Mmm... if you set it in America though you risk 'leaving' the HP universe and just making an original world with magic and coincidentally similar spell names.

True........ Hm......... I'll have to think on that. I do think escaping from England would be beneficial, though I'd have to rethink it.

I actually think the truth is, that you can't have another Harry Potter game. It stops being Harry Potter, when Harry Potter is no longer alive or on the same continent. You might need to think of another title.

Hm.... Very true. So, do you think i should try to expand upon the HP series--perhaps with a prequel--or should I go with a sister story?

I wouldn't expand, if I were you. That always brings about a spell, if you pardon the pun, of uber-characters.

Cool. About what I was thinking. Okay, I'll work up an opening post for a sister story and run it by you guys for your thoughts.

Imp, I like the idea of a Sim game. Forcing people to work together against the GM to accomplish something's an interesting idea. I think it could work, but I think you're the only one crazy enough to GM it and make it work.
As for the HP game, I haven't played in enough of them (or stuck with the one I did play in) to really see what we've been doing wrong in the past ones, so best of luck with that.

What I've always thought would be a cool HP game would be one set in Hogwarts during Snape's reign as headmaster. Or in England in general, during Voldemort's rule. Y'know, resistance movement and whatnot. I just have a really good feeling about the idea. Hell, I might even start it up. I haven't GMed before, though...

I don't like the Snape's rule as much, but I think that the one set in England during Voldemort's reign has potential. I don't knwo. Ideas, ideas.

I think setting it in America would work out nicely if you put enough time into developing the world. But it'd be hard to do, and might feel somewhat divorced from the Harry Potter world.

I know. That would be something that would have to be worked around. However, I think that setting it in the real HP environment--England-- is just too constrictive on creativity. Moving it to a different place, in ym mind, would allow for more creative liberties and character growth. Anyways, we'll see what I come up with.

I don't think setting it in the English Wizarding World is any more 'constrictive' than setting something in the GFFA. I generally find it far easier to work in an established world. Though I suppose it gives the designer somewhat less freedom, I don't think it limits RP very much at all. In some ways it actually liberates the players, as they don't need to rely on the GM as the sole source of info.

True. Perhaps it's merely setting it in the school that is constrictive. Anyways, I have to rule out one of those, and I have already decided that there will not be that much school stuff in my HP RP. It's too hard to maintain and nothing happens in the school, so it will be set out int he world. I'll still have to decide ona location.
