to long to loose his balance or rhythm. When the second blade came, his own second was there to block it. Making use of his greater physical strength he pushed Selpha away a bit and suddenly her legs were gone. Kicked away beneath her body by Cley. She smashed on the ground and dodged just in time for both of the others blades to slice through the floor.

"You have no idea what I had to sacrifice so you and your families could play New Mandalore!" He hissed. Letting Selpha return to her feet. "My honor, my conscience, my people, my men, my own daughter!" He whirled around and a second attack rained down on Selpha, both swords whirling in blinding speed. "ALL FOR YOU! and your petty society! All for you, who claimed to be my people! And now YOU try to KILL ME!"

"Let´s go?" Si heard the mocking voice behind him. It was almost to well known. Major Vur stepped out of the dark. His massive Chistori head half eaten away by the felsh-eating torture bugs. "Where do you wanna go, bug? There is no exit? No escape? Only bugs!" He spitted and fluids dripped from his mouth.

"He is real, by the way." The Professor whispered with a trembling voice.

"To the guns." He commanded as he strung his rifle over his shoulder. "Gunners...Make entrance." The transport door opened and Lorj pointed his rifle, along with others of the marines, and began firing at the transports and starfighters. He used his sniper rifle to place a well aimed shot through the cockpit window of a starfighter. Keanne equipped himself with a missile launcher and destroyed a starfighter and fired on a dropship.

The gunners laid firepower on the ground, destroying approaching xenly, but the holes in the crowd would quickly be replaced. Keanne fired another missile towards the other dropship. Lorj raised his rifle and fired rounds on the last starfighter. They needed to get inside fast.

Selpha's blades clashed against Cley's before she was pushed back and then knocked down entirely as her relative pressed his assault. Fortunately, she was able to roll to the side and the blades that Cley had wanted to impale her with only scratched the museum floor.

This wasn't wholly unexpected; Cley was not only a Mandalorian but a Nephrite that had a few years of both age and experience over Selpha. She was expecting a fight, and possibly one that Cley would prove to be the better in. But was that going to stop her from slitting his throat? No.

"You have no idea what I had to sacrifice so you and your families could play New Mandalore!"

The words that Cley spat out next only further heightened Selpha's desire to see her family member dead.

"You're a fool!" Selpha spat out in reply, her weapons at the ready. "You don't understand at all at what kind of alliance you have! Do you not see the Xenly? Do you not understand at what Hoole wants in this universe? Do you even understand what you had done when you gave up Azura to him?"

That, that was what caused the rage to well up within Selpha once again, her vision slowly going back to the telltale red. Azura Nephrite. When she had heard, when she had discovered what had happened to her, she understood, truly understood what had happened to Azura. What happened to her...was what would've happened to Selpha had she not been spared from it; if her father had not been killed and her mother saved.

"You're just like him!" Selpha shouted, shaking with rage, not caring if Cley knew who she was referring to. "And just like him, you're going to die!"

And Selpha charged again, letting out a roar of her own as she struck, swinging her weapons this way and that, not caring where she hit as long as she did hit and have her just-made promise come true.

His lips curled back in return to this woman's identifying herself, "We were friends of Melmot. Yes."

He could hear them now, the Yarong, they clatter and chitter as they skittered up the walls of the building raising their voices ever louder as they drew closer. "He said we should kill you for you have the sole possibility of gaining control of Yarong, or Xien-ly as you call them. Born of a Jedai Verpine that turned to a Siath, they are his replicating drones that survived him, live by his last simple command to spread and live off of the energy of hate. If you can control them and bring a new mutation, give them a new none destructive or selfdestructive goal, or change them to feed off and perpetuate a different emotional response...and not loose yourself...we might have a chance to kill Hoole and the Prophetess, minions with minor control of small numbers and end this apocolypse here before it spreads." He spoke quickly and with slight pains for he knew that she needed to know these things if she was to help, and what was always shadowed almost looming over what would be.

He felt a drive of emotions in him, his heart racing, his blood thrumming as the pitch continued to rise and explosions now filled the air, "What say you Romar? You are our only hope."

Technically a stretch but true enough in its own way. Only time would tell whether he had fated them to death or life, whether or not he had fated them all.

Si Kya turned to the voice, and saw Major Vur. Somewhere in his aching, pained mind, Si laughed, and he did so, aloud. The Professor looked at him, as if he'd lost his marbles. He probably had, to be fair. Si clapped his hands, wincing at the pain, but not too much.

"I'm not surprised to see you, at all, torturer." Si waved his hands, demonstrating the misshapen lump of a hand, and then the burns on the other. Si tugged his shirt over his head and off his chest, to show the Chistori the scars he still had. "Not content with what you did to me?"

Si wasn't afraid anymore.

He had, after a fashion, gone beyond fear.

"All you can do is hurt me. I already hurt. My family are dead. I'm going to die. We're all going to die, at some point." Si twitched. He idly looked around the room, backing away from Vur. "What can you do to me?"

Si didn't recognise the room, anymore. He needed to remember where he was.

A little voice of hope trickled inside him.

Kira will save us.

Me?

Us?

Who?

U'tek
sewer, Pergitor

"I don't know," growled back U'tek, now his right hand gripping the man's neck. "How about here? You're gonna ravage your own homeworld, are you?"

U'tek realized that he probably wasn't going to find out who the leader was in all of this, at least not from Lornok. The cathar ripped off the wrist comm from the man and stared at it. They had Jedi Qatar. Kriff.

He looked up at Glave and tossed the comm to him. "Does it have a map or anything like that on it? A homing beacon? Something that will get us to them." He wasn't concerned about the church soldiers finding them; rather, he was more interested in seeing if they could be guided to them and get to Qatar.

He focused his attention back on Lornok. The "infinity." That must be a ship. If this madman was telling the truth about wiping out Pergitor, U'tek had every intention of being near a ship that would get him out of there. He let his claws begin to extend, applying more pressure into the man's neck. "Tell me where the Infinity is."

Very little was holding back the cathar from ripping the man's throat off.

Kira Kara Romar
Karideph, Roof

She stared at the Yuuzhan Vong. He talked fast and what he said did not make a lot sense to her. But she could clearly see he was desperate. As desperate as she was.

"What say you Romar? You are our only hope." The man added. And she felt the heaviness of that statement almost kill her.

Their only hope. And all you can promise that you will die, Kira.

"I . . . I . . ." She paused. Darth Zorn´s voice still ringing in her head. The force burning from the power of Xenly.

Soon, Kira. Soon you will understand. And as always much to late. You know that, don´t you?

She shook her head. Reached out to Xenly, but did not dare to touch the cold presence. Which seemed so hostile. Such a powerful influence on all others, except her. But there was no connection. No way to reach them.

"I cannot control them. I am sorry. I have no influence over them. But I . . ."

. . . will try?

"I will stop them." She simply said. That was all she could claim to do. She had no idea how, yet. But she would stop them.

ooc: For reasons unknown I can´t post anything longer right now. I´ll try to edit my post into this message now. Otherwise Ratep, Hespar and all Hoole-fans need to wait until the boards stop to behave like a jealous chick, again.

ooc: My partial update did not go up, either. Not only you. LordT. I´ll update everybody tomorrow. Here a short piece . . .

Pergitor
Above the Planet, Infinity

Xaven Oberone saw the holoscreens and the Xenly. Spreading. Something had slowed them down and in at least one tunnel their march to the surface and into the domed city of Pryson had been stopped. But that would only buy them time. Eventually their impurity would be purged from the galaxy.

"Excellency, the Jedi is on the way." He heard a soldier from behind. Xaven nodded. A gift for Hoole. Something to plase the Dark Jedi. A man who would soon outlife his usefulness, too. And who Xaven still had to get rid of. Something he had just begun to work on, within´ his mind. For one who gave the galaxy it´s freedom from the force, such details were only of minor importance.
