U'tek
forum, Pergitor

U'tek was furiously firing his carbine, rapidly switching from target to target. It's happening all over again - the insects were swarming from everywhere, and for every one he killed another two appeared in its place. He started to feel panic crawling through is body, but like on the Ascendancy, he fought hard to focus, to stay in the moment and become aware of everything around him.

One insect made it close to him and he dropped it with two quick shots to the upper body. To his complete surprise, three more were behind it, two of them in mid air coming right at him. With a shout he rolled to his right, coming back up on his knees, switching his carbine to auto-fire, and hosed down the back of the insects that were now smoldering where he once was standing. He got back on his feet as he shot the other insect in front.

He was breathing heavily. His fangs were bared. All he saw about him was death incarnate, the insects wreaking havoc - and a ship descending. Talia or not, he was getting on it.

"Glave," he shouted, "to the ship! Get behind me!" U'tek moved as quickly as he could towards the descending ship, stopping every four steps to spin about and fire at whatever insect decided to make Glave and him a target.

"Talia, land!" He screamed into the comm for only a brief moment because he had to redirect his attention to a Xenly that looked ready to pounce. The magazine flashed at him, and U'tek quickly ripped out the empty magazine and reloaded a fresh one and continued blazing away.

That female better land that damn ship now.

Ratep Sentarin, 124 ABY
streets, Travnin

"Hmph." Ratep was only slightly impressed at the Imperial Knight's display of command and control of the area and situation. If the Empire was supposed to make him feel so safe, then why did he get jumped by a crazy, pike-weilding, psycho witch in the first place? Didn't someone at Imp customs notice something was up with her, he thought mockingly.

But he was glad to hear the Imperial Knight's praise of his student. As much as Ratep didn't like the Empire, he had to give them credit for their military prowess, and he did see the Imperial Knights as a worthy match against the Jedi when it came to fencing. And to hear someone, anyone say something good about Hespar's fighting abilities instead of the usually kriff about being too aggressive with him and "giving him glimpses of darkness" was very refreshing.

"Yeah, well, I dish out the punishment to him and he takes it with ease," Ratep responded to Eydan's compliment, looking back at Hespar. He didn't smile at him, but Hespar would know that it was Ratep's odd way of praising him.

"Anyway," Ratep began, but found himself stopping and slowly doubling himself over, still standing, but one hand on his side and the other hand on his knee. It seemed that his bad headache disappeared only to remind Ratep that he'd been shot by a stun bolt, slammed by pieces of metal, and almost electrocuted. He coughed a bit and looked back up at Eydan and Hespar.

"Anyway," he began again, his voice sounding more strained, "what the hell happened? Did you make it to the place? Did the contact try to jump you? 'Cause I just got jumped here." He motioned his head towards the body of the witch. "Kinda good at zapping people with her sparkly lightning fingers, but totally sucked with her spear."

Shaper Laaxtiin Kiar
Shuttle Above Karideph

Patting Uhl's corpse he nodded slightly, "I wish I could perform the sacrifices for your remains old friend. But the god's will receive many of our enemies in your place Shaper, and if your remains are still present after then they will be taken care of."

As he had spoken to his departed friend he noticed the medic Uhl's robes, an action he had no qualms about...at least he didn't think he did. That was until he shouted Sith and had the whole compartment drawing beads on him, and he noticed with a slight bit of satisfaction on the Mandolorian as well.

His maa'it swirled as they changed his 'eye' color from blue to yellow to pink, until it settled on a dark magenta. Reflecting he emtions of surprise and anger at such a comparison to himself, not to mention such slander of the dead.

Romar spoke quickly, a good thing before he lost his temper and showed how mild a Sith truly was when compared to his anger at this situation. Although he knew it would have been the death of him to fight, he also knew it would have been the death of all aboard the shuttle.

The Mandalorian made her dearming and rearmering herself a quick show in the background by the Jedi. Apparently she had no sense, heart, or soul to take such an insult in instead of merely using it as a warning for herself.

"Make that comparison again and I will show you why they are nothing more than good warriors without faith! Now promise to make amends to both of us or face the gods now for that insult on our faith and honor." as he spoke none present could ever mistake him for one that abondandoned the living, his amphistaff hissed, razor bugs rattled, whipsting started wiggling, a vertible symphony of his weapons and Uhl's stirring from sensing his anger.

Chapter Five is nearing it´s end . . . Karideph/Shuttle will update tomorrow to give the missing players another opportunity to post but now . . .

Pergitor
Forum turned to slaughterhouse . . .

Music - The Pergitor Escape

Glave hurried to the Cathar´s back, firing his own carbine without a second hesitation again and again. There were enough enemies. They grew in numbers, every second. Xenly was everywhere. And still spreading. "They are too many!" Glave shouted and dropped to his knees, changing his energy pack of his rifle.

"Coming down." Was Talia´s only comment as the bulky Nune-Class shuttle lowered so fast it almost dropped. The engines roaring the giant of steel the shuttle was came to a halt, it´s engines blowing away everything near it and clouding the scenery in dust. "Over here!" A man´s voice shouted and U´tek and Glave saw the lowering ramp and a man with a grey beard in a flight-suit standing there. U´tek probably had time to recognize Claven, the man who sold them the location of the Ascendancy a week ago.

At the east end of the forum, right where most civilians had run too a whole wave of Xenly now busted into the plaza. Ripping and biting through the flesh of thousands. "Too many!" Glave shouted again and stepped backwards into the shuttle. They had only seconds and this plaza would be filled with the insects.

The planet had probably only hours before each and every non-Xenly was dead.

What they saw there was not an attack. It was an apocalypse.

"GET IN! We need to leave!" Talia shouted over comm and her engines were already firing up again.

Music - The Hive awakes & Meet Hoole

"Hoole is NOT my MASTER!" Vur yelled out. How could this . . . bug . . . dare to talk to him like this. How could he!? The Chistori roared in rage and stepped forward to charge towards the little human who dared to speak to him like this. And crush his skull.

He never made the second step, as suddenly a dozen dark-armored Xenly fell from the darkness above. Right between Si Kya and the reptilian treacherous imperial officer.

"Bad idea. You should calm, big one. They are attracted by strong emotions." The Professor advised. But Vur only breathed heavy. Looking at them. "Bugs. You´re all bugs!"

Above the Hive

(combined with LordT, sort of)

Humming energy was the first thing Tenk Qatar heard. Energy fields everywhere. And a flowing platform on which he was restrained inside a strange apparatus. Energy fields holding his body in place. When he looked up, there was no guards or interrogators. No Sith. In front of him stood a single tall Weequay. Wearing a long leather coat beneath which a long hilted lightsaber was hidden, attached to his upper leg. A black armor was covering his breast. he slowly turned. And his face looked dead, motionless and empty. Yet his obsidian eyes had a feverish evil in them. In the force the place radiated with darkness. The rage of Xenly was present everywhere. Xenly was the force, here. Yet even in these shadows his dark was a burning center. Power. He felt like pure, dark power.

"Qatar." Was the only thing the man said. His voice was deep, raspy and commanding.

U'tek
forum, Pergitor

The screams from the citizens and the chattering of the insects were punctuated by the sounds of blaster fire from the cathar and the Imperial.

That was maybe all that U'tek could decipher at the moment. Everything was a blur. He was running too fast. His heart was beating hard. His own breathing threatened to drown out all other sounds. He aimed and shot at anything that looked like an insect. Did he just shoot at a civilian? No time to think about that now. It wasn't his fault anyway. The Xenly were in the way. They got in the way...

He saw the shuttle drop down. He was close now. The ramp opened and a man stood there, waving. U'tek fired at a mass of the monsters. He now found himself at the ramp, and he turned around. Glave caught up and was backing up into the ship, and U'tek began to do the same. Things were still a blur. He felt his trenchcoat become caught in something, and he pulled with all his might. He could feel it being torn as he turned around and whipped the butt of his carbine at whatever had his coat. U'tek saw the insect, its talons decorated with the fabric of his coat, and his carbine collided into the insects throat - if it even was that. A quick burst of fire erupted from his carbine, sending the insect falling backwards as he himself fell backwards onto the ramp. He furiously scrambled up the ramp and made it into the shuttle, firing indiscriminately into the crowd. It didn't matter if he aimed - they were all Xenly now.

"Close the ramp! Close the ramp!" That's what he shouted - at least, he thought he shouted that. He couldn't tell with all the commotion, and he was still too busy shooting at the horde. He didn't even take the time to get off his back, since taking his eyes off of the insects would likely get him killed.

"Get us out of here!"

Tenk is with Hoole!!! cry Take care Sarge. LordT has killed a few characters back in the days . . .

Kira Kara Romar
Shuttle, Leaving Karideph

She listened to Selpha. The Mandalorian was right, she owed her. Not that she doubted she would have survived without her turning on the Vulture. Kira actually knew where she would die. And she had a certain idea when that would be. Soon.

But she owed her nevertheless. "Kill the Xenly on your homeworld? Help Mandalore? What good would that be Selpha? He sends another ship of Xenly. Or two. Or twenty. Or a bulk-freighter with a hundred thousand of them? He got unlimited number of them. Once he has decided Mandalore is to be destroyed there is little, very little we can do. We are helpless. Actually there is only one thing I can do to save your planet, Selpha. And that is exactly what I am going to do. I´ll find him and stop him for good. And I will die while doing so. But I hope I can . . . defeat him before." Her head turned up, as the situation between the Yuuzhan Vong and Commander Keean had obviously escalated.

Kira
forced herself to the feet and felt the danger from the Vong. The death of his friends had obviously unbalanced him. The danger did miracles for her health. The force returned with an almost intimidating intensity. It was as if it was now unbalanced. Every time it vanished she felt like dying, every time it returned it seemed to overdose her with power.

"Stop it!" She yelled. And stepped between the two. Looking up at the Amphistaff of the man, while calling the Sithsaber to her hand. Her eyes showed her lack of fear of the Yuuzhan Vong´s weapon. "How do you dare to ask for atonement when you bring THIS!" The red blade jumped into existence. "Do you know how many of us died through this? To protect your people? How many have been slain in the war? How much our soldiers fear this?" Then she turned to Commander Keean. "Yet you should remember I had one as well, when I entered the Sunlight Ranger. Weapons are like allies these days, Commander. We take what is available. And have to rely on it." With a sigh she looked back at the Yuuzhan Vong. "I am sorry for your friend. He was no warrior, but he died like one." She said with a compassionate smile. She had seen the elder Shaper die from Xenly´s stings. It made him one of them. "You have travelled with the Sith, the man formerly known as Quin Vos. He was closer to the Xenly than any of us. Do you know where they are bred? Where they are coming from?" She asked. She needed to know. Hoole was out there. Hiding. And every second they waited the numbers of Xenly grew. Millions. With every blink of her eyes more life vanished. As she reached into the force she felt death still spreading. Planets inside the Cluster dying.

"I need to find the man behind this."

Pergitor
Inside the Dome

Music - Escape Pergitor

Claven shut the ramp and it slowly began to shut. Xenly were still leaping up, burning in the powerful jet of the shuttle taking of.
Then suddenly, as they were already 10 meters up a single Xenly was suddenly there. Barely making it through the small space between ramp and ship it fell down, leaping right through both men and making it´s way into the inside of the ship. Fleeing.

"Dammit. We needa kill it before it reproduces." Glave hissed and jumped up. Charging after the insect.

In the cockpit Talia bit her lip and accelerated. Explosions began to rip apart the city. The dome itself seemed to shake, as the energizing field failed. And the gates of it were closing. Bringing the shuttle to full speed she almost collided with a fighter as she forced her ship through one of the two possible openings in the glass-dome. Watching the gate close and seal everybody else inside.

Hyperspace
Somewhere in the Minos Cluster

In another shuttle, far away Commander Keean put his hands on Romar´s shoulder. "It´s alright. I apologize. And whenever I find anything in which I can bleive again, I´ll get this straight with my gods." Keean sighed and the Iktochi returned to his men.

"Arrival at the Ascendancy in about 30 minutes." Kaya reported from the cockpit.

Ascendancy
Somewhere in the Minos Cluster

"What is it?" Hissed the Falleen Colonel Tahnan as he entered the bridge. Obviously he was still in pain. Pale. Weakened. "A ship, Sir. It has come out of . . . hyperspace. Sort of." Captain Vayland stepped to the side and a strange organic creature floated in space. Six tentacles were floating around it. In it´s center one could see something like a living ship. "Yuuzhan Vong? What are scarheads doing here?" Tahnan wondered. He hadn´t see one of these since Bastion. Since that bloody bad day when the Sith surfaced. "They are hailing us, Sir. Quatlar Qat of Domain Qat is sending his respectful greetings and wishes to assist us in the war against something called Yarong. I assume that would be the insects."
Tahnan nodded. "Allies. Out her in the Minos-Cluster? In the middle of nowhere?" Vayland nodded. "Yes. Conincidence? The force? A trap?" He asked.
"Or maybe all three." Tahnan sighed. "Invite them on board."

"A Dark Jedi atacked me when I reached our contact. Jovan died in the attack. I duelled with the man who had Master Zey´s lightsaber." He took the dead Jedi Masters blade out of his pocket and handed it to his master. "Despite my best effort, I had a hard time with him. Then Knight Skorne here arrived and . . . sliced him to peices. He lived a bit but eventually died." He sighed and then smiled a little helpless. "Important thing is, Jovan could tell me why Master Zey had left Jedi Bonadan waiting. He seemed to be concerned about an attack on a nearby mining colony. I have the data." Hespar said and looked to Eydan Skorne. "With your permission Knight Skorne I´d say we hurry there and hope there still something to be found. Master Zey obviously was in a hurry to get there."

Above the Hive

"Qatar."

Tenk awoke to not only his new housing arrangements but the voice that now spoke his name. Still trying to shake off being awakened after a nice stun bolt, Tenk's one eye opened, closed, and then blinked rapidly in an effort to clear his vision. His head hurt just a little, and as he instinctively raised a hand to it he found that movement was a freedom he didn't have unlike last time when he was taken into custody. His eye moving this way and that, allowing the former Jedi to spot the energy fields that were responsible for his containment.

And he spotted Hoole.

The anger came quick as Tenk recognized the man - who else could it be that seemed to contain the very presence of the Xenly? But just as quick as the anger came it seemed to halt and recede, almost like it was sapped away as soon as it came.

Tenk knew the reason for it.

"Hoole," Tenk finally spoke.

"Actually there is only one thing I can do to save your planet, Selpha. And that is exactly what I am going to do. I´ll find him and stop him for good."

"You better be right," Selpha actually growled though honestly she didn't know if Romar was. So what if you killed off the guy that was supposed to be controlling the bugs? When you go with reasoning, like Selpha was doing, if you did kill Hoole, the bugs were still going to be there weren't they? They were just back to the thoughtless bugs that they really were. It wasn't like they were just going to roll over and die.

Or were they? There was the Force involved so Selpha didn't know what to expect really.

As Romar went to deal with some trouble between the Vong and one of her comrades, Selpha remained where she was though she kept an eye on the situation just in case, one hand fingering her carbine. If Hoole was their best chance of ridding the Xenly and Romar was going to give him a good kick in the shebs, it would be nice if Romar was alive for that confrontation.

But as she kept watch, Selpha went back to thinking of - what else? - Mandalore.

U'tek
shuttle, Pergitor

Things were still moving quickly for U'tek, but he could comprehend the situation at hand. He was still on the floor of the shuttle when the insect crawled through, catching him fully off guard. The only thing he could do was roll out of its way, although it seemed liked the bad choice since the insect evidently had no interest in him - he should've taken the shot. He raised up his carbine, but the insect was already scampering inside towards the cockpit and Glave was in his line of fire.

The cathar quickly and hazily recalled that shooting inside a shuttle was a very bad idea. It didn't matter how good of a shot you were; the chances of you doing damage any of the multitude of systems packed around the cabin was too high, never mind directing fire towards the pilot that was trying to get you to safety.

U'tek didn't think much on what he did next. Rather, his insticts took over, those of a cathar warrior, or even more base than that. He felt and eerie focus come about himself as he locked on visually the insect, now his prey. He was sprinting at high speed towards it as if nothing was going to shake him off its trail. His eyes still locked on, he felt crouch, his hands slamming onto the metal floor only to assist his legs in propelling him into the air. His arms extend out to the Xenly that was quickly getting closer to his grasp. His claws exteneded, his fingers flexed, and his jaws opened to fully expose his fangs.

Once U'tek made the pounce, he would let his claws and fangs do the rest of the work on the Xenly.

Ratep Sentarin, 124 ABY
streets, Travnin

Ratep was now kneeling on one knee, trying to clutch the pain away, but listened intently to what Hespar had to say. The force user he and the Imperial Knight dispatched sounded dangerous enough to take out a Master. Ratep cursed at himself for letting himself get held up in the alley, to not be there to save Hespar.

It was unfortunate that their contact was killed - which likely rules out the contact was working against them - but at least he gave enough information to Hespar. A mining colony? What's so exciting about that?

"With your permission Knight Skorne I´d say we hurry there and hope there still something to be found. Master Zey obviously was in a hurry to get there."

Ratep quickly interrupted. "Ah, no. Hold on." He slowly rose to his feet, trying to demonstrate to the two and to himself that despite his injuries that he was the authority there. He interpreted the "we" in Hespar's question as the type of we that he did not want to have. "First, Knight Skorne, I'm indebted to you for what you have done for Hespar. Forever indebted to you." Ratep even surprised himself at what he had just said, especially to an Imperial. Even though his memories of "home" back on Ghorman were incredibly sparse, save a very vivid and painful one, it seemed that the planet's strong anti-Imperial tradition had reached him through just being born their.

His embarrassment over his words, both praising an Imperial and giving away too much of a hint of compassion for his padawan, finally got the better of Ratep, and he hardened up. "But we're gonna have to leave you right now because this is a strict Jedi matter. Second," Ratep looked at Hespar, "we're not going to rush into this because that's what obviously killed Master Zey. We're gonna send for reinforcements. Hell, the Council will send an army after we tell them of the dark force users here. Head back to our ships and make the call from there."

Ratep began to walk towards Hespar to guide him back to the hangar.

ooc: Fin forgot to mention . . . the scene is a little later then the rest of you guys.

Hoole
Asteroid Alpha

"You know who I am." The voice was crackling and rusty. "Goode."

Stepping over to Tenk Qatar Hoole´s obsidian black eyes betrayed no emotion. His skin was leathery and ancient. Almost looking like it was unable to move, at all. But his presence was burning with a dark and hungry anticipation. As he spoke his voice was dark and hissing. Rusty even. But one could feel he was talking unusually many words. His throat seemed to hurt from it. A hurt that was overshadowed by his radiating anger.

"You tried to control him, did you? Tried to enter his mind?" Hoole´s lips curled. Something that had only a slight similarity to a smile. Disgusted and mocking. "Too much fear, Tenk Qatar. You have too much fear in you. And fear weakens the fearsome." He looked to the left. Staring into the darkness for a moment beneath the humming energy-field. A Xenly had somehow managed to reach the command-platform up there and jumped into the energy-field. Burning and falling into the void beneath him again.

"He is waiting for you. Now that he has overcome your will once it will be so much easier for him to enter your consciousness." Hoole said and turned towards Tenk Qatar. Looking down on the man. "And he will flay your mind one layer at a time. Consume your soul, bit by bit, until only your empty body will remain in the dark. An empty shell left to rot away." Hoole´s voice intensified. As he leaned forward. "When they come to save you, I will seal my victory. In the end your existence served a purpose. And served it well." His . . . smile, if somebody called it that . . . vanished. And in the force the object for his desire became apparent. Hoole reached out to Kira Romar. While his black eyes never left Tenk.

"You tried to control him, did you? Tried to enter his mind?"

That hadn't been Tenk's original intention when he contacted the Xenly - he had only meant to distract - but yes he knew that he had inadvertently tried to control them. And just as Hoole said, he had contacted them in fear. For Talia. The good that did.

Hoole kept talking but at this point Tenk had all but tuned the man out. Wasn't even looking at him anymore, his one eye drifting away in thought, his whole head seeming to turn to the side away from the Weequay. It came to the point where it just sounded like buzzing to Tenk's ears with the occasional words - "overcome your will", "consume your soul", etc. - seeming to get through to him. The usual threats of torment and the end of his life in a manner that was worse then death then. Was he supposed to care at this point? Without her, without Talia, why should he care about what happened to himself?

Could fight, a voice, sounding like his own but his lips weren't even moving, suddenly spoke up.

Why? Tenk questioned, his lips seeming to try to form the question verbally as well as mentally but failing at producing any sound. At this point the best thing that could happen to him was rolling over and dying.

They're responsible.

A small tilt of his head and a slight raising of the eyebrow was his response to that. This was true. Xenly, and by extension Hoole, were responsible.

"When they come to save you, I will seal my victory. In the end your existence served a purpose. And served it well."

Tenk was paying attention at this point, his head turning back in Hoole's direction enough for his one eye to spot the Weequay.

Victory?

Well, if he needed to do something productive before he died he could try and do something about that. But just for her.

ooc: that was fast Sarge. But even the better . . . I´ll reply then.

Hoole
Asteroid Alpha

A single foul breath escaped his lips. A sigh. Or something very similar. Self-importance. No sense for the greater scheme of things. This was no Caleb Brandl of his time. This was no new Asaja Morine. The Jedi of this times were pathetic, self-important fools.

The thoughts of this man were still circling around his wife. The treacherous Talia who had laid in many beds to save her husband and had somewhere along the way lost herself. She was alive, according to Hoole´s latest data. Actually she had to be. To lead Romar to Asteroid Alpha. Talia was necessary.

Another thing the man did not understand was that he would strengthen Xenly. Maybe he did not care anymore. But once he understood . . . there was no such thing like understanding in him. It was a theoretical thought. Tenk Qatar would never understand Hoole. Or Xenly. He was far to limited.

Why didn´t he tell him? Hoole hesitated for a moment. Stepping back in silence. Why wasn´t he torturing him with his wife´s survival? Or showing him the Xenly ripping apart a dozen words due to their failure. He found no satisfaction in this idea. And that . . . frightened him. When had his hatred diminished? When had his soul become so dull?

Hoole closed his eyes. The pain in his chest was returning. "I´ll show you. Tenk Qatar. I´ll show you what I have in store for the galaxy. And your precious wife and her friends." He hissed. "And you know what you won´t need to see it?"

Flashes of electricity burst into his hands.

"Your eyes." He stepped forward so fast there was probably no visible movement at all. And his thumbs squeezed into Tenk Qatar´s eyes channeling his dark power into the Jedi´s skull.

Eydan Skorne followed Ratep Sentarin. Before Hespar Kessler could speak, he did. "Master Sentarin, that might not be necessary. You are right, after this assassination, you can´t go in there as if nothing happened. And yes, you should inform your Order. But you are wrong about two things. First, this miners are not Jedi business. The Minos Cluster is technically a member of the Empire. Therefore we are talking about our citizens here, endangered by unknown powers." Eydan Skorne looked to Hespar Kessler, than back. "And if you need an army . . . I am sure my Emperor will agree that I should assist you. And I got a fully loaded and equipped Arset-Class Frigate here." He raised his brow." He finally stopped. "Do you wanna risk that whatever it is the dead Jedi Master was looking for, is already gone when the Jedi have assembled their team?"

"Accepted." he hissed out, not that he truly wanted to accept such a lame appology but because he knew it was the best he would be able to get without bringing death upon himself and in a way...upon all he had to live for.

"I bring what is needed. From those killed on the path to get here. Besides, one should not judge another by their weapons, but by the skill they use in weilding them." He turned his eyes on her now, the maa'it changing colors again to resume their stance of pasty white orbs staring lifelessly upon her.

"For what you ask I have told you what I know in many ways. The first Yarong was a man named Xenly, whether like Melmot as a changed name I cannot say, who was a Verpine that became a Jedi...then a Sith...then something else entirely. He birthed a race of drones to do his bidding, much as I use these maa'it to see, these hands to manipulate, or my weapons to make a path clear." He spoke slowly and low, making sure every word was clear despite his rough intonations of the barberous tongue. Stepping nearer the Romar he took a deep breath.

"He died, Xenly, his last command to spread and destroy...to eat, resonating in his drones from his last synaptic fire. So they spread and do that last impulse. They were found by Hoole, who cultivated his crop of them and seeks to control them...something he apparently needs you to do. As for where, my thoughts leave only spaces of death scoured clean for centuries of all except them, a dead world, a dead moon, or an asteroids warren is all I can suggest. Especially from the look of how they keep their nests upon ships, a more cavernous situation would suite them. I could even tell you how many times they have bred from the first, how they change each time, and how the Prophetess upon my ship revolted after contact with them...shaping herself into one of them with a cry to shape a new god.

"But of such things...you...don't...care."

His maa'it eyes changed with each word growing darker, and darker, leaving the glow to shine off onyx orbs, tattered lips and shinning scars that told of his mixed heritage and exploits if one knew how to read them. "As the diptera maggot eats rotting flesh so the Yarong spread, from a shapers hand that keeps the clutch near...and yet screaming for use seperate from himself. If you can feel the pressence follow the screams of Yarong...the rest is too plain for such moments."

Asteroid Alpha, the Hive

Si stared at Vur blankly. Clearly, the lizard didn't understand anything. And never would. Si could only watch as Xenly fell between them, and Si wondered if that was a way to control them - by not being afraid of them. The analyst in Si, dulled by death and pain and war, flickered alive, and the student began to wonder if the Xenly were just reacting - reacting to everyone's fear. When they felt fear, they magnified it through their connected minds, through the darkness, and it made them afraid - and they reacted.

Si wondered if all darksiders were afraid of the Dark.

The student raised a hand towards the closest of the black Verpine, stepping forward. He was not afraid. Not anymore. How could he be? There was nothing in death that he had to fear - he welcomed it. His family were waiting for him - and he was waiting for them.

And so, with all that was Si an event horizon on the edge of an eternal black hole within him, Si touched the creature, not hard, not soft, just touched. There was pain on his burnt hand, but he didn't notice, didn't wince. He closed his eyes, and released his calmness into that place in his mind where the Xenly were, the path which echoed with a conflict between a darkness and a light, two entities he vaguely recognised, elsewhere on the asteroid.

And Si waited.

TENK! cry cry cry

Kira Kara Romar
Shuttle

The story the Yuuzhan Vong told her was yet another version of the twisted, tragic tale of Xenly. She had heard it without Hoole mentioned, or with Hoole behind his fall. Now Hoole could have found the XENLY after Xenly himself died. Hard to say which was true. As were the tidbits of the Sith. Asaja Morine hadn´t mentioned the Sith. But their ways were deceiving. Maybe the galaxy had just found about their involment after Master Morine had already died.

And there was another thig all too familiar in the Vongs story. All the Xenly touched was corrupted by them. The Dark Side was corruptive. Always.

"Tell me all about your ship and your sister. What happened?" Kira asked an sat down next to the man. Another servant of darkness? Another addition to her enemies ranks? Kira Romar wanted to be a Jedi again. She would not try to ignore the Dark Side hwen it brought suffering to those she met.

Shaper Laaxtiin Kiar
Shuttle, Somewhere in the Minos Cluster

"SHE is NOT my SISTER! Not in any use of the words!" His throat growled from the intonations he had created, the loudness of his inflamed response. "We were not from the same creche, and she was always a bit of a zealot...which did not bode well for any relationship between us as I am one of the few to change his destiny from that of a warrior to that of a shaper." To emphasise his words he raised first his clawed hand unfurling the fist to stretch out the digits, and then his left hand...his shapers hand that unfurled to show the eight digits there and the basic tools of that trade.

"Listen well for this I will tell in entirity once..."

And thus he told his tale from the onset of this mission and paused from time to time as he searched for the proper word for the infidel technology or ships he had encountered. In the end as in the beginning he wondered if in letting this woman live had started a new path that might yet lead to a better future than killing her would have brought.
